I currently have my bachelors degree in business and am in the process of taking my science pre-req's at a local community college.
I spoke to my 1st choice NYCOM and they said that wasnt a problem and I could take my science pre-req's anywheres, since I possess a bachelors but a friend mentioned that it may hurt my admissions chances by thinking I was trying to take the 'easy' way out.
Now I am a litle worried admissions committes will look down at my choice of post-bacc school. I really only chose the CC due to costs and location, since many of the other schools nearby are private which would result in almost $2,000 a class which isnt currently in my budget.
any suggestions would be appreciated
thx

that seems like an honest reason, im sure you can sell that if the need be. good luck! 👍

Are you in NY? go to one of the CUNY colleges. Register as a degree seeking student to avoid the insane postbacc prices. This is what some students do at Hunter College.

You can try calling a few of your other top choices for medical school and see if it is ok to go the CC route. Your friend and SDN may not be the best way to make this decision.

most schools that I talked to are fine for prereqs at CC. If you are trying to boost your gpa though you will need to take some upper level classes.

I don't think taking classes at a CC will hurt your chances as long as you do well on the MCAT. MCAT is objective and independent of schools, so there's no "grade inflation" happening on that bad boy...
