2. i think if "they" want you to avoid it, it's probably in the context of you divulging your secret alcohol addiction or telling stories about how effed up you got last weekend. not making harmless jokes. RELAX.

Seriously, I don't think there's any topic you absolutely can't talk about under any circumstances if you approach it the right way, and you really didn't talk about it. You made a joke. Jokes are good 🙂

no worries guys...you and the cookies I ate a little earlier convinced me that there could be a lot worse things than acknowledging that 21 year olds drink.
I was just upset because I just would really hate being rejected from a school that I really love (and have for the past 4 years) because of something dumb like that.

P.S. were on page 1028 you guys....we are FAST!

Ok well here is the story of my epic failure(as written to the ever so wise ksmi):
Ok so I should preface this by saying that I like to over analyze....a lot, and then do it some more-so it might be just an instance of that, but:

so a big no-no for interviews is mentioning alcohol, for some reason that just completely left my head this morning in group interview when the interviewer asked me about my brother, specifically how old he is.
I said: He is a year and 4 months younger than me, in fact his 21st birthday is this Friday (all three smiled widely and chuckled)
I, being the idiot that I am forgot that these are interviewers I am talking to and thought they were probably chuckling at the same thing I would chuckle at....the debauchery that usually takes place on such a birthday....so I clarified "but he does not like to drink, so no wisdom need be imparted in this case" They all laughed raucously, which I think is the reason it didn't register with me that I just did a no-no.
The rest of the interview went well.
During the tour, the subject of my answer came up (our tourguide was one of the interviewers) and she was like "I thought it was hilarious cause you don't usually hear answers like that"
I thought to my-self: you are effed.
But yea. I guess I wont find out for sure until I either get accepted or rejected but that was sooooooooooo dumb. You don't have to say that it isn't that bad, I think I just needed to tell someone because I didn't have the heart to tell it to my mama. ( she is really rooting for emory :\)

and freaking out I guess.
Now that I think of it...I friggin told Tulane that I am a cat thief and they accepted me. I hate it when I get worked up like that for nothing.

Ouch! I've done that before! I would say clean the earring, clean your ear, and put the earring (if it's a stud) back in.

i would guess some sort of gender discrimination, like what i told you earlier about how they like to see if girls can handle it or something. i've heard of it happening a few times and unless it's at wake, it always happens to a female applicant

well that is jerky of them. I may be short and smiley but it takes skill to make your 6 foot tall brother fear you for 20 years...and I haz it!

No I am going legit for my next cat----and may I say that I am excited beyond all reasonable proportion! I want a little kitten that goes *rawr* 😀

I'm having an issue. So my two roommates who are some of my closest friends have decided that they are gonna smoke weed with our other friend after finals are over. I told them that I would not be partaking in this, and since then they've been all like weird towards me. Like half thinking that I'm judging them, which I'm not, and half leaving me out since I don't ever want to do things with them. It's kinda upsetting.

Yea, i remember my usf interview, i had two of the nicest people ever, and everybody else say their interviews are great. However, there were only two girls there that day, and both got grilled in their interviews. In one, the interviewer started it off with "So I see you volunteered at Haiti, I don't think it's a very meaningful experience..."

I did something kinda stupid at my OSU interview too. At the end of my interview with the student, he asked me if I wanted to ask him any questions. I was browsing through the match list earlier so I figured I'd ask him a quick question about that(it was something like "what does preliminary mean?") Turns out he didn't quite know it either, so he was like "well, this question doesn't really pertain to OSU, but if you don't feel like googling it, i'll google it for you and send it to you."

Go to the doc. I had a sinus infection and they gave me antibiotics. Still took like a week to go away completely, but I guess the antibiotics helped a little.

i say toke with them. if that's not an option, i don't think it's a big deal. i mean, you can hang out with ppl who don't drink, right? do they smoke often? if they don't, then their "weirdness" is probably just them being paranoid noobs right now

Well that sucks. Do you ever want to do stuff with them? I'd just be like-I am joining you on such and such adventure. I think at this point trying to explain in words that you don't give an eff about their personal choices about weed is going to fall on deaf ears. Thats why I think actually actively joining them in a non-weed facilitated (but still fun) activity is the best way to show that you are up for fun just not that kind.

Wow that is pretty interesting, I got nothing but niceness along my entire trail...even a hint of how to get back at an interviewer that is unnecessarily pushy towards me lol
I don't know why I made such a big hoopla about the alcohol on 21st joke-best excuse I can give myself is that interviews usually leave me very emotionally drained and it is easiy to find an excuse to think you did badly you know

Seriously. I hope it's a one-time deal with your roommates, cuz that can get really awkward really fast. Even if you're not actively judging them, they take it as such--because what they really want is to see as many other people doing it with them to reassure them that it's really OK.

At least that's been my experience. Sorry, I'm probably reading way too much of my own story into your situation.

Its their problem, you shouldn't be expected to do stuff like that that you don't want to do. Still a bummer though, sounds similar to some stuff I went through with roomies in college. Sometimes you just end up moving in different directions than your friends 🙁


Are you guys psyched to start in the fall or what? Its tough times but the stuff you get to learn is all its cracked up to be 🙂. I love what I'm learning!!

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Things aren't as cool as they were last year with the addition of the new user, but whatever. We still hang out every once in a while, but it's different. I feel like they're judging me for "judging" them - but I'm not. It's okay, only until May.

I did very badly on the last exam. and not like tatastrophy/sdn badly but like a regular non crazy person would freak the eff out. it really came down to me just not having the time to teach myself all the things i missed.
so i am just digging myself out of a hole because an acceptance is contingent....

🙁That sucks. I have some people who have been weird with me since I quit teh drugs. Some people are just goofy with that stuff.
