Pretty laaaame! My apt was supposed to be ready this week, then my roommate(his dad's buying the condo) told me that it won't be available until next week 🙁 So I went and got a week at an extended stay hotel, and now he tells me that it might be done by Friday 🙁

So Stoney, LET'S GET THIS **** STARTED!! :soexcited:

(btw, i confirmed with them today that it's business casual, specifically button down shirt and slacks for me)

That stinks about your apartment. I can't believe that orientation begins for us tomorrow morning. 😱 It's so surreal but so exciting!!!

Thanks for confirming about the attire for tomorrow too. I have my outfit all picked out and everything. And yes, I know I am lame for that. 😀

I only have the HIPAA one left, that thing's a beast...the BBP one was pretty long too, and you need to take a quiz at the end, but the formaldehyde one was really easy and there's no quiz.
 
BTW, if you're feeling lazy, you don't even have to read the formaldehyde and the HIPPA ones, just sign the paper for HIPAA, and fill out your name/dob/etc. after clicking quit for the formaldehyde training :laugh:

Okay, so I just bought a new TV, and I have a question about a problem with it. The first day things worked fine, but then two days ago, something odd started happening. The picture goes completely black after a few minutes of being fine and doesn't return at all unless I turn off/on the TV. When this happens though, the sound continues to work just fine as the screen goes black. Now, here's the question. Is this a TV manufacturer problem? Or is this a cable problem? Any clue?
 
What's the model of your TV? What kind of cable are you using? If it's RCA then it's possible that the video cable(yellow one) is loose. Otherwise it's likely the TV or the cable box's problem.

A good way to test this is to put on a DVD or VHS tape. Make sure everything is connected correctly before you start though. If it still has the same problem then it's not the cable. Then it would narrow it down to the A/V wire or TV. Then try a different wire and if that doesn't work then yes, it's the TV.

Great idea! I hadn't even connected my DVD/VCR player yet, but that should definitely help. Thanks!
 
Alas, it must be the TV. Rats! I was hoping I wouldn't have to go back and exchange it.

Yea, I've had my fair share of TV problems. Usually it's either the wire isn't connected right or the wire's bad so that's usually a cheap fix. The good thing about the new hdtv's is that if they're bad then you usually figure it out in the first month so you're still covered within the standard 1 year warranty. That's why you don't ever buy extended warranty for a tv unless the tv is really expensive.

I think the next couple of days are going to be somewhat busy.

Tomorrow I will go home to clean out my room a little bit and then get a haircut (finally).

Friday I will go to school and pick up my ID early (purpose of said haircut). Also spend lots of time with my fiancee since she leaves for Central America for 2 weeks on Sunday morning.

I'm going to Dallas on Saturday until Tuesday afternoon. I was going to leave on Sunday morning, but then I realized I would only have Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday morning before I left. That's kind pointless to drive 8 hours for only 1 full day, right? That's why I'm leaving on Saturday.
 
med school is owning me and its week 2. it feels like its been at least 6 months lol...i knew there was a lot to know but damn its hard to judge. Also M1 seems like nothing more then undergrad classes with a splash of doctoring and anatomy added in. I can see why M1 is seen as the worst year or most uninteresting. yay for learning about myoglobin and protein folding and crap all over again.

it's already set up! my daddy helped me-mostly i just read him the directions and handed him the right pieces and he actually assembled it haha. i think we chose a good desk though🙂

My mom put together my desk (not nearly as complicated as yours) and desk chair while I was still moving in stuff 2 years ago. They've stayed together since. I put together my bed and coffee table. My coffee table took longer than I would have thought. It's nice and I like it.

That's what I've been telling myself for the past week. Still going to bed at 3 and 4 am...

I've tried to call the med school office many many times for a while just to confirm that all of my necessary paperwork is in and some questions about orientation next week, but busy signal EVERY time. 😡

I ordered a desk and bookcase from walmart since I had some walmart gift cards from my credit card reward program. Well, I was planning on officially being moved into NOLA later today, but I received an "Your item has shipped e-mail" last-night and I checked the tracking on it to see when it would arrive. Well, apparently, it's already there. So, I had gotten the shipped e-mail after it was delievered. So, now I'm just hoping no one steals it until I get there later today.

As an aside, gots my internets hooked up and for now I have free cable. so yay!

things are great, spent the last month traveling all around Ethiopia, flew out last night and now I'm in London Heathrow waiting for my flight back to NY.

Congrats to everyone who has started classes already! The reality of how soon I'm getting started is starting to sink in and getting excited but nervous.
