Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hate it when people (my classmates/ "friends") sit around and dissect the hell out of an exam that we just took until the grades are released. It is always stressful and depressing. I physically separated myself from them today and it was quite liberating/relaxing. Actually kind of a pleasant fall morning 🙂.

I'll be thinking of most if not all of you while we are busting our butts this weekend. Keep chugging everyone!

You've never met anyone that spends the time after the test scrutinizing every question/answer?

it usually goes something like this: "Oh, number 3 asked what transports the acyl chain during fatty acid synthesis. I put the condensing subunit... but in E. coli A ACP does it! and now that I think about it ACP carries the activating Manoyl group in humans! was it A, was it B, i changed my anwswer from C, did I mess up... aaaaaaaghhhhh:boom:."
and then they move on to the next question and do it all over again.
😳😳 Ok this is my ONLY neurotic pre-med/med student thing I do. Promise. And I only limit it to the other crazies-never the ones who hate it. 😳

And DoktorB-love the fascia story, LOL. My favorite part of going to a DO school now is how normal it is to look up on a Tuesday afternoon and see half of your classmate lying prone on long tables with the other half trying to finding a tender point on their piriformis muscle-aka feeling on their butts.

the only person I'm flirting with is YOU, dummy
Lyss=you might have to hop over to the coast and take care of rice. he's spamming my fb wall about you and lollipops  Hope you're liking Cornell 🙂

uh I know. He's just hating cause I won't drop it low for him. NO MEANS NO RICE!!!!

miss u Raaska!!!

Brain... exploding...with...knowledge...
LOL, know the feeling....a weird moment is not remembering you remembered something. I get quizzed and I usually answer with a question mark kind of tone at the end and it turns out right. Just "sounded" right in my head. :sigh: We are in our 4th week of anatomy and I think I might have my innervation/blood supply dreams again 🙁

Im skipping class all week to study for our first anatomy exam on friday. Should be a doozie 😱.

Everyone surviving?

Hanging in there 🙂

I've eaten so much today...

Word, I need to go back to the gym to work off all the junk food I ate this weekend.

 That was great.

I am slowly getting better at this whole studying thing. I'm still undecided on note-taking though. I think the only classes I actually ever used my notes in tended to be classes with a decent math component that had lots of equations and lots of blackboard writing. It seems weird taking notes in say, histology, or anatomy.

Is anyone else reaching the point where you think "what the f--- did I get myself into"? I'm there right now, but I also have my first exam of medical school (thoracic/abdominal anatomy; embryology) on Monday 9/28... Just hoping to pass (P/F 1st year) :xf:

Yeah, I've been feeling that. For me it's mostly percipitated by this crappy healthcare reform plan. Once we get a clear view of what's going down I think I'll feel better (or at least know if I'll need to execute my GTFO plan).

Good luck on the test man.

shhhh maybe if you ignore it, it will go away.... like a stray dog or a bear

keep in mind that I am the last child out of the nest...so I am very good at nagging.

But based on the stories you tell me about your sister I am sure I could be much better 😀

Just had my first one today...

For me it's more-"No, it's impossible to actually learn this much in so little time-these people must be insane if they think I can do this" But so far I have been hitting the averages on my tests (~83)....and that's ME, so you're going to be fine! And once this test is over, try and go out and do a fun volunteer/clinical thing...helps put things back into perspective 🙂

Do you guys allways have a test each week?

yeah....3 weeks in a row usually...👎...then a break (from tests at least) for two...and then the cycle repeats

unfortunately we still have presentations to give and papers to write as well 😡

so I am pretty much jam packed until thanksgiving 👎 😡

I didn't go get falling-down-drunk after this test... my parents would be proud of me.

I am disappointed in you though, Yoda 😛

I plan to get pretty drunk tomorrow night after our block exam 😀😀

Not yet, but we'll see after the next block 🙂

Yeah, I have a meeting with my mentor this week, so we'll see if I can find some time to do research and whatnot.

Of course this has pushed my already messed up internal clock over the edge. Which is why I'm at my computer at 4am.

holy cow yoda

I'm glad they stacked on 8 hrs of biochem lectures in 3 days right before our fat anatomy exam. Like anyone is going to study it or go to class this week. Pshh. 🙄

ahhhhhhh....I over😴 (past tense) and now I am missing cell bio....

crrrrrrrrap

cya

I miss Thorax Abdomen Pelvis and Perineum. I have 2 weeks for learning everything in the back/limbs. /i need to sleep, but I have clinicals erday until 5.

Med school is making me jaded about seeing my old classmates bitch on the facebook feed about having nothing to do or waking up for a 9 am class.

They don't know any better. Be happy for them.👍

Med school has taken me away from you fine fine folks.

So sad.

Happy news tonight: My aunt and uncle are awaiting the call that the last paper has been signed and they officially become custodial parents of 6!!!

😛arty: :soexcited:

Medical school has devoured my soul.

Congrats OMBD for your aunt and uncle.

Good luck to everyone on their exams.

Time to study some more.🙁

I wake up at like noon usually, no anatomy lab until 1 or 2 PM.

if you guys don't have mandatory classes, why not skip and watch video or listen to audio?

Congrats to your aunt and uncle OMBD😀

Akasha: I am in the process of determining which classes I am definitely not going to attend...right now most likely immuno (it's so freakin pointless to sit and listen to this guy ramble...at the end of lecture everyone is clueless) and Biochem in health and disease.

Anyways...I have a really long night ahead of me

sigh...till 4am 😡😡😡

Happy studies everyone!

Ha. From UMich website:

A two year old child will not go to take her nap. Her mother tightly holds her left hand as she leads her to the bedroom. Refusing to go further, the child suddenly attempts to jerk away and then sits down screaming and holding her left elbow. In a attempt to calm her down her mother offers her a cookie, but she cannot suppinate her left hand to receive it. Which joint was dislocated?

😆
