Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm not even expecting much of anything from that movie. The trailer looked terrible and I don't see them going anywhere good with the story. All I expect to see is lots of explosions (ala michael bay's belief that if you combine anything with fire you get a huge-ass explosion) and...that's it.

 I can appreciate that stance. Particularily the "ala michael bay's belief that if you combine anything with fire you get a huge-ass explosion"

Alright, enough work for me; have a great weekend everyone! I'll try to check in tomorrow but a busy weekend may keep me at bay.

i've thought about maybe one day starting a blog, but i decided that i would wait until after starting med school, and then see if i have enough to talk about (and that it's all worth reading ).

i also dont want to worry about grammar and sentence structure and all that...

Not bad Myuu, not bad. Chun-Li indeed. Can you do the Spinning Bird Kick? Be ready to use it on Swarley if he gets a little too aggressive with you. :meanie:

That takes way too many buttons. :d I did have a face-level front kick at some point... I'm pretty sure I still have a face-level front kick...

 Sometimes I have the urge to ask where y'all get these crazy pictures, but self-control seems to win.

And what a pity that is!

This latest one was from here.

I'm not really understanding why twitter is suddenly so popular. I've been using it for years. Where have the rest of you been??
That is bizarre, I didn't realize it wasn't new. I guess the whole integration with facebook status thing probably helped with the obsession.

I invented a new drink tonight... anyone have any ideas for naming it?

1 oz Grey Goose Vodka
1 oz DeKueyper Peachtree Schnapps
2 dashes Grenadine
1 oz Sweet & Sour
1 oz Cranberry Juice
1 oz Orange Juice
Pour over ice and shake 30 seconds, then pour into a martini glass

Funky, stop posting your picture on SDN. It's not safe. You'll get stalkers.

That's what you're for, RR. 😉

You are right... I am apparently pissing off some people, and have already pissed off quite a few... but that is one of my good pics...

Btw, !@#$ research... I'm trying to wrap my synthetic organic up, and so I've been coming into the lab for hours every day. Ran a multi-step reaction and worked it up yesterday, was in the lab from 11 till 8. Come in today to analyze the fractions, and my !@#$ing column degraded my !@#$ing product into stuff that I can't even come close to recognizing. The NMRs look nasty as hell.

The worst part is that before the column, an NMR showed a perfect product, with the imine proton shifted downfield just like it was supposted to be.

This is why friends don't let friends become chem majors.

Good night everyone!

Oh, I love my chem major.

I should have never majored in bio!

Could have had a 4.0! (well, a 3.95.. did screw up in one GE class freshman year)
If I could do it over again I'd get a chem major/bio minor, maybe with another minor in history. I do enjoy history...

I'd also probably do a lot more research... I still say thats the only reason I didn't get the dean's medal 😉

If I could do things over again I probably would have went to Harvard and done concentrations in public policy/history and went to the same postbac I did.

Who are you again? :meanie:

Where'd you go for undergrad, then? But yeah, doing a softer non-science major (I would have done history myself) and then doing a post-bac later on would be pretty optimal. Too bad its kind of hard to think long-term like that... that's like a 7 year plan. That being said, biomedical engineering is still pretty awesome and I'm glad I went with that in undergrad. I think I'll still want to do something related to medical devices at some point.

I went to MIT... and was a chem-e major. Honestly that's probably one of the most valuable degrees you can have, but I've just never really used it haha

I was just a lot more interested in public policy/finance/economics (which is why I worked in that field, banking/consulting) and why I have a masters in it (from the same school you did PB at) I collect degrees though.

I've always thought of the value of the engineering education is in teaching one how to think analytically and then actually "doing it". So maybe in some ways you are using what you've learned as a ChemE.. you just don't really think about it 😉

Sounds like you're pretty much a professional student, haha. What's next after the MD?

true, but I still think I would have had more fun majoring in something more interesting to me!

I'm a non-linear thinker, so I guess engineering helps me think in a more logical manner...
