Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Scaper, now we're going to have to get into it. I've had this Jack thing going with Spurs for a while.

Single Barrel Select.

:meanie:

Of course, if Spurs mixed it then it would totally ruin the one-upmanship.

yea that kid lived in my dorm room. he goes under a different facebook name, liked to party. matilda girl and gaga were antisocial from what i hear.

lol in your room? while you lived there?

or in your dorm?

tisch parties are so dramatic dude, they are pretty funny.

hahahaha punny.

i had a great time. swanky ass pad, half apartment half child psychiatrist office. lots of awesome toys and expensive booze.

As of now. I'll still be deciding this well into the spring.

I recently met up with one of my childhood friends and he is going to Tulane, so we could live together and stuff like that. We went through 3 different server shifts at the bar while catching up before leaving. And then the money is a glaring factor, obviously.

I would just need to leave for residency no matter what.

You know, the more I think about it, the less opposed I am to staying in state. I'll be honest, I'd miss LA. But I just don't know.

who hates drinking beer in cups?

Me!!! And in bottles, cans, draft, etc.

thats what she said

walked into that one.

So if you stayed, it would be Tulane, right? I'm assuming they will give a full scholarship since you've already received a half tuition.

DW, thanks for the neighborhoods. Some of those names are crazy!
Hell's Kitchen? There are so many easts, wests, norths, uppers, lowers, etc.

oh, please. it's all so much more fluid than maps make it out to be anyway; it's not like you're walking along and you think "oh, i'm definitely not in battery park city anymore-- this is the financial district" when you cross from one street to another. people refer to all sorts of stuff as "in tribeca" or "in grammercy" or whatever when it might be 2 blocks away from what any given map defines the neighborhood as.

sorry, but that's a subject that really grinds my gears. especially since someone tried to convince me recently that i live in manhattan valley because of the exact street my building is on. come the eff on. i live on the UWS, people know what i mean when i say UWS, so who cares.

What about the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select Club?

You buy your own barrel of the SBS and it arrives in your driveway on a JD pallet. I would think it somewhere in the tens of thousands to join. You also get your name on a plaque in a room in the Jack Daniel Distillery (I believe CostCo is the biggest customer).

🙁 sorry, jolt. chin up, i'm sure harvard's gonna holler at you in march.

I'm sorry to hear that Jolt, but there's still hope!

jolt, you'll get in like sync (n'sync, get it???) alright that was lame

 That was so lame I laughed.

Don't worry about it Jolt, you've already done awesome.

aww sorry about that🙁 does they're waitlist have a lot of movement?
thanks, guys. looks like the waitlist moves somewhat. 7 people from SDN last year that I can count in last year's thread. i'll be ok either way (just more ok one way than the other 👍)

how to not look like a tourist in new york, rule #457:

Houston Street (as in south of houston (soho), north of houston (noho)) is pronounced how-stan, not like the city.

i have to drive 300 miles to LA now.

see you guys laterz.

watch the 25th hour, you'll see the neighborhoods and the ethnic groups commonly associated with them. its a great ed norton/phillip seymour hoffman flick too

i hadn't ever heard of that before. wowzers.

to an extent I agree, but there are actual designations. it's fluid in terms of what people refer to in conversation, and people who are uptight about specific areas annoy me too. but the map you showed was a bit boxy. tribeca literally refers to a triangle, etc.

grew up in Corona, represent.

Elmhurst is where the Sinai rotation hospital is (and where my brother got admitted to when he was really little)

Flushing is where the Citibank stadium is now. Forest Hills is an affluent area (the owner of JetBlue lives there). Bayside is where the cast of entourage is from

Also, you can watch Yo Momma by MTV to learn more about the people of the NYC neighborhoods

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TriBeCa

the triangle is a very figurative triangle. at least, i hope so... because all these years i've been under the impression that a triangle can't have 5 sides 😛

love this movie Brooky! unfortunately I don't think that most people are deep enough to fully understand it.

I find it very interesting that many of these neighborhoods are the size of small town, yet their entirety and the entirety of 5 different boroughs all goes by the name one city. That's just odd.

Lol. I loved that show NYC Prep. You can totally tell that the lil Harvard gunner girl is gonna be a MD/PhD.

There are almost no old names for stadiums/ballparks anymore. Some of the few I can think about are Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Lambeau Field, the Superdome, etc.

They're all named for corporate sponsors now and the old landmarks have been destroyed and stuff. College football (and other sports) stadiums are very very very rarely named for corporate sponsors.

Heading out to go see the Lovely Bones and maybe go out with my high school friends tonight. Hopefully I don't spend too much money.

My fortune cookie from lunch just told me that I should see a movie this weekend to help me relax. And... I might just do that!

SO jealous!! I don't think I've seen 60's in like 4 months haha

It was 70 at the beach here the other day. 😀

Wait, so are you agreeing or disagreeing with him?

*sigh* Tomorrow (today, now) is going to be interesting...

Sorry. Clarification: I'm a Dubs fan, but Monta is not/should not be an all-star.

Well your sig makes it seem as if you have your heart set on something already. But regardless, congrats. My aunt is a plastic surgeon and on the adcom of AECOM (in some fashion, maybe just interviews). She raves about it.

I'm going nuts waiting to hear back from Stanford. Them and Harvard are really the only places for me that can go head to head with Mayo without $$$ involved. I should hear back any day now. I check my phone every 5 minutes. Arrrgggh.

Dude, you are absolutely killing this cycle.

front row tix to tonights sixers kings woooo. that boy JT representing my high school 🙂

gonna throw a beer at kevin martin (he's back) and fight him

👍

I feel so dumb when you people talk about New York neighborhood names.

I don't even know where the boroughs are and what they have. I know what their names are, but beyond that, nothing.

Same here.

My fortune cookies are always lame.

that's why you add "...in bed" to them

e.g.:
[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif] The first step to better times is to imagine them.....in bed
[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif] Be direct, usually one can accomplish more that way..... in bed
.
.[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif] Skill comes from diligence.... in bed.
[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif] If you continually give, you will continually have.... in bed
.
[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif].

That would totally make my lamest fortune cookie better:

"It's not what your fortune cookie can do for you, it's what you can do for your fortune cookie... in bed"

Yes, I actually had this fortune cookie.

waitlisted at Stanford.

fluck.

just gotta stay positive

Sorry buddy, but you still got Mayo.

haha yes. only i think i was joking.

😡

ha. downstate is in a super ghetto part of brooklyn (not too far from where i used to live, actually). sinai is in a super nice part of manhattan. so i'll just say you got a less than unbiased view

Shucks, I thought you was for real. That would have been cool.

I spent 6 hours changing a set of spark plugs and wires yesterday. Reasons being:
1. There were 2 per cylinder.
2. Some of them were under the intake manifold. :bang:

OK, rankings. This is hard.

Places I've been only:

1. UCSF
2. UCLA
3. OSU
4. Pitt
5. UCI
6. UVa
7. Wake

That includes cost as a factor also. If it didn't, UCI would be below UVa and above Wake.

Adding in places I was invited but didn't go (based on guessing, location, and cost).

1. UCSF
2. UCLA
3. OSU
4. CCLCM
6. Pitt
7. UVa
8. UCI
9. USC
10. Case
11. MCW
12. Wake
13. SLU

This list also includes cost as a factor.
