Good evening guys!! I am kind of en joying classes and even considering taking more than the bare minimum. how is everyone's semester starting off?

I love chihuahua's and this was the cutest I found online... I wish I could get one but I know that I will nto be able to take care of a dog during med school, but my bf and I are thinking about getting a cat since they are easier to take care of.

thanks everyone. I even managed to do a little yoga tonight. just some good stretches and deep breathing, nothing that would make me cough. makes me happy to be able to do something.

My vote for today: PNAS. The journal is structured all backwards with the materials and methods near the end (as if materials and methods were 'no big deal'). A pretty large number of the submissions (maybe 80% or so) are crap or near-crap -- poorly thought up or executed or explained -- because they are only 'sort-of peer reviewed'. And by 'sort-of peer-reviewed', I mean you can probably get your buddy from grad school to read over your submission and say 'yup, looks good to me.'

I always thought PNAS was a solid journal? No Nature of course but still. Also, methods can get really, really technical. I am much more interested in results/conclusions.

Same here, that is if it lives up to my expectations and provided I dont get a scholarship someplace else (which I am not expecting)

Gotta get an interview first...I mailed off a LOI today, I guess it should get there friday or saturday.

Oh... don't count on it living up to your expectations... they do absolutely NOTHING to sell themselves, but it is not like they have to...

It would be awesome if both of us would be there next year, cuz by the looks of it, none of us are going to the same schools🙁
