Thanks for the kind words everyone. I've decided the best thing to do is if I do look at SDN to just stay on the social threads and try to resist the interview/school specific threads. Ie. feeling about the same today, but at least it's Friday and I've got a good weekend lined up. Party, bbq, hiking, what more could you ask for to get your mind off of this process? 🙂 What's everyone else up to?

YAY! I got a new toy - a brandnew Littman Cardiology III Series Stethoscope for 75% off retail. It's a pediatric/adult combo so i'm very excited. Should compliment my lightweight Littman quite well and get me through a few years of med school at least.

I am good. They are coming. I have finished Pitt, Morehouse, Meharry. I still have to finish USC. How bout u?

I heard those were pretty nasty!!! I am not excited about doing the USC secondary. But I got to get it done.
 
Oh, weekends...never thought I'd hate them...and never thought I'd get so nervous about every (1) next to my Gmail link...

Now if the 3 last secondaries I'm missing would just come in so I could get this whole step over with, it'd be super. Then again, I have a feeling that if I'm really restless now I'll be far, far worse once the ball is definitely no longer in my court.

Am I the only one who's happy that I don't have to write any more essays? Waiting is bad...but it's still better than having to write those essays!
what are the last 3 secondaries you're waiting on? i have loyola and davis. they're so slow!

Haha I don't know, I definitely hate the essays too but at least that makes me feel like I have some control over this crazy process, instead of just sitting and waiting idly while wondering if my file was already thrown in the "no" pile a while ago.

I'm waiting on Emory, Drexel and Loyola. Why oh why are they all so slow??!

Thanks!!!! I know I can't even tell you how excited I am! I booked my flight today, am looking into cheap hotels and all that...I just feel so lucky to even have made it this far at such a great school. I know my chances even now are only 1 in 4 but hey, hopefully they'll like me!!!

They said they should release their secondary mid-september cuz of construction on the admissions office and they don't want to lose or misplace our secondaries

Wow! That's really late...but it's better. it gives you time to finish all the other secondaries out there before the really important one comes in.

Yeah, that's true. That is why I am not worried about it. When it comes I will be playing the waiting game and I can concentrate just on it.

I don't know if I have told you but congrats on Vandy!!! I am sure you are going to blow their socks off! One of my closest friends is a 3rd year there and she loves it.

Awww thanks! 😍 I have heard really great things about the school and I know the people who are there really love it, so I'll be really excited to see it. I'm a big gut-feeling type of person, so I'm hoping to immediately know whether it's a good fit or not. Of course, I hope they'll think I'm a good fit too!!!

This interview process is definitely stressful, but I do think it'll be even harder after we get interviews and have to wait for months to get a definitive answer. Wouldn't it be nice to have a great acceptance October 15th so we can withdraw from just about every other school?!

LMAO..... me too. At least we're not alone guys. And I second staying off the interview threads, it will make you go crazy.

Fortunately for me, I am boxing up my life and moving on Wednesday, so at least the clutter will keep me occupied....

Not checking my email every two minutes felt daring, does that count? 😛

It was a relaxing weekend with some hiking and hanging too though - I feel so much better about life today than I did on Friday. 😀
 
Hey everyone!

well, I spent Saturday doing med school-related stuff, but did none of that yesterday! Which felt glorious. I spent most of the day cooking with a friend of mine, then watched the olympics. That 4x100 relay was AMAZING!!

I see all of you guys were mentally healthy this weekend and stayed away from the evils of email! Good job, good job....I'm so proud...now if I could only do that too!

I'm not too tempted by the e-mail gods right now. The only thing I can get is the date/time of my interview from one school (which told me I was getting one already. YAY!) or an invitation to fill out the secondary from a long-shot school. I'm not obsessing too much about either one right now, so I'm just doing interview prep junk.

I didn't get to see the 4x100 this weekend, so now I feel like I've missed a huge cultural thing. If it weren't for nbc.com I would have no idea what you all are talking about. 🙁
