Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Definitely, but it's also really really easy to just completely underprepare and fail the test.

I didn't realize until this semester how much difference in work there is between a C and an A, and how little difference there is between a C and a D.

true statement. bombing is never a good thing but its easy to do when apathy sets in.

im about to fall sleep at work, we have a meditation room but a napping room would have been just perfect 🙄

no one will really know the difference of your altered state of consciousness, especially w/ your eyes closed. if they wake you up, tell them that you were 5 seconds away from nirvana and they ruined the opportunity.

EDIT: meant to quote onemcat, oops.

You have a meditation room at work?? That is amazing. I am so bored at work right now. And I have a headache.

i'm pretty sure the only difference between meditation and napping is the snoring

 Perhaps! Have ever tried meditating though? I've tried a couple times in yoga-type classes, and it is really hard to completely silence mind (without going to sleep, I suppose 😉).

 nicely put yourself, sir.

Mmmm... That sounds sooo delicious. Unfortunately, I can't have any food like that for the next two months. Bummer.

🙁 but at least that fateful day in 2 months when you do, it will taste like the best chocolate cake EVER.

yeah, i have. my parents were really into yoga when i was in middle school and dragged me along to a bunch of stuff ("it'll help with your soccer!")

i would always fall asleep during the meditation part. combo of warm room + lying down + soothing instructor voice = what else do you expect?

Nice! Goncrats!

yeah! bringin' it back!

Definitely. If only he had made it clear that it wasn't his PS, then all of the arguing would be non-existant, lol

i'm not sure how anyone thought that was a PS. the thought never even crossed my mind.

i actually got into a mstp (i think i will get into another one) a few weeks back (that i actually didn't even really tell anyone, i think)

i might reconsider now

woot! goncrats.

and YAY PEDIEEEEEEEEEE! :hardy:

they actually weren't too far off on that one. although, i doubt they quoted you scientific journals proving their point! haha. sports psychology is about visualization of goals and success but meditation is used as well. just for you blob.

EDIT: for a more scientific read.

I know! It will be a good day. I will have pasta and fried rice and chocolate frosting. All in one day. Mmmm....

good day, indeed!
don't forget the pepto-bismol. i dont know about you, but my tummy is sensitive if i haven't eaten a food group in a while.

i meditate about 5 times/week in the mornings. i like. 👍

loll i tried to look down pretending to concentrate on the things i should be reading and just close my eyes but i either dont fall sleep and if i do i dont wake up that easily 😀

yea we do! and reiki on mondays too 😉
i dont go there much except mondays cuz i cant really meditate 😏

 good thing i dont snore! if i knew how to meditate i would fall sleep faster at nites, this mind just wont shut up 😱

I am so impressed!! How long do you meditate during each sitting?

depends. if i'm doing a mindfulness meditation (do nothing; focus on your breath) i do 5-7 minutes. i subscribe to several guided meditation podcasts, though, and those range from 6 minutes to 20 minutes so when i do those it's longer.

a girl in my office today told me that she liked my hairstyle, its very 1980s. she meant it to be a complement. umm, hehee, thanks? i wasn't trying to look like a cast member of dirty dancing.

hm, that's interesting (also, in a testament to my dorkiness, I clicked on the "more scientific read" link first without even thinking about it). and I think it's safe to say that it's definitely not at all what my parents had in mind 😛

haha probably not.

i clicked it too! its reflexive at this point in my life. i even do it on news websites. if i'm reading a story this is a follow up to an earlier post, i will instantly check the bottom of the website for references to the initial story.

no way, if i blink too long in the morning might fall back to sleep

1. i'm a morning person
2. i do it after i've gotten up, peed, washed my face and brushed my teeth
3. in case you couldn't tell, i really like routines

I like your hairstyle too, reminds me of my grandma's!

just sayin', it coulda been worse 😛

Is there a physiological basis for being a morning person or night person? i'm more like a zombie person, i like sleeping at all times of the day.

 haha, thnx Dingy for the reality check! its funny when a younger generation pretends to know what the 1980s were like or have a very stereotyped view of it. leggings were awesome, though...

i'm a morning person. i can't walk straight past midnight and turn into a pumpkin after 2 am. i best start practicing now for all those last call night i guess.

u sound like me!! at night on the other hand its a totally different story :annoyed:

Oh yea, I get energized at night, but waking up is sooooooo hard. even when i'm not tired i still don't wanna get up

last call?

(unless, of course, bars and rotations use the same terminology)

:wow: :smack: 😆. i can't believe i wrote that. hooray for not proofing. that should go under my signature line.

eh, they're kind of related. i'm sure after a night on call you feel like you need a drink

and you just pass out afterwards

Dude, the Tigers comeback today was unreal. Gotta love the Royals' bullpen.

I'm still at an absolute shock that I will have to take out 250k+ in loans if I do a MD program

😱 That much?

I sort of feel guilty that I was only accepted at a private school just because I know I (and partially, my parents) will be paying much more than if I got into a state school.

😱 its so crazy. thats a bummer brooklyn.

i knew that is was expensive before applying but its only really hitting me now once i see the financial aid letters in black and white. schools are either expensive or really expensive. no cheap options. *sigh* my undergrad loans are pennies compared to med school debt.
