IMO, the One Power is the best rendition/explanation of magic in any book I've ever read. Maybe it's my mechanistic little pre-med brain, but I love that he breaks it down and explains what's going on every time channelers are casting various spells. Sorry, "Weaving." 🙄
The magic in Harry Potter was really pretty crude until she started getting into casting without speaking and casting without a wand in the later books.
Tolkien doesn't bother trying to explain magic in LotR, but I forgive him as one of the founding fathers of the fantasy genre. 😎
