Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Eh, I am waiting to take a shower... My roommates all decided that today they would wake up early... Usually they are all sleeping when I leave for class... but not today🙁

Ha! I have a slight inclination that third year med school won't be just 3 days a week.

More like 3 days straight... But hey, that is what we are waiting to do, so I think it is gonna be fun... I cannot wait for med school to begin.... August, where are you!

So I had a dream last night that I was at my Columbia interview... but there were like 100 students in a big room, and they decided that instead of sending acceptances in March they would just call out the applicants that were accepted that day. Well they only called about 5 people and I wasn't one of them... 🙁 Thank God it was only a dream.
What the hell, chad!? Stop having these sad dreams!

I can't wait either. I'm sooo excited. Yesterday I was :scared:😱 but today I'm 😀:hardy: again. I've started the transition process in my head.

Is any one else getting alternating cold feet?

I definitely am... I am wondering if I will be able grasp all the material... I remember I got really freaked out when I heard about the Suicide at Baylor in November, and I started to wonder if I would be able to handle everything, 😱

And then I get all excited about the prospect of donning the white coat and being all doctorly😀

I was talking with my sister yesterday, and she was studying for her physio, histo, and histo practical which is today, and she was telling me that she needs to reread her Personal Statement because at that moment she could not remember why she wanted to be a doctor:laugh:

I'm sure we'll all have our moments of doubt, but in the end, it'll all be worth it 🙂

I'm a little worried about the material, but sadly not horribly. It's the transition period - leaving something and somewhere I'm so familiar with to do something so not famililar. I've been here for 6 years, so it'll be different for sure. I hate transitions, and moving in general. As soon as I get settled and in a routine, I will be much much more confident.

I can finally post on this site because I just got accepted at the University of Arizona- Tucson!!!

😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Congrats and welcome!

By the way, I've just been notified that my LOI was delivered yesterday at 11:48 am! Woo hoo!

My :luck: is with you.

We just got an email about financial aid - I got all excited thinking it was about scholarship, but it was just a reminder to do taxes and fafsa and such so I shot them an email back asking when we would be hearing... they had originally said starting in January (and they don't process us for loans and such this early) so I wanted to check....
:xf:

Yes... they are, thanks to Myuuchan, chad, and other peoples...

So how are you doing?

Busy, as evidenced by the time it took me to respond. 😳

Got a good job, a good fiance, and a good start on wedding planning. Now all I need is a few extra hours in the day to fit them all in!

Thanks everyone!! Wow, this is real! I almost can't believe it :soexcited:

Heeeeeey everyone! 🙂

Man... it feels SOOOOOOOO much better to be in school when you're actually making a concerted effort to get your 8 hrs of sleep/ night! 😀

Ditto for work!

Plus, a random act of kindness by a thoughtful coworker led to a fan being placed on my desk during lunch.... 😀

I guess my incessant coughing was attributed (partially) to the 75-80 degree temperatures INSIDE our office. Crazy. Goes from 50 in here to 80. No wonder the asthmatic can't breathe.

Wow that's rough....

Alright, off to the easiest science class in the land, Astronomy 🙂

Uh....what?????? suicide at Baylor???

😱😱😱

Whoa, never heard about that.

I read about it on SDN... here is the link to the thread....

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=7407184

🙁 I'll have to read it a little later but thanks for the link, funky.

OK, I'm off to volunteer at hospice.

----
Geezz...one of my very bright, incredibly immature, and unmarried guy friends just had a daughter (well, I guess his girlfriend technically had the child).

Is it weird to see the people you used to know being responsible for little live beings? 😱

I dunno anyone who's had any kids recently. It's scary to think that's it going to start happening soon though.

Top! That's two in a row!

Have fun at the hospice... err actually that sounds kind of weird...

Oh and people with kids... wow... I know only two of my friends who are married...

Most of my friends are married, and a few have kids now. One of my close friends has an 8 month old, my best friend will probably be pregnant during my first year of med school... she's been married 3 years now. It'll be my niece or nephew - i'm an only child, so she's the closest thing I have to a sister 🙂 It IS weird... and I can't lie, I'm jealous sometimes. I want this (my career, etc) but I want that too (the 2.5 kids, white picket fence family).

But we're young still...there's plenty of time!

Oh nice! I didn't even know those were out yet. I miss HP as well...but I'm kind of glad JK Rowling has resisted the temptation (so far) of writing more HP books that potentially won't live up to the original 7.

I've been so busy lately, and really neglecting this thread.

part ofme kinda wishes she would... but only in an addict's kind of way LOL:whistle:

I'm taking medical anthropology class right now...it's so interesting! My prof is also a midwife and she's given a few at home births just this week. It's interesting to hear about the contrast in how 99% of people here go to the hospital to give birth (increasingly by c-section of course) but in places like the UK its the exact opposite...everyone uses a midwife and they only go to the hospital if its an emergency.

i was always one of those people who wanted a c-section until i heard about "orgasmic birth" on natgeo (i believe?) and now im reconsidering. lol

omg, greys is amazing.

yes! 😍

Bye BD2B! We're all rooting for you!

good luck!!!

Lol, men just express their emotions differently than women. We don't necessarily need to talk about them at length or anything.

so how do you express your emotions if not by talking?

My week is already over...hehe, I do not have classes on Friday

But I have to come into lab on Saturday though... and I have a presentation next week, so lots of homework and stuff to do though...

Oh, and Berk, congrats on being promoted to a MOD!

congrats berk!
and this is my first ever semester of no classes on fridays.

are you moving far away?

congratulations!!

so how do you express your emotions if not by talking?

Indirectly. Sports and alcohol are therapeutic for an assortment of emotions, from frustration/anger to sadness/depression.

Plus, isn't like 90% of communication non-verbal? Body language, facial expressions, etc.

I saw that orgasmic birth thing on Extra or something! What the heck was that! haha
