Child Neurology Vs. NDD

I am interested in the intersect of neurology and genetics particularly neurogenetic (genetic syndromes, MDs, SMA, and neurocutaneous disorders) and neurometabolic disorders (LSDs, GSDs, etc.) which seems to be more pediatric in nature. I've been considering child neurology vs NDD as well as subspecialty training in neurogenetics or clinical and biochemical genetics. I want to combine clinical practice and translational/clinical research to develop treatments. Can anyone offer insights into their experiences with each specialty and practice as well as their decision making between each?
