i try to lift school gets in the way of me lifting like i would want to i try to lift about 4 days a week just enough to keep people off me if need be lol.

So everyone was right the school does seem very nice and promising. I really appreciated the vibe that I received their. It was a good experience and thats does not depend on what happens in the next weeks to come. I wish all of you including myself that have not been accepted yet all the best. Today is the final day of all interviews so everyone pray or do whatever you do whether it be mediation or .....

Did anyone interview today??

Is there anyone here who interviewed on Friday??

Does any one have any updates available

- Anxiously awaiting

did anyone hear anything back? its the 15th and nothing heard back yet...

I have checked my email like 50 times today I have my email on refresh on y phone, but no response yet. So I am still anxiously waiting.

hey Pharm0826,
I did try to get in contact with her several times today but no one picked up. Did you get in contact with her if so what did she say? I find it weird that we are the only ones who seem to be showing concern. Did everyone else receive their acceptance letters or something because this thread has become quite lonely..

I tried emailing her today but received no response. I have not heard that anybody that interviewed on April 14th or later have recieved any notice yet. I don't what the problem is but this is the second time that I didn't receive an answer from them when I was supposed to. It is getting extremely aggravating.😡😡😡

I called her but the calls went to her voice mail. I hope we will hear something back on Monday, otherwise...

removed. possibly derogatory.

I do not think that the chancellor's behaviors will have any influence on the opening of the college of pharmacy. That is an internal issue that will most likely be dealt with. What I am mainly concerned with is the admissions process. I really like the school and I would like to receive some feedback from them so I know where I stand. I agree with everyone we need to have some information about what is going on. DASA I feel your pain. All day Friday I called but I was unable to get in contact with anyone. Hopefully Monday will be the day we find out the good news.

ACPE accreditation committee meets twice a year; once in January and once in June.

i interviewed on 4/14/08 and i don't hear anything from the CSU-COP.

Hello everybody,

I emailed Amalia last Friday in hopes of hearing something soon and unfortunately I did. Here is Amalia's response that I received today, Monday, May 19, 2008:

I was hoping for the decisions to be done this week but it may take longer. There are about 7 interview days in total that are being discussed and the Admissions Committee will take a few days to determine the final accepted applicants along with who will be put on a wait list. I should have the results hopefully by next week if not the week after the latest. I will definitely let you know as soon as possible.

The way I read this, it could be as late as June 6, 2008 before we are finally notified. I will discuss it with my wife, but I may make it easier on them and withdraw my application. I don't know if I want to go to a school that is so unorganized.

😡😡😡😡😡😡

wow this is disturbing and disappointing that we will have to wait for at least two weeks. Secondly out of 7 interviews they will select the remaining half. well qualified individuals, so i could understand if they need more time to make a selection. does anyone know if all of the current accepted students will be attending in da fall...

Hello everyone. I too am anxiously awaiting a reply on my admissions status. I e-mailed Amalia today and she responded saying:

"The decisions have recently been made. Decision letters are going out this week and you should receive yours by next week. If you wish to know your status now feel free to call me."

I hope this update helps some of you and good luck to all those accepted and those waiting to be accepted.

Anyone else get in lately? This whole accredidation thing is gonna be on my mind until June 22nd passes... WHEN they are accredited, then I guess I will be able to sleep better at night... Im definitely keeping CSU in my prayers though! LoL ANyone with me?

unfortunately i have been put on the waitlist. which in my eyes is equivalent to a rejection because I think every1 knows where they will be going by now and if people were waititng for a response from CSU all this time that means that is their number 1 pick.. Keep me in your prayers guys.

How big is their class? 75ish???

Hey you never know, just keep praying and hopefully you'll pick up one of those spots, a lot of people are concerned about the accredidation, so that might be beneficial to you... I hope you get in 🙂

well i got into howard and will probably go there if i can figure out my fin aid status so theres still hope dont give up

where's a good place for students to live in with good rates? any specific communities?

**Important**
Hey ya'll, so I talked to Amalia yesterday because I was hoping that since I knew I was missing one class, but maybe since they didnt mention it I didnt have to take it! The class was Economics, but when she pulled out my folder they had notes on there saying I needed to take the class by Aug 25, or I would FOREFEIT my seat.... so guys, make sure you have ALL the pre-reqs completed, if you need to call them, but it probably won't slip through the cracks, so make sure you call her because I know thats the last thing anyone wants...

Also she gave me this website for apartments... Apartmentguide.com, and said... "Areas that are in close proximity to the College is Hyde Park, Beverly and Oak Lawn. The South Loop is also another area in which you will find professional students.

An email will also be sent out soon to all admitted students asking them if they would like to include their name, email address and telephone number on a list for possible roommates. Once the list is complete it will be made available. If you have any further questions feel free to contact me. Thank you."

Any Update or anyone receive any email regarding accreditation? I think ACPE has meeting on June 18-22. So, we can probably here by end of the next week, this is just my guessing. 🙂

So its official, we're now a pre-candidate institution!!! Congrats to everyone again, and see u in the fall...

