class of 2012 - how many schools did you apply to?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Last year I applied to UF (alternate) and Auburn (rejected).

This year I applied to UF (rejected), LSU (rejected), and Edinburgh (accepted). Goes to show you that you should apply even if you don't think you'll get in. You never know what's going to happen.

I applied to 5 schools -

NCSU - IS - No word.
Auburn - Interviewed - Alternate.
LSU - No word.
UTK - -Interviewing 3/19.
Purdue - Interviewed 2/29.

I applied to 4 schools:

Auburn: Accepted
VMRCVM: Accepted😍
University of IL: Interviewed, waiting on decision
Missouri: Rejected w/out interview

I applied to 6:
Michigan - rejected
Minnesota - rejected
Purdue - rejected
Illinois - Interviewed 2/18
RVC - Interviewed 2/14
Wisconsin - no info yet

I applied to 7

Oregon - Accepted
CSU - Accepted (DVM and MPH/DVM)
Edinburgh - Conditional offer
Glasgow - Declined Interview
Tufts - Interviewed 2/6 (in-state)
WSU - Rejected
UC Davis - Rejected

I was a first time applicant this year and figured that I had a better chance, statistically, if I applied to more schools. So, I applied to ten:

Cornell -- Accepted
UPenn -- Withdrew App
Tufts -- Rejected
Lousiana -- Withdrew App
Minnesota -- Rejected
Kansas -- Withdrew App
Iowa -- Invited to Interview (but declined)
Illinois -- Invited to Interview (but declined)
Ohio -- Invited to Interview (but declined)
Colorado -- Withdrew App

After hearing from Cornell (my IS), I did not send out Fall transcripts to the other schools and withdrew my application from the rest.

Candidate A (an awesome candidate) can be rejected at School X and accepted at School Y while Candidate B (a differently awesome candidate) can be rejected at School Y but accepted and School X.

Totally. Its actually encouraging to see that there are people with several rejections that also got in to some really great schools. I guess I would have expected more of the all or nothing posts.

Oh, and for me, just 2:
Wisconsin: no word yet
Illinois: Interviewed 2/18

Both letters should come end of this week or begining of next. I can barely open the mailbox, but I can barely stand waiting all day to get home to open the mailbox!

I applied to 11:

Iowa State - interviewed 11/30; waitlisted
Univ. of IL - interviewed 2/18
Univ. of FL - waitlisted for interview
Univ. of WI - still waiting on response
Tufts - rejected
CO State - rejected
LSU - rejected
Auburn - rejected
KS State - rejected
Univ. of MO - rejected
Univ. of MN - rejected

If I don't get in this year, I'll only re-apply to schools that interview! I think it's a really significant part of the application process.

I applied to 4 schools; only 4 free schools for GRE results and all semi on west coast:

UC Davis: IS, rejected
CSU: rejected
Western U: interviewed, now waiting
Oregon: OOS alternate

Just one for me... I am a junior so I didn't want to drop a load of my money to apply to a ton of schools.

Illinois: Interviewed 2/18 (IS) Accepted!!!

Supposedly, the letters should be here within the next couple of days!! :luck:

Wisconsin: Alternate
Penn: Haven't heard anything

6 schools:

CSU - Rejected
Davis - Rejected
Western - Interviewed, No word
Tufts - Waitlisted
Royal Veterinary College - Accepted

I applied to Cornell because of its Feline Health Center (I want to focus on feline internal medicine/geriatrics/oncology?), Tufts for their focus on ethics, Davis & Western 'cause they're IS, CSU for their oncology (& fam's in CO), and the RVC didn't require a supplemental app!
😀

First time applicant, I applied to 7 schools:

Auburn- rejected
Penn- rejected
Ross- will interview on 4/8
Tufts- rejected
U of Illinois- rejected
U of Iowa- app discarded because I had one more class (speech) that they wouldn't let me take over the summer
VA-MD- (IS) disqualified because I missed the supplemental app

I guess if I don't get into Ross, I'm going for it again next year!

Nothing embarrassing. There are people in my class that applied 3 times!

I applied to four, it's just so costly to apply to more:

Minnesota: Rejected without interview

I'm glad to be done with the process finally. Best of luck to those still waiting, keep the faith.
