Hi all,
An IM physician colleague of mine mentioned that there's some good empirical support for treating MDD as a chronic illness, both at the care system level (in terms of scheduling appointments, follow-up, coordinating and tracking care, etc) and at the individual patient level (thinking of MDD in terms of episodes/flares, building in self-care strategies, symptom management within the context of limitations, etc). I had honestly never heard of this model for MDD, though it has some cross-over with psychiatric rehabilitation models. Any familiarity with the model or thoughts on the research or practice in this area?
