Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Me too. And they charge us like 2k for the laptop! If I'm paying 2k for a laptop I want the best damn thing out there - who pays 2k for a laptop anymore?

Looks to me like you're right.

That's pretty creepy.

You can always just sell whatever they give you.

You see the cavs tonight? I ain't even worried about the Magic. Lebron >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I would be.

I'll give someone $100 to pack the rest of my room for me.

Also, anyone know anything about moving companies? I've decided shipping all of my stuff is absurd so I think I'm going to hire movers.

Sounds expensive. How much stuff do you actually have?

hey guys, what's up.

👎 on getting money stolen, ksmi

You trying to get out of your redwings obligations?

Me???? Never!!!! 🙂 If I lose, then I guess I will have to create an avatar that is half red wings and half whatever other team. I have to admit, I never was really into sports until these SDN boards. It is fun to joke around and "bet" on stuff.

some of the threads that pop up regularly on pre-allo makes me want to punch their creators.

sorry to hear about the waitlist met 🙁 now would be a great time to send them another letter, though. hopefully it works out :xf:

I'm going to start on the letter either tonight or tomorrow. Should I try to send it ASAP (Monday) or closer to May 15th?

I think it's close enough to May 15th now that it really doesn't matter. Here's what I linked for stoney earlier, it has some great info under "Communicating with Schools":

I think I would try to make this a fantastic letter since it's likely to be your last one. Have lots of people read it over :luck:

I'd do it as soon as you can. But make it good!

Thanks.

I don't really have any updates, so should I even bother pretending that I do or just try to re-emphasize how much I fit with the school, that I will definitely go, and how my clinical experience has shown me that I want to be in medicine? Because that's kind of all the material I have left at this point. I feel like almost all my ammo is used up.

I think you should send a letter even though it won't be update-heavy, per se. Just let them know that you will definitely attend if you are admitted. Also, I would emphasize how you fit the school's mission and how the school's resources/opportunities fit you. Go for specifics and use anecdotes that illustrate how the mutual fit would be beneficial for both the school and for you.

Thanks.

If you don't have any updates, don't update them on anything. Better them think that you just didn't write it than that you didn't have anything to write.

ouch that sucks 🙁 was it another student?

I'd assume so. There were about 10 people there and I knew everyone. So that's what sucks even more.

Yeah it was cool.

haha thanks, though i twisted your arm a bit

I heard punching people's gods is considered pretty offensive, yo.

oh.. so much for courage wolf then..

Met - have you considered getting some Baylor affiliates to write emails on your behalf? It might be a long shot...but something similar worked for a good friend of mine at Penn (Penn pulled through with an interview invite for him for the very last day of interviews...and he was subsequently accepted). I know this kid had an email on his behalf from a Penn med student, so it doesn't need to be faculty for it to have weight (although faculty would undoubtedly be stronger).

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe I could talk to Spurs? I really want to email my faculty interviewer, but I don't remember who he was and since I don't remember his name I can't find him on the website. It just sucks that I didn't note that stuff down.

Do you have the interview day packet? Maybe his name is in there...In any case, the admissions committee has heard his perspective on you already, so it won't likely be a make-or-break thing to get him to email for you. If you know any practicing physicians that are/were affiliated with Baylor or with Texas Medical Center in *any* way, I'd get them to write for you.

I have the interview packet, and I'll look through it when I get back to my apartment.

And I don't know any doctors except for my old dermatologist that went to med school in New Orleans. 🙁

Yea, that sucks even more 🙁 At least you're going away soon, right? :luck:

Don't worry too much about it, last time I emailed an update to a faculty interviewer, he just forwarded it to the adcom. Getting Spurs to give you a rec letter would be hard too, since you don't really have that much contact IRL. I say just chill back for now, relax, and let things be. There just isn't too much you can do right now.
