The McNabb/Reid relationship just isn't healthy for Philly fans. One of them needs to go. Let's pretend for a second that Reid didn't just sign an extension, Kevin Kolb isn't waiting in the wings and Donovan McNabb isn't an Oakland Raider waiting to happen. And let's agree that my favorite idea to solve this conundrum -- a "Loser Leaves Town" wrestling match on a special taping of "Monday Night Raw" in Philly -- can't happen. Or that my other favorite idea -- a best-two-out-of three darts match at Playmakers, with the loser getting shot by Marvin Harrison -- also can't happen. How much fun would it be if Eagles owner Jeff Lurie just held a press conference and flipped a coin? Heads, McNabb; tails, Reid. Would that be the highest-rated press conference ever?

Holy hell I was chuckling like a madman in Baylor's silent study area place 😀

Yeah this was another big deal for me; I needed a big city. If some of my schools hadn't been in Texas, weather would have been a big part of the location equation as well. Cost was pretty far down the list, honestly; I'm already delaying so much of my "happiness" by doing this whole med school thing, I'm not going to also make myself live in a place I don't think I'm going to enjoy on the occasion that I do have time to do fun stuff. I turned down a full ride because I didn't want to live there.

Obviously, you guys all have stuff that's important to you, so if your criteria are way different, more power to you 🙂 I'm just saying what I was thinking when I made my decision.

thanks for the input 🙂

I really wanted to live in NYC.🙁
That MSSM rejection still really hurts.

don't lose hope for downstate! you never know!

I thought I really wanted to live in D.C., so I feel your pain. Just got rejected from Georgetown yesterday (after my interview, thank goodness), so now, there's really no chance of me going to medical school there.

🙁 well, i am sending good vibes to vandy for you. i miss your mdapps profile; i feel like i have no clue what you've been up to!

That's an interesting point. With all of the craziness around here, interviews and even acceptances/rejections get lost in the shuffle sometimes.

My mdapps hasn't changed in the last month, and probably won't change again until like April or something.

Haha, I haven't been up to much, really. You know, I told myself I would put that back up once I get into medical school. So... I'm still waiting to put it back up lol...

Okie dokie. Finally added my mdapps profile.

I just got around to taking mine down.

Ooooh, rankings - I would like to play! Mine are simple.

1 - Baylor
2 - Vanderbilt
3 - VCU
4 - LSU-NO

See, very easy. Out of the ones that are still hanging around and pointless to even consider I would go Emory, Wake, Loyola, Maryland, SLU.

So, VCU over LSU?

don't lose hope for downstate! you never know!

But DS is not in Manhattan. Dang it.

So, VCU over LSU?

As of now. I'll still be deciding this well into the spring.

I recently met up with one of my childhood friends and he is going to Tulane, so we could live together and stuff like that. We went through 3 different server shifts at the bar while catching up before leaving. And then the money is a glaring factor, obviously.

I would just need to leave for residency no matter what.

In med school, I going to go by my first and last name initials. D dub, weren't you going to do the same?

Why did you take yours down?

Eh, too specific and easy to find me. If you know who I am, though, a quick search through mdapps makes it reaaaally, really easy. I think I linked to my SDN username, though, so the whole thing is moot.

rankings!!

1. Vanderbilt
2. Case/Pitt/OSU
5. Cincinnati
6. Kentucky

blue you wanna be in brooklyn anyway (nohomo), you can then claim yourself to be a real newyorker, unlike the manhattanites

they are opening up a new upscale-ish pub with 75 craft beers from the country and europe soon! as well as bobby flays burger place. 👍

I was in Brooklyn, man it looked ghetto as hell.

I was in Manhattan, and I saw coolness everywhere.

depends on what part of each. brooklyn is for young people, but you have to wade through a lot of hipster trash in williamsburg

Oh I see....

I know right? I figured I would add that in there just for dramatic convincing.

I would never do that. That's probably one of the most disgusting habits on Earth. Plus, you lose your jaw and stuff.

Yeah, super duper gross. And horrible health consequences. In high school, a lot of my classmates dipped (during class) and all the coaches dipped. Those same coaches would dip in the classes they were teaching. And we were a "tobacco-free" campus.

waitlisted at Stanford.

fluck.

just gotta stay positive

ha. downstate is in a super ghetto part of brooklyn (not too far from where i used to live, actually). sinai is in a super nice part of manhattan. so i'll just say you got a less than unbiased view

thats def true, you cant really beat sinai's location

but at the same time, we are young and i have enjoyed living in the tough parts of cities. we can get away with it now, but once we have money/responsibilities/families to deal with, we won't have the opportunity to live in these unique places. its nice to be able to check it out for a few years of your life when you are independent and get an understanding for what some part of the population goes through. and if you can enjoy the ghettos of brooklyn, i'm sure living anywhere else becomes easy/more entertaining for the rest of your life. you also form a closer bond with the city!

not saying that there aren't rich spoiled hipsters in SoHo or tribeca

case in point: i was at a party in tribeca this past summer with some friends from NYU-tisch, and haley joel osment showed up wasted off his ass. never seen such attention whoring in my life.

i agree-- that's why i lived in flatbush.
BUT since i work with homeless and low-income people with mental illness... i spend most of my work day in that "ghetto" physical and mental space. maybe this takes something away from my activist-y, social justice-y personality, but i freaking LOVE leaving my office to go to a super swanky gym and then to my beautiful apartment on a street lined with beautiful brownstones. and i feel like i've bonded with the city just fine.

I feel so dumb when you people talk about New York neighborhood names.

I don't even know where the boroughs are and what they have. I know what their names are, but beyond that, nothing.

who hates drinking beer in cups?

me! i sometimes get too excited and get dribbles down my chin 'cause it's so wide.

:hello:

Draft in iced glass > bottle > draft in cup = can (depending on the beer) > can in cup > plastic > plastic in cup :barf:

perfect.

Spurs, you can still can a free bottle of Jack if I get in...

In fact, I think I will up the offer to a FREE HANDLE OF JACK.

if we both get in i'll throw down and upgrade to gentleman's jack

could have been worse, you still have a shot! be +
