Clarification on recommendations

So I'm rolling in the shadowing hours and asked for a recommendation. The desk clerk wanted me to give her a sample letter so she can work from there. She added though, that I should have a "custom" letter for each school and thats how the dentist did it.

Is that really needed? I thought it was alright to send each school the same letter?

It is not really needed, and pretty insane. The dental schools participating in AADSAS are expecting the same letters, that's just how the system works. Perhaps there is a misunderstanding here with your desk clerk, or perhaps she thinks you're going to snail mail his letter personally to each separate school yourself.
