Class of 2013!!!

At least I'm not the only one in interview limbo. I keep thinking that maybe they are assigning EDP interviews first, and mine are right around the corner... :scared: A full inbox would make for a very happy 23rd birthday (You hear that Mississippi? Tulane? Alabama? South Alabama? Tennessee?)

Must go eat with the extended fam tonight, start the celebrating a few days early. :hardy:

Haha wow now I'm definitely wondering what the hell Sinai was thinking....I'm sure you'll all get it! Seriously. I'll be positively shocked if you don't. Same for Pitt, Raryn. You will all be alright. Wait until the Ivies start- you'll all be kicking serious booty.

And you won't even need to be poking someone's eyeball or punching people's faces. It's going to be oooooookkkkkk.

On the other hand, I'd like another interview, as greedy as that is. It'd be nice. Mostly I'm just a little bored.
Sinai claims they still don't have my letters and I sent them like 8/5. Bah! I'll call again Wednesday, and if its still not there I'm gonna resend them.

And I've only been complete at Pitt since yesterday morning, but I'm getting impatient. I want my first interview invite... Will be (temporarily) satisfied once I get it >.<

It took nine days from my complete notice to my interview invite, just so you know. Hang in there!

Well, it's Tuesday morning. We're head-long into the week now.

How's everyone doing? Anxiously awaiting interview invites? Got some already? What's the deal?

Good morning Loss. I am doing good. I am settling in back at home in Los Angeles and I am chillaxin! I have 2 interviews at some sports medicine clinics so we shall see what the good Lord has in store for me. I just submitted my USC secondary yesterday and my letters just got sent yesterday so I know I have a while until I hear anything about interviews. Still just waiting to hear from Howard, UCLA/Drew, UC Davis and UCLA Prime. How about yourself and everybody else?

Just livin' the dream here at work. Trying to get myself ready for interviews by reading stuff that might be helpful. Healthcare stuff, old research junk, stuff like that. It's hard to get motivated though....

Awesome! Congrats gradu8!

Grrr... I was waiting for a patient to be done with her appointment so I could do my survey with her - it was taking a while so I figured I'd go check just to make sure she still had time to do it. Well, when I checked her room, she was gone! She just left without telling me... so here I am sitting in a room waiting for her when she's already gone. That's so rude. Maybe I'll be able to recruit someone else. 🙁

Update: I found my patient in the waiting room, but she said her ride was almost there and she wouldn't be able to participate today. 😡 I hope she realized that I was waiting for her all afternoon.

At least I got to work on some NYU secondary essays! Hopefully I can finish them up in the next little bit and submit. 👍

Thanks guys! I'm still letting it all soak in. Of all the interview possibilities, I can't believe TULANE scheduled first!

Congrats gradu8! I got one from Tulane today too, sad it's not on the same day as you (9/29)!

That is sad, it'd be fun!

Things are going well here... settling into a routine of sorts, with all eyes on Fay. There's still speculation that it may come back into the Gulf, so I'm crossing my fingers that it dies out quickly and doesn't get to go back anywhere! :scared: I'd prefer NOT to have a hurricane on my birthday!

Yay! I got my second interview invite today! VCU on 9/30!!!!!!

In other news, I was cast in another show and I'm completely torn - I really want to do it, but it opens like 5 days after my other show finishes, and I'm worried about stretching myself too thin. I'll probably end up doing it anyway.

Thanks guys!

I called the director of the other show and I decided to do it, too. It's going to be a super busy fall season, but I'm excited about it. She was very willing to work around my schedule, which was really nice. 👍 I have another audition for the big Christmas production at my church coming up next week, too. I'm so excited to be involved in so many productions for my year off! 😀

congrats Chad! I know it has to feel good so far. I am playing the waiting game. I have sent off 4 secondaries and I am waiting for 4 more. I had 2 interviews yesterday at some sports medicine clinics out here to be a physical therapy aide. Lord willing 1 of them will come thru. How is everybody else doing?

That's great! Staying busy is SUPER important these days, so you don't go crazy! 🙂

Happy b'day gradu8! :hardy: I just got an interview invite from AECOM! Think I can use this as leverage at Columbia and Mt. Sinai?

Happy Birthday Grad! ..and happy Interview-Invite Day for everyone that's received one!

Somehow August seems so early for all this to be getting kicked off, but hey, the earlier the better!

Woot interview invites! Just got mah first one. It looks so pretty on my spreadsheet.

Just got done with my first faculty and staff luncheon... now its on to the homemade strawberry cake my coworker created for my birthday (i swear, she's betty crocker). My coworker/friends went together and got me a really nice engraved name plate for my new desk. Its so pretty! I've always wanted one of those hahaha.

Congrats on the interview Grad. Oh yeah, happy belated birthday. Hope you had a blessed one.

I had a good day yesterday too. I found out that I got a secondary from UCLA/Drew!!! I know it is only a secondary but I really thought I was going to get screened out by UCLA, but God is good and I didn't.

Well, done. I'm still waiting on a secondary from UT-Memphis. I'm starting to think it'll never make it here...

I haven't gotten UT-Mem either. *Sigh*. Other than that, I'm waiting to hear back from the Alabama schools for interview and that's it. My September is getting busy!

I hear that. September is picking up for me as well, though that's because of work and not interivews. It's pretty nice to have a lazy Sunday today though. Did a butt-load of Sudoku puzzles today with my coffee. Good start to the day...

Well, I guess I wasn't the only one out enjoying the weekend. Everyone else must be out having a good time!

Well, I went out, but it was to read a book on healthcare that I bought so I can be ready when they ask me about issues in healthcare.

What have the rest of you been up to?

Should've been reading too, but hung out with the gf instead.

What book did you read? I'm looking for a good one on heathcare stuff.

Haha your day sounds much more entertaining than mine, although mine did include yummy ice cream.

As for the book, it's called "Who killed health care", and it's by Regina Herzlinger. I didn't think I'd like it, but I do. The author is an economist (professor at Harvard Business) so it's mostly through the point of view of how all the issues with healthcare affect the economy as well as the individual patients. She's a great writer though, very impassioned, and she makes some great points- and she does so in a really simple way. So yeah I'd recommend it, although I don't know how useful it is if you're a real beginner and don't know how HMO's work, and PPO's, etc.

Fair enough. What was her final opinion? She think it's all doomed to fail, could be salvaged, what? I've read a few doomsday heathcare books, so it'd be nice to read something slightly optimistic.

Hmmm I haven't gotten there yet really, but as far as I can tell she seems to believe that the way things are going, it's hopeless and horrible, but she does propose a really clever solution that hopefully someone will adopt at some point. So it's a little bit of both I guess (hopeful and doomsday-ish)?

Hey LET, know any good "beginner book"? I don't really know that much...

I'm actually not sure. This one is really a good overview of what's wrong with every branch of things: the insurance companies, the hospitals, the people who choose insurance companies, the government....so it does give you a good idea of what's going on. I think it's probably safe to start with this one if you first take a look at, say, Wikipedia, or just basic internet articles (I'd suggest looking up stuff like PPO/HMO, Medicare/Medicaid, also the article "Healthcare is not a right" is interesting whether you believe it or not, things like that). It's actually explained in very simple terms, but it is helping me to know the basics of some of these things. Anyways, if you have specific questions, you can PM me! (not that I'm an expert, by any means, but I usually have luck finding answers to stuff...)

Has anyone heard back from Yale yet? Positive or negative?

No. I still don't even know if I'm complete at Yale. So irritating....
BTW, does anybody have the e-mail address to Yale where we can send questions?
