Hey, I was fortunate enough to get accepted into my top two choices. I didn't think I would have this decision, but now that I do, it is extremely difficult. So, I am wondering if there are any students currently going to either school that could give me some honest answers on the curriculum, professors, and classmates. I am wondering who provides the better experience. Obviously, there is an enormous courseload, but I want to know who is having fun in pharmacy school when they're not studying? Please PM me with any insight. I really appreciate it.

"The" OSU gets my vote. I interviewed at both, won't attend either, but from my experiences I think there is more opportunity in Columbus than in Cincinnati.

Plus, the student recreation center at OSU is awesome and absolutely huge! It's probably the biggest gym in the country...which >50,000 students tends to demand 🙂

You'll get quality education wherever you go....to an extent.

But you can't get the Big11..I mean Big Ten culture and lifestyle you'll enjoy for the rest of your life if you go to Cinci.

Def OSU. I was also fortunate enough to be accepted into both schools. I chose OSU not only because I've always wanted to be a Buckeye, but also because of the greater amount of oppurtunities they have. I was really impressed that in your fourth yr you can do rotations all over the country as well as in England. I asked Cincy this, and they wanted rotations to be done with the greater Cincy area. ::boo:: Also I definitely was not impressed with the College of Pharmacy building at Cincy. OSU's facilities were nicer. I have friends that attend each COP and they both have great things to say, but for me OSU was the way to go. Go to OSU so we can be classmates😉

oh yah, and one of my good friends graduated from OSU last year. She told me if she had to do it again, she would go back in a heartbeart. She was almost as excited as I was when I got my acceptance letter!!😀

While my decision is pretty set in stone for OSU, I'm trying hard to weigh my options so that I can make the best choice that I will feel best about.

So I just got back from my interview at Cincinnati and while I acknowledge the schools effort in updating their facilities with a new practice lab that has both community and clinical practice labs ALSO fantastic staff such as Dr. Lin and his faculty partner Dr. Mehaus from Children's, I am at a bind.

The only caveat that is placing me at this bind is a ~$3k difference in tuition. While I could see myself at Cincinnati with the support of a great faculty and intimate relationship with the surrounding medical village, OSU had an overwhelming more synchronous student body.

My question is for any OSU or UC student/alumni is, Are the potential debt differences worthwhile to go to the cheaper school overall?

I feel I will miss out on a big opportunity at OSU which had a comprehensively better experience.

As one of the PY1 preceptors said at the interview, a lot of the students at OSU are competitive and too "future" minded. My response was just the question, is that really a bad thing?

Lol... if it's not too much, can you say your stats?

Lol... if it's not too much, can you say your stats?

72 composite PCAT. 3.67 GPA. 3.8 GPA in sciences. BA of Fine Arts from CCM. 22 years of music performance. Hospital shadow and charitable pharmacy volunteering.

Lol, I know everyone is saying OSU, but my one friend goes there (she's international actually) and she hates it there. Apparently you don't get as much experience early on and it's harder to find work while you're there for school because of competition.

So if that's what you want, maybe you should choose Cinn?
(I actually got accepted into Cinn too, but I'm still decided what to do... :/ And I didn't even apply to OSU because she hated it so much)

Actually, I know the pass rate for OSU is probably higher, so its a higher ranked school, so it's also a good place if you want that name.

But since you went to CCM for undergrad? Maybe you should switch it up and just test out living in different places?

In the end though, yea, it's your choice so just do what you want. It's your life~ its now or never~ ;D

As much as I do take te experience of others into consideration, I do also lend equal weight in the fact the I create the majority of my own personal experience in my attitude, work ethic, integrity etc. That being said, I only have a hunch really of what OSU may lend me.

But in concession to your point, I am thoroughly excited for studies at a new campus and really I base my most initial and of course very impermanent sentiments merely on the attitude of the expressed interviewees that I interviewed alongside. This was a group of people that I was so honored to be in te company with. And it sent a message to me that this was my possible future cohort of students. I did not experience this as all when I interviewed at UC.

I'll remain optimistic but realistic at the same time. But unanimously, my choice is OSU.
