Where are you going blobby?
i'm still waiting on some financial stuff to come in. apparently i didn't turn in a form even though they said i was all good to go when i asked them a week or two ago :bang:

but it does look unlikely that i'll be joining you at washu

It gets me really excited to think about what we'll be learning in the next 2 years too...

I'm at work and settled down now. I realize I only have 3 weeks left.... I should end on a good note 😎

course materials for 2nd year... about an equal amount for first year. Yeah, you'll learn a lot 😀

there will probably be times this summer where i'll be antsy or feel bad for not doing anything meaningful with my time. and then i'll think of this picture and feel OK.

hey taty,

i was gonna take a nap but I don't feel that tired and don't want to worsen my jet lag so I'm gonna go work out and use the sauna soon 🙂

You should have used UPS/certified delivery. 👍 Duke tried to pull that missing form shiz with me. But :nono:.

I need to pad my stats while dw and dingy aren't here since they so rudely blew by me into the top 10 of this thread

i don't think that would have helped. they got all of the forms i sent them, but apparently there was one that i didn't turn in. i just got some conflicting info from someone from the office who said "nope, it looks like you're good to go"

oh well, i'll still get the info in time to make my decision by may 15th. no worries

Turns out that my sister wants to go to grad school (who knew?). This means that the cost difference between HST and Duke will be only $20-30k over four years! Also my HMS loans are all subsidized, while Duke gave me a large chunk of unsubsidized.

I see. 🙁 I never got a WashU package, I was probably missing that form too

Yay!!! So a final decision has been made?

She wants to do grad school for psychology 😎 and yeah I think this means final decision made!

so your EFC gets cut in half even if your sibling is in a program that gets a stipend? (i'm assuming it's a psych phd and she would get one)

that's interesting

yeah! I asked the HMS financial aid office, and they said that as long as she is in school it counts. I guess I didn't explicitly ask HMS about if she got a stipend...but stipends are uncommon for masters programs, right? (I really don't think she's going for PhD)

oh, yeah. it makes sense if it's a masters. i assumed (incorrectly) that it was a phd

I don't feel like leaving the hotel and braving the cold tonight, guess I'll grab food in the restaurant, luckily I think it's a pretty good one!

that's an extremely random place to be

on the upside you dont' have to boil your water

My aunt and uncle live here. My grandparents live in Needham, and we had to explain to them the boiling water thing last night. Totally sucks! We lucked out over in the middle of nowhere.

how long are you there for

slash why are you here? has this been covered already

Decided just to order room service, I need to get down to bidness on this reading.

the phillies were just mean to the mets yesterday 🙁

My brother's school gives stipends to masters students if they're a GA. Not huge ones like PhDs though, I think he'll be getting $600/month + 50% of his credits payed for. Edit: he's not in a psych program, or even a science one so I don't know if it differs.

how is everyone's afternoon?
Just got back from a school event, now it's time to learn the cerebellum.

and I'm eating cereal for dinner!

stipends are uncommonly given for masters programs, but you can ask the PI. if he has money and he desperately needs someone, he can give some $

yeah. it's borderline unfair that he's on the phillies
