Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You're talking to the guy who included it on his application

I am super-geek! 😀

Haha, that must have been an interesting topic during your interviews 😛

"Well, I play Mountain then Lightning Bolt, wait what was the question again?"

Just did the MSAT (Medical Specialty Aptitude Test) and guess what my #1 is?

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

Peds! Who would have thought?! Almost full results available in my blog.

How fitting 😀

Where do you take that test? I wonder what my specialty would be...

Ohhhh sweet...well right now it is my top choice by far

I will run my planned approach (specifically...meaning what I will e-mail to the dean) by LizzyM.

Thanks guys!!!

hahahahahaha...yeah...sorry

School A is throwing $$$$ at me and I am hoping to get School B to at least match the offer. I call School B's fin. aid office and spoke to a lady who told me essentially all scholarships had been awarded (she was not head of fin aid dept). I was wondering what should I do next? Should I e-mail the dean of admissions?

All that other stuff was me playing around...part inside joke about a certain X-SDNer who went crazy"

Haha there you go, much more coherent now. I was wondering what you meant about the part with the scholarships having been awarded (that part wasn't worded well in your original post). I would imagine that not everyone who gets a scholarship at school B will matriculate, so you may yet get something down the line (i.e. a recycled scholarship) if you let them know that's what it'll take.

This is pure conjecture but I think the dean of admissions has a bigger stake in considering your request/ultimatum than the head of financial aid. The head of finaid probably couldn't care less whether you come to the school or not, wheras the dean of admissions might consider you an essential addition to the class, etc. and be willing to do what it takes, or worry about the acceptance yield (not having to go to the waitlist), whatever reasons. It depends on how competitive you think you are, or how much leverage you think you may have.

So perhaps if I were in your shoes, I'd call up the finaid office again and find out what happens if someone declines these scholarships - do they get recycled? And how do they decide who gets those? If there's a slight possibility that you could get it, then at that point call up the dean of admissions and go something like, "I really love your school, the educational opportunities and would be happy to matriculate. But finances make it difficult to commit right away, and ____ in finaid said there might be scholarships later. This would certainly solidify my decision to matriculate, but without that, I doubt I will be able to". Depends on how heavy-handed you want to be.

Just my 2c... congrats on the scholarship to school A!

Yeah, real pros go: Mountain, Black Lotus, Channel, Fireball.

At least I think that's how it went. I dabbled briefly when it first came out but I had too much other stuff going on so I never got back to it.

Yes, I was gonna suggest that too 😀

So many other spicy plays too...

"Mountain, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Seething Song, Rite of Flame, Dragonstorm, fetch 4 Bogardan Hellkites FTW!" :meanie:

For the record, all of these plays are ridiculous rare... usually it's a lot more fun and interactive 🙂

It's my back-up back-up plan. I much prefer babies to moms, but at least there are babies involved some of the time

I used to think gynecology was cool.

Now I'm not so sure I could deal with all of the XXs all the time.

Is anyone here planning to go into OB?

I really like OB & I've shadowed a few & found it really interesting. The only thing holding me back from loving it is the cost of malpractice insurance 😱 it's horrendous!

See? Even women can't stand being around other women all the time 😛

But, it's all I do 😀
