Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
since it's match? yeah... i mean your first 3 years of the program are in general surgery so I guess in that case it REALLY DOESN'T MATTER where you live lol. the ~60 hours a week you'd spend outside of work will probably be spent sleeping or eating anyways 🙂
Guess you're right. guess i'm going to be studying hard in med school cuz i'm not interested in doing something w/the hours of general surgery 😛

I envy all you lucky bastards going to bed. I've been stuck on a train, halfway to where I was heading, for the past four hours. Once we start moving, I have three more hours. I have to interview tomorrow. Argh. I have an acceptance but decided to go on my remaining invites that I didn't accidentally default on. We better star moving before 6am or I could actually be late. Damn you Amtrak!

🙁 That sucks. Good luck and good night!

I know Amtrak can be unreliable but seriously. Four hours? Another train tore down the power wires. I don't envy the guys who had to wake up and work on this. I should try to sleep again... Yay uncomfortable travel sleep! I miss my bed. 🙁

Edit: we're moving! Finally!

Good morning.

I feel so conflicted... it is Spring Break, so I wanna go back to sleep, but it is a full day of research also, so I feel I should wake up, and go to the gym...

Here's my own tribute to St. Patrick's Day:

I just found out that they're combining two Orgo 3 classes into one for tonight. Not sure if this will be such a good thing...

Morning funky and everyone else who may or may not be up yet 🙂

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My friend's dad is having colorectal cancer surgery this morning. Those of you who are the praying type, please join me in sending up good thoughts for him that they can get the cancer.

May the Luck o' the Irish be with those of you on waitlists!

Is anyone else facing anxiety about leaving college? The anguish of med school aside, I always find it hard to leave people. I could probably sit here and think about it for fifteen minutes and starting crying...lame.

You're not alone. Luckily I'm too busy to think about it for fifteen minutes.

Not lame 🙂

I'm not leaving college, I'm changing my life. For me this is more exciting than anxiety-inducing.

I used to think I was fine, but apparently I am suffering from anxiety for similar reasons as you.

I'm excited about starting anew! I'll miss seeing the familiar faces, but a) that's what the series of tubes is for and b) new friends and faces!!

There's an orgo 3? DOES THAT HELL NOT END?!

He'll be in my prayers today 😀 I hope everything goes well

Happy St Patty's everyone. fun fact: St Patty's is actually my half birthday

overheard on espn... "If New England lands Julius Peppers, everytime an opposing QB drops back to pass it's gonna look like the shower scene from American History X."

lol @ the hyperbole and also a little 😱

Lol, whoops I should have clarified 😳 It's for Kaplan (I teach an MCAT prep class) and they divide Organic Chemistry (1+2) into 3 separate units.

But I just found out that even though it's double the class size now, I get paid the same amount. WTF?!? Apparently I'm paid by the hour (not by class size) so even though they're combining two separate sections into one, they're pocketing the extra money. Douches! 😡

I've never actually calculated when my half birthday is.

EDIT: You can find anything online! I just googled "half-birthday" and found this website http://peterjanes.ca/peterj/half-birthday.cgi which tells you your half birthday. Mine is June 9 🙂

Bacchus, I completely understand. Even though I'm super excited to be following a dream I've had for so long, there is an element of anxiety in leaving the familiar and going into the unknown.

My friends/family are very supportive, and becoming part of my class facebook page was helpful as well. I've "met" several people I'll be in class with and that lessens the anxiety of "omgidontknowanyone".

Wait, they actually said that on air? Geez Louise...

Peppers isn't THAT good.

I get anxiety attacks about plunging into the unknown every once and awhile (ie. once every day 😀) but then I remember that I felt the same about going away to college all alone & that turned out okay... so hopefully this will too.

yea that site is saying march 19th for my half birthday... I prefer St Patty's haha

Ditto! However, since I started college (SIX years ago 😱) a lot of things have changed. I made tons of friends (which obviously means I can do it again, but doesn't make it easier to leave) and my parents bought a house where I'm at now... so I'm not truly on my own anymore (and haven't been for about 2.5 years). So it's sorta like starting allll over.
