Well, I'm going to go out to the mall for a few hours. It's not going to make me feel any better (I really despise shopping more than I can express) but it's something I have to do and it will probably distract me from waiting for the mail.

Well according to Watchmen, New York is in deep doo doo, so Columbia has to consider that in our disappointment.

I was reading online reviews (I never read the comic before) and all I kept hearing were things along the lines of "OMG, I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY TOOK OUT THE SQUID!" 😕

Yeah... read the graphic novel. 😛

I understand WHY they took out the squid-thing, because in order to shoehorn it in it would have probably added 30min-1hr, and it was already outrageously long. But it really was pretty important to the plot, and it was kind of disappointing.

Yeah, I've been embarrassed w/ several things I've done this semester... but honestly, at this point I'm finding that spending time w/ my college friends that I may not see again for a long, long time, if ever, after this semester is just more important than busting my butt on something that just doesn't matter anymore.

haha! YaY... It seems Brownie has some serious gum disease issues. The visit today cost me $325, which I wasn't expecting. And they want to do dental work, which will cost upwards to $660. This is just very expensive and my parents don't understand why everything is so expensive.

I am normally the first one to leave the apartment in the morning, generally when everyone else is asleep... Today I am staying in to write my paper since I am not feeling well, and I have realized that my roommates are weird in the morning... One is really angry, one is out of it, and one is freaking out that he is almost about to miss class...

just got home from gym. I think it's time that I take another 2 week break. Simply exhausted from 9 weeks straight of workouts, plateauing again.

Didn't you hurt yourself? You probably shouldn't be lifting if you are injured.

If you're healthy though, you don't need to stop working out, just change your workout up a bit.

For example, if you were doing 5x5s, switch to 3x3 at 110% of your max weight, if you were doing 3x10s, switch up to 5x5 or maybe 2x4 with 110-120% max weight.

The body is very capable of recovering from workouts, even daily workouts. Last year I lifted 6x a week for 4 months in a row in the spring and moved up my 1RM and 5RMs 20% during that time period (a lot given how long i've lifted)

yea, my shoulder doesn't hurt anymore now, I have full mobility in my neck again so I went in today. I was doing 3x5's or 3x6's before.

3x5-3x6? what kind of work load is that? Either do a strict 5x5 with 3-5% weekly load increase or a traditional 3x8-10 split if you aren't doing HST. You aren't going to gain well from that kind of set load especially if you try to increase the weight too quickly.

I think 5x5/HIT is the best way to lift if you have the time to do it, you get both good hypertrophy and strength increases with that regimen. If you're on a crash bulking schedule, HST with > 1g/lb of BW of protein is probably effective, and a 3x8-10 split is probably a good way to maintain a lifting schedule with a normal routine, but I'm not entirely seeing the benefit of that sort of set load.

I go in 3 times a week, and switch between 2 different rountines

And yea, I've been eating about 3500-4000 calories a day.

I also do 2-3 different exercises per muscle group.

You're increasing your load too quickly with not enough reps to get good teardown. If you're using dumbbells that's a 10% increase in load per session. You should only be doing that in a HST framework in which you're doing full body workouts with a lower set load with higher initial rep load, and even then, you shouldn't be increasing at 10% per week.

I was reading The New High Intensity Training: The Best Muscle-Building System You've Never Tried by Ellington Darden last night, and in it he mentioned this bicep workout that supposedly can make men vomit (a little melodramatic...but I get the point)....I thought that was odd b/c the method he mentioned I assumed was standard curl protocol.

It just involves doing barbell curls with 10 lbs less than max...elbows at your sides...3 seconds up...hold and sqeeze for one second...then 3 seconds down. This guy says you should only be able to complete 6 with that specific weight/and technique until you have to break form to finish out the last few reps....Once I get the book I'll post just for feedback

I just ordered the book (used of course)...but I'm interested to read up on it

I move up the 5 lb's about every 2 weeks. I was able to progress this way for the past 9 weeks but now I can't go up that fast anymore so that's why I was thinking of taking a break, since next week is spring break, and this week I'll be super busy trying to not fail any midterms.

What would you recommend I do once I resume?
Right now my two routines are:

A:
Deadlift
Barbell Bench Press

Romanian Deadlift
Dumbbell Incline Bench Press

Barbell Lunges
Barbell Decline Bench Press

Cable Triceps Pulldown
Abs


B:
Clean and Press
Lat Pull

Back Squat
Dumbbell One Arm Row

Front Squat
Barbell Biceps Curl

Abs
Obliques

I would rather be a skilled marksmen than a muscly man.

Potassium Iodide may be my saving chemical in this project.

I don't want to be Arnold, but I'd like some muscles so I can physically survive surgery residency.

Those countries have huge well-funded archery programs and dominated every time. Well, mostly it's Korea dominating, but still.👍
