How are you guys deciding how many schools to apply to? I just keep adding more thinking, "well, what if this school is the only one that accepts me. Better add it." It could go on forever....

Aww, I've been doing well. My new summer job is taking up a lot of time and right now I'm doing a graduate school course in a mini term (2 nights a week for 5 weeks) so I'm just trying to survive! The class isn't bad but the hours suck.

I've missed you too. I'm totally excited about submitting tomorrow!
 
Bump...today is the day for some of us...Amcas opened up 5 minutes ago.

There was a website error during my credit card verification, so I had to email the fine folks at AAMC to be sure it went through.

My front page says "Submitted - Ready for Review" so I wasn't putting in my credit card info again unless they told me I needed to. Don't want a chance of that big bill being taken out twice!

haha that would suck...apparently I got an email saying im on hold bc they dont have one transcript yet.

Kind of weird that I heard nothing from AMCAS in weeks, and then in 10 minutes I get 4 emails.
 
Still waiting. I'm impatient. LOL.

I think it took about 10 days - 2 weeks for verification last year...

Does anyone remember the first day AMCAS releases to med schools? (the date)

I heard the end of June.
 
Speaking of hearing from AMCAS, did anyone get that email a few weeks ago that UPenn is now participating in the Criminal Background Check program? I was so excited because I thought they had finally gotten my transcript, but then I realized they hadn't.

I called my school again to confirm when they sent out the transcript. Last week they told me May 27th, but yesterday they said the transcript was PRINTED on May 27th (the first day our degrees were posted), and that it was probablymailed out on the 28th or 29th. PROBABLY? Ugh, it makes me so irritated because it takes over two weeks for them just to input my degree onto my transcript, and then they don't even know when it was sent out.

Chubbs - did they ever get that transcript you had sent ages ago?
 
Wassup 2013! Congrats on submitting Cubbs and Grad! I know that felt good. I wish I could submit but I have to wait until July 1st. You guys think I will still be ok in terms of time?

Yeah. I'm in the same situation. Sent on the 23rd-27th (I hope!) and still not received. But CA takes longer...so I'm being patient.

Hey Berk, I have to wait for my last grades to come in from my postbacc. My last final is on June 10th and I heard it takes a couple of weeks to to get the final tranny. So that is why I believe July 1st is the earliest I can submit. What about you?

You can still submit. They will just hold your app until they get that last transcript. I don't know if it would save you any time that way, but it could... (and a day or two might make a difference, you never know!)

Nah, I'm still not done with my PS. I pretty much have to rewrite it, but I'm so much more excited about this one than I was about my original one. My older brother's going to help me - he was an English major and is an incredible writer. His law school PS got him a full scholarship.

Right now the deadline I've set for myself is June 14th (next Saturday). I don't think 10 days is going to hurt anything.

So soon? That's a bit surprising to me, as it has previously been June 21-24. I wouldn't be surprised if they just waited until the next MCAT release date after that, June 24th.
 
Chad they just got it today..sent out the 20th...received the 28th and they processed it the 4th.

Now just one more...but that one was sent out the 30th...so looks like I got a while, lol.

Yep, definitely June 24... AMCAS made a slip up with one of my transcripts and I had to call 3 times to try to get it straightened out today, and they told me on the last time that they would TRY to get it approved to be changed before the applications went out to schools on June 24. 🙄

Anyone else get reallllly nervous when they pushed that "Submit" button? I was freaked out that I missed some type, or spelled something wrong, or my PS could still have been edited... plus that $850 made me nervous too!

I may start on some secondary essay questions today (pull em from last years secondary thread). I'm aiming for a 2 day turnaround on all my secondaries.

So far, I've found all the ones that require essays except for South Alabama (and I dont remember from last year if they do or not). Two of my schools don't do essays 🙂

11 prompts so far. At least work won't be boring for the next 2-3 weeks. :laugh:

Oh, I know. I feel like there's very little I don't already have laid out for them... between the AMCAS proper and the PS. If we write too much for secondaries, what could we possibly have to say in interviews? haha.

Looks like Vandy is gonna be my booger. It's the worst essays of my schools... That, and alabama's "research" question. Wonder if i can leave that blank....?

Oh wait! I did some undergrad research that may dub over into the sciences. I'll talk about that.
 
So if my transcripts are verified, and the first batch does not go out until the 24th, what is that last day do you think before I need to click submit for the whole primary app?? Or do the transcripts only stay "received" until you submit? I have kind of been wondering why mine are not verified yet...

(I am really struggling with that PS)

I already did this once, you think that I would be better at it by now... lol 😛
 
Yea I'm also struggling with the PS. Tore it down twice now, nothing just seems to flow quite right for me.

My transcripts have been in and verified since the 22 so I'm set there, I just want to be out on the 24th as well.

Transcripts will only be "received" until you submit your primary app. They won't even look at them until your app has been submitted. It can only be "verified" once the app is in and they make sure your AMCAS coursework matches up. A lot of people around the forums have been using "verified" to say that their transcript has been received.

I would suggest submitting at least a week before the 24th to make sure your app is verified in time to go out first. Honestly, though, I don't think it makes much difference if your app is sent out June 24th or July 5th. Anytime in June or early July is still considered very early - it's getting the secondaries in ASAP that really counts.
