Seriously though, when will politicians realize that if you're going to cheat, A) you'll probably get caught, and B) getting caught will end your political career.

Well, if you handle the situation like Edwards did, then yes, it will end your political career.

Not necessarily so, Hoody. In my opinion, such affairs contribute to the overall perceived character of a particular politician. That type of behavior is outed and viewed very negatively because it is identified with the person's perspective on responsibility and integrity, both of which qualities overlap in the political sphere.

Yeah, it's almost a death sentence for anyone's political career.

    Elliot Spitzer, anyone?

I believe that Monica Lewinsky was the final blow (no pun intended) that sunk Al Gore in 2000. (Clinton had to distance himself entirely from that campaign).

Oh how different the last 10 years might have been...

So I know this is just being lazy, but can anyone fill me in on what's going on...or point me to a good link/news source? From the gist I get Edwards cheated and stuff, but what is this about how he's handling it that makes it a death sentence?

EDIT: Brooklyn, I LOVE your avatar. :D

I can respect that. I'm guessing most/more people agree with you, tho I agree with Brooky and Pedie.

I suppose I'm still a little bitter about Clinton getting impeached for lying about having sex while Bush was never impeached for lying about....well just about everything. :(

    Rejected from Wake Forest. :(

I was kind of holding out hope for an interview there. Whatever. As long as Baylor hasn't rejected me, I'm still hopeful.

Those of you who hate the Cowboys... you can probably consider yourselves pleased that the Cowboys' nondivision schedule is brutal next year:

@Colts, Texans, Packers, Vikings, and Cardinals
Home against Saints, Lions, Bears, Jags and Titans

Jeez. Seems even worse when you realize how hot the Texans and Titans were coming down the stretch this year. I think we're dogs in all 5 of those roadies, and the Saints and Titans will be tough at home too.

On the plus side, at least we signed Wade Phillips to a 3 year extension

If anything, the next important season that starts is COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!

That IS brutal. How many teams are coming off byes?

My Falcons played 4 (!) teams coming off byes this year.

That, along with injuries and Jason Elam's incompetence, is what kept them out of the playoffs.

LSU played 3 or 4 teams coming off byes this season, including Florida and Alabama.

Just sayin. And college football will be a bit of a down year for Texas, I think, so I'm less enthused about that.
They don't have the dates yet, just the teams. I'm gonna make sure I'm there when they visit Houston, though :)

    Could definitely happen.

That's seriously one of the most brutal schedules I've ever seen, especially considering we'll have 4 games against the Eagles and Giants, too. Only the Lions, Bears, and Redskins games will be gimmes.