Hey Guys that got accepted to CSU. I am on the fence about applying to CSU for fall 2009.

I wanted to know what were the average stats of accepted students or anything that you guys found great about the school ? So if any of you could help out it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, I'll try to help! So Chicago State, some of the highlights would definitely be the faculty, very caring, concerned, and we KNOW we will get a good education from them. They are all very interactive, motivated, and maybe more excited than us about this whole experience of beginning a new school... and some of them are some of the best in IL (based on awards they've won).

If you want, u can keep in touch with me throughout the year and I'll give you updates on how things are going, an unbiased opinion! Facebook me... James Lott Texas Southern UNiversity.

Classes start for us on Aug 25th, I think we have orientation on Aug 18? Not sure... but yea keep in touch, I'd love to help a sista' out!

Chicago state has recieved pre-accredition status from ACPE, so we have the green light to be the part of this new pharmacy school, now my only concern is the faculty and college environment, I have a good feeling that things from now on for CSU should turn out good!

I'm sure this has been asked on here somewhere so I apologize in advance, but I do have a couple of questions re: CSU. First, what kind of neighborhood is it in? Isn't it right across the street from UIC? Second, where do most students going there tend to live? I'll be too old to live in their dorms I'm sure. 😉 Okay that's three questions, but bear with me...

UIC and CSU are quite far apart. CSU is in Bronzeville (south side) and UIC is in the Near West Side. Bronzeville is not the best of all neighborhoods. UIC's area is considered to be safer.

Thanks for the input. The general consensus from people I've talked to is don't go there unless you have too... shame really. 🙁

I just finished orientation at Chicago State and I am impressed with the caliber of students in their first class. All staff and admin are so supportive and friendly.

The Chicago State buildings are all contained on the campus. The crime stats on campus are zero. The surrounding neighborhood is middle income (some lower income) African American. It is not Bronzeville, which is further north (even north of Hyde Park). Some of the students are living in Hyde Park and will commute (Chicago State is about 5 miles south of Hyde Park), some are living in UIC area and are car-pooling. Some are commuting from suburbs. It would be an easy commute from the Beverly neighborhood too, or the Pullman neighborhood.

I was also accepted to Midwestern but it's too expensive, too big, too much of a commute, and not near as friendly as Chicago State. Was on wait-list for UIC, and don't think that is such a great neighborhood either.

If you are interested in Chicago State, go for a visit, don't listen to what others say. See for yourself.

That's good advice. Living in Chicago makes me nervous anyway, but you are absolutely right.

It's impossible for a campus in the middle of Chicago not to have any crime on it. Someone has been playing around with the numbers. Even UIUC has loads of on-campus crime. Irony is that UIUC has higher crime than UIC. Remember you're in Chicago and not some small town. UIC west campus is actually about a mile away from Lawndale. Even the UIC west campus area is starting to yuppify. Fancy townhouses/condos are being built right next to the United Center.

I second that regarding the crime at UIUC...it seems like I get emails about people being mugged, burgluries, etc. about every week.

So is CSU's locale similar to Wayne State or more like USC?

What are my chances of getting in? Gpa is ~3.3, 90 PCAT, and pharmacy technician work experience.

Does anyone know if CSU prefers in-state applicants? I read somewhere that if you reside in Chicago, you have an advantage and just wanted to make sure. Thanks.

If you are interested in some of the details concerning seats for out-of-staters and in-staters, there is a profile of CSU posted on the pharmcas website. click on the link below.

http://www.pharmcas.org/collegesschools/schoolchicagostatepage.htm

I am actually a P1 at CSU-COP and I know alot of people always say how concerned they are about the safety of the school. No matter where you are in the world, you just need to use common sense. No place is completely safe. However, CSU does take safety seriously-- as all college campuses do. Besides campus security, we do have police on campus regularly driving through. Also, we always finish class well before it gets dark out, but if you do want to stay late and study, you can call for an escort to take you to your car. But all of us park in the same lot so we when we leave campus, we basically all leave together. And no, we don't hang out in the area. Most people live either in Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, Lakeview, etc and commute to school.

We have an incredibly diverse inaugural class and so far its been great. I personally chose CSU because it was the happy medium between Midwestern and UIC. I didnt want to pay so much money for tuition at a private school like Midwestern, and my friends at UIC pharm school always complained about how stressful and competitive it is there. Our dean opened both Midwestern Pharmacy school campuses and so, CSU has adopted similiar ideas in the structure of our education. Just as Midwestern is, CSU focuses on community learning. Good luck to all that apply. And apply early! 🙂

Could anyone who got into CSU please post your PCAT score? If you don't want to post it, could you please send it to me privately? Just curious to see if I have a snowball's chance... 🙁

Also... does CSU do Pharmcas? Thanks guys!

anyone heard back about interviews yet? I already sent my supp. application but no words yet 😕
