I would do that and just use my parent's, but in order to get in state tuition in Ohio you have to be completely financially independent.

huh that's interesting. i'll definitely be staying on my parents plan. woohoo for saving ~3k a year even if that is just a drop in the bucket haha.

yea, but i guess it wouldn't matter to bbl since you can't become a florida resident like that period.

that sounds sick, u sure that wasn't 1400 per person.

i think i'm including parking, which can easily be $200-$400 a month

yea they're poor foreign phd students, def not 1400 a person  they have no cars tho, so that's a pretty big diff.

I should have applied to Miami.

Looking back, actually, there's a ton of places I should have applied and a ton of places I shouldn't have. I should have applied all reaches + LSU.

I think I'm going to apply all reaches + Wayne State + OU. It all depends on that MCAT though. Who knows, maybe DO will be a reach if I screw that thing up.

one place i really want to live in for a year (maybe internship???) is san diego... or even like santa barbara

i heard those places are extremely hard to enjoy if you have a tough schedule + bills to pay because everyone else seems extremely happy in those areas

Santa Barbara seems like an awesome time.

I would love to do Ortho Spine fellowship at UCSD... :xf:

They have a great program and I wouldn't necessarily be there paying $$$$ forever. Plus, it would mean I was a kick-ass ortho spine surgeon. 👍

So beautiful. But those two areas are very different.

CRAP. Romero is pitching a no-hitter into the 7th against my Sox. 12Ks already. No one's been close. Now would be the time to turn on your MLB network if you have it, lol

Talk to me after the MCAT, since we seem to have some similar views as far as schools go.

What about MSU?

I've heard that MSU doesn't take a ton of undergrad MD students because they take a large portion of under privileged students and have a specific number of spots setup for non-trads. Plus MSU is pretty expensive even for instate and I would have to move to grand rapids, so it may be more cost effective for me to go out of state than to go to MSU.

But you are right, I'll probably end up applying there as well just due to the whole in-state preference in their acceptances.

same here. i should have taken out a lot of "safeties" i had no interest in going to and applied to more reaches-i wish i applied to all the manhattan schools, vandy, etc just to see what would happen. silly sdn scared me into thinking i wouldn't get in anywhere so i applied to mostly low-mid tier.

he's pretty good. t dot has a decent squad this year and drabek will be a beast in the future

but imagine if you had taken out two safety schools and they happen to be PSU and EVMS....

i would bet against the no-hitter though

do you think he will outlast CC's 7.2 innings of no hit ball?

I split mine between reaches and low-mid tier. I got some awesome interviews, so it definitely made me think what could have happened.

It just seems maybe some other top school would have taken a chance on me, and if I'm going to LSU-NO there wasn't much point for the whole thing. I just wasted my parents' money to travel around the country for a bit.

i barely managed to get accepted to like 3 schools so im fine with my application year. i had 0 shot at any of the top named schools. i'm glad i didnt apply to penn or my alma mater nyu or harvard or tufts or anything like that

however, i wish i had more time to consider the burden of debt this year though

Does that take a huge toll on your schoolwork? I'll be taking analytical and p-chem fall semester of my senior year and was wondering how traveling for interviews would interfere with that.

I can't wait to pack up the bags though. End up arriving in Cali or somewhere really far and realizing I forgot to bring my suit etc.

haha truth-i don't think those would have gotten the axe though. especially evms since i knew going to undergrad in the state would probably give me an advantage. mostly it was nymc, albany, buffalo, drexel. i also shouldnt have applied to maryland, i didn't realize they take like no oos'ers. that would have made enough room for some reaches. oh well no regrets, i'm totally happy with how things are ending up. i'm sure wherever i go will give me an awesome education🙂

I didn't for me, but I was taking some pretty easy classes and only had one class on both Monday and Friday. I set it up that way and it worked out awesome.

I can take a big toll if you don't do it right and you fall behind. But if you get in early, it doesn't matter.

No-hitter through 7. I figure if I post enough it'll get broken up.

I'm sure I'll be able to figure out when the time comes. I wonder what the profs will say when I'm like, "sorry I have to miss Thursday's exam cause I'm interviewing at Duke." (<- that'll be the day)

Estimated prof response, "Duke? Why would you go there, our med school is affiliated with Beaumont!!!"

I didn't know this, either. The numbers are deceiving, especially because the OOSers they take are from neighboring states.

My neighboring states suck, except for all the growth and opportunity in Texas.

The only time I would drop names is when it would buy me an extra day of missing class because the school was far away.

I managed to skip 3 days for my VCU interview.

I'm only dropping names when it's a great school. I've heard that Wayne State's interview process is less than 2 hours so I might get away with not missing class although traffic to and fro Detroit is always intense. That'll be interesting. I'm sure I'll be too nervous to study when I'm in the hotel room 16 hours before the interview, so I might actually fall behind a lot.

Once again, very glad that I have Halladay and Utley.

that bastard autodraft picked teixiera before i could get there in time 😡😡😡

and then ryan howard is pounding the ball, which, he usually does in the 2nd half of the season so he's like untradable
