I just stumbled across this in the morning paper and thought you guys might like to see it:

According to the article, Bruce Crabtree, D.C. is offering chiropractic care to house pets....I really like the part about 'cold laser therapy'...heh heh.

"Using a machine that resembles a blunt corkscrew, Crabtree puts pressure on the animal's spine to look for unwanted muscle reactions through the skin. Not only is the treatment painless, he said it releases endorphins and other natural pain relief chemicals in the animal that make them feel better almost immediately.

In addition, Crabtree also uses cold laser therapy, or light waves, to stimulate healing in the pets."

Ridiculous

What is wrong with chiropractic care for animals? I mean, if it were labeled as physical therapy then I guess no one would have a problem with that. Chiropractic care for animals is not ridiculous. Many VETS also utilize acupuncture and various supplements such as glicosamine and MSM. In fact, this is how MSM originated.

This is not a vet who knows animal anatomy. How is this guy supposed to determine if the pets even NEED treatment, much less adequately provide it? It sounds to me like this guy preys upon ignorant people who desperately want to help their pets--all just to make a buck. It's as bad as selling snake oil to cancer patients

There are good, knowledgeable, responsible chiropractors out there, but the industry is riddled with quacks and this guy looks like one of them.

The link you posted seems to be to a legitimate animal chiropractic organization--Bruce Crabtree does not appear to be legitimate.

I am not saying that there shouldn't be chiropractic care for pets. I'm saying that this particular chiropractor looks like a quack. If he were genuinely interested in the welfare of his patients, don't you think he would be working WITH vets? Or getting training and certification through an organization like the AVCA, whose website URL you kindly posted here?

If you visit this guy's website (http://www.dcdoctor.com/dc/ne/avenuechiro_com/p/fs_aboutus.html), you will see he has all sorts of things for sale there--vitamins, pain rub, back exercise equipment, etc. He offers downloads about COFFEE ENEMAS. Perhaps I'm a bit of a puritan, but I do question the medical expertise of a person who recommends inserting breakfast beverages into one's rectum.

I guess i understand for animals that are truely injured and do need the care, but I just got this image in my mind of paris hilton spoiling the hell out of her tinkerbell. She spends more on her per year than the average family makes in two years.

As for Paris Hilton...I defer to South Park's description 😀
