Hey hey... actually done with secondaries at the moment; still waiting on 5 but until they come in I'm actually enjoying some free time.

I did an overnight EMT shift last night... saw a crazy laceration that was a near evisceration. Definitely the goriest thing I have seen yet. I can't wait for med school!

Haha this is why I love SDN. The only people besides me who'd see a near-complete evisceration and go "COOL! I hope to see another one soon!" 👍 we're so great.

In other news, I'm done with almost all the secondaries. This past weekend I wrote 9 essays for UCLA, 3 for Stanford, 3 for Northwestern, the 4-page autobiography for UCSD and the 5 horrifying Duke essays. It has been a LOOOOONG weekend. But I'm done now 😀 which is just glorious. I'm thinking celebratory margaritas tonight.

Now I'm waiting on Vandy (which is never gonna happen, but hey, here's to hoping :luck:), Loyola, Emory and Drexel. Pretty sure Emory and Drexel have no essays, so it's really only Loyola. Woohoo!

And now....we wait....

I'm trying to get motivated to finish these secondaries! I am working on University of Maryland, which isn't going to be quite as bad as I had imagined. I am GOING to submit it tonight if it's the death of me. I'm trying to decide which one to do next: Georgetown or NYU? Decisions, decisions...
 
NICU was great, thanks for asking! Small census today, but that means healthy babies, which makes me happy. One of my little bitty twins from last week got an awful pneumothroax yesterday, it was remarkable on xray. Definitely learned something there. The kiddo is doing well now that he has the chest tube.
Another set of twins were born yesterday... blonde haired blue eyed baby girls. They make me want twins! (34.5 weeks, they are doing well) Something in the water, twins are everywhere.

Hoping Vandy comes thru soon for me too. I haven't heard from U of TN either, anyone else?

Back to financial aid tomorrow. I'm going to keep one of my coworker's baby tomorrow night and he's only ten weeks so I'm excited about that.

Well, yesterday morning I got an interview invite from the Medical College of Georgia for Friday, August 15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm applying EDP so that's why I've gotten word so soon. I'm so unbelievably stoked!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, good luck to everyone and keep your heads up. Enjoy the ride for what it is.

Word. Congratulations! I always thought EDP would be great since you get to have the whole process over so much sooner (assuming that you get accepted, which I am assuming you will 😉).

As for me, I'm in purgatory everywhere. Hardly any progress in over a week, it's driving me insane. Breathe. Breathe, Breathe.

My babysitting adventure went off without a hitch last night. Best baby ever - not one fussy moment except when hungry and he slept all night (at 10 wks in a strange place, that's an amazing feat.!

Today is my going-away lunch in finaid, it was the last day everyone was gonna be here (one coworker out tom, another fri). 26.5 hours til I'm freeeeeee!

Happy hump day everybody!

So today is the first day in this process (the first of many I'm sure) that I feel demoralized. I know it's super early, and I know the only people who get interviews at this point are the INSANELY competitive, but I find myself rehashing everything that went wrong in undergrad, from the horrible professors to the classes I had trouble with, wishing I had done something differently.

Sigh, I know everything will be ok in the end, but right now I just wish I was sure of it....

This process is depressing.

Its ok LET! For real, you are going to do big things this cycle. Everybody has to have down moments during this process. It's good though. I still 😍 you!!! Everything is going to be wonderfully blessed in the end! No doubt!
 
Hi '13ers...

I'm really dragging today. I actually only have my Stony Brook secondary to do and I just can't bring myself to do it. Thank goodness it is pouring here... I'm totally in the mood for a dreary day. If only it would motivate me to get some things done! I have free time now and I can't bring myself to do anything...

Blah. I need to go sleep somewhere dark for a week.

Fairly depressing day on the 2013 board, huh? 🙁🙁

As for me, I'm dragging - sleepy, with no real reason other than the middle of the week. And frustrated that Tennessee hasn't delivered yet.... and ready to set up interviews at my other schools!

If it isn't one thing, it's another in this process 🙄
 
So sad....🙁 I haven't received any interviews yet, and to top things off, I got my first pre-interview hold today. 🙁 It was from SUNY Upstate (by e-mail, since I know someone will ask. I'm OOS, since I know someone may ask that too).

I know it's still the beginning of August, but some people already have 5 or more interviews! CRAZY. I'm usually quite positive...but I think I've just passed neutral, and i'm heading toward negative...

I just read your post (after posting mine..) and I certainly empathize. It's nice to know that i'm not the only one feeling like this.

Sigh...yup, I empathize as well. I didn't foresee that this would be the main problem with SDN: being one of the less competitive people on this forum means I'll be getting interviews later than most...if I get any at all. It's just going to be a long, long month.

I'm trying to keep things in perspective by remembering that most of my schools aren't even offering interviews yet, or have given out very few (tufts, boston, uvm, harvard, emory, wake, temple, yale, dartmouth, umass). Hmm. Looking at that, I really need to STFU.

Eh, no, today is a wallowing day. :cry:

Truly it is the dark side of SDN. Don't worry though, there are plenty of us middle-of-the-pack people out there lurking.

Sounds like most of us have had better days. I can't believe ppl have upwards of 5+ interviews already!! Gah, I guess that's what I get for being so selective about where I'm applying 😀+pity+:smack:
 
Guys, please try not to sweat it that much. Look at my profile if need be: I have an interview with a 26K on my MCAT. All of you have something to offer medical schools, and they will see that. Take comfort in knowing that you put yourself out there, and I am sure they will see it that way as well. It is still very early in the cycle. I am very humbled by each and every one of you. The class of 2013 is going to produce some amazing physicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I just saw this, and I wanted to weigh in. I have two interviews at this point and, trust me on this, I am NOT uber-competitive. I'm a re-applicant that has a prior history with my state schools, so that's all that is. I'm not a 3.9/40R guy or anything.

It's finally Thursday! I was supposed to be doing a different assignment for my last two days of work, but the new girl took her baby to get his shots yesterday and he's running fever this morning, so no daycare for him. She'll be in at lunch.

In the meantime, here I sit, with limited computer access due to our lovely new "QUOTA TIME" rules (certain sites are flagged like facebk, amazon, game sites, myspace, etc) of an hour of free personal internet time a day. Work related internet is available all day.

BUT SDN isn't quota-ed.... HAHAHAHAHAHA :laugh::laugh::laugh: If only they knew how much time I spend here.....

Seriously, I love SDN for this. When it comes up in the browsing history it actually looks like something reputable too. Little do they know at my work what a time waster it is... 😀

I'm just trying to send out some ray of hope to people who are where I was last cycle. I'm actually a little surprised I got interviews this early, really.

Yeah, SDN is a little bit of a creepy place. Keep your heads up, guys! LET, you have some great EC's, and awesome MCAT and obviously a great personality.. don't get down! It's still way too early for anything to happen. 😉

Hope everyone has a good weekend (It starts on Friday, right?) and doesn't think too much about this application nonsense.

Glad to know i am not the only one that let spending to much time on this site get me all CRAZY 😱.

I didnt have a problem with it before, but i guess since i applying this year, it has a different effect.

i guess i should spend more time working and less time here, I think work makes me less crazy.. :scared:

Hey all,

thanks for the positive wishes, and I'm glad to see so many of you are in the same boat. I am finally realizing why people say that the waiting is the worst part of the process- cause every day you have no news, you assume you're just being strung along while other people are getting in. However, I've never been the crazy competitive "what did you get on this exam" type, and am not planning on becoming that now. I'm just going to go ahead and have faith that things will somehow work themselves out....
😍 you all. Let's hope we all get into one of our top choices.
