Greetings all.

I have 4 classes left to finish up my AA at my local community college before I can switch directly into my State University which is also local.

One of these 4 classes needs to be a science and I'd like to hear your suggestions for a good CC class to take.

In reading these forums, I have come to the conclusion that, since I can, I should take all of the required pre-reqs at the University level. So that is my plan. I will be pursuing a Biology degree, so all of the pre-med pre-reqs, with the exception of the Bio classes, will be electives during the last 2 years of the degree.

Anyway, I am considering taking either an Intro to Bio or Intro to College Chem as my last AA-CC course in order to prime the pump and get those science juices flowing to help and ensure the A when I move into the actual Bio and Chem courses at University.

Suggestions?

(Currently 3.7 cum GPA)

Wellll...In re-reading the pre-req requirements for the BS program at the University, BSC 1010, or Bio I, is on the list. So it looks as though they have made my decision for me.

Just to comment on your initial post, not to give you a real suggestion, as you say you've made your decision.

One thing, to add to waiting to do your pre-med pre-reqs once you get to your 4-year institution, with sequence courses (bio 1 and 2, gen chem 1 and 2, etc etc), it's probably a good idea to keep that sequence at the same school for the sake of continuity at the least.

About which class to take, if it was me, I would avoid those intro-ish science courses, they aren't necessary, and a waste of a class if you're going to take the higher level versions (the pre-reqs). I'd go with something "different", like pharmacology, or microbio, A&P, pathophysiology, etc, a class where you'll be exposed to something outside the pre-reqs but all applicable to your future.

All the best with your classes, keep that GPA soaring.

That's good advice. I hadn't thought of continuity. I'll have to talk with advising and see if, since I'm transferring in with an AA, they might accept an A&P with lab rather than Bio I. Thanks for the heads up in the "intro" courses. Good to know.
