Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
what aspects of your lives are you guys talking about for those secondary questions asking about where you see yourself in 10 years?

not really sure which parts of my life to focus on =/
I wrote about the type of area I plan to practice in (rural/underserved) some experiences in my life that have led me to such desire. i also wrote about what else i would like to do beyond just medicine (i.e being involved in certain programs and working with certain groups of individuals in the community). You could write about specialty, but unless its family practice, or something like working in rural med, i feel you might want to stay away from it. Like dont say I want to be a ortho surgery, or go into neurosurgery.

We're already halfway through July. Craziness. Pretty soon we'll be getting interview invites (hopefully) and such. I really hope that my interview dates coincide with other SDNers. That'd be cool.

Now, I'm hungry for lunch. What should I eat?

None of my secondaries have that question, but I'd talk about what specialty, having a family, etc. probably.

dont really wanna have a family....that a problem??

I wouldn't talk about it either way . . . because who knows what you'll want ten years down the road? You may want/not want kids now but change your mind . . . If I get that question i'm gonna stick to career goals only. besides it can be a sticky topic for women should it come up again in interview.

food. I enjoyed a delicious salad from Chopt today. followed by some not-quite-as-healthy Coconut M&MS and a Diet Dr. Pepper

Back when my avatar was a picture of me, I got a lot of comments hitting on me. Even got a phone number in one. There were some stalker-esque ones, too. I approved them all then because they are pretty funny, but now, not really appropriate.

I think there were some people that made inappropriate comments from when she put her pics up as her avatar

haha ya I wouldn't want them up there either!

Coconut M&Ms!!?!?!??!?!

yeah, the mini mart in my office building always has crazy M&Ms. They had cherry a while back -- those were FANTASTIC! I even went so far as to buy a 24-pack of them on eBAY (24 1.63oz bags, not 24 m&ms). The coconut ones are ok, but they give me a headache if I eat them too fast

EDIT: I paid ~$1/bag of cherry M&Ms via eBay after shipping. these guys are ripping folks off, but if you're really interested

my goal for Vegas (beyond being done w/ all outstanding secondaries before boarding the plane) is to find some cherry M&Ms at the M&M world store

Yes, I'm officially done with all the secondaries that I was sitting on.😀

I just found a typo in a secondary I already submitted. Blah. Oh wells, what can you do, now? It's so not that big of a deal either. Just an extra "my" in there. Not sure how it happened, or how I missed it, though.

Probably not a big deal. Typos always happen, don't worry about it.

I finally finished Rosalind Franklin's. I turned NYU's in within a day and this one took me 2 weeks. I just can't get motivated if I don't like the prompt which is why I still haven't done Brown and Georgetown.

Hey new person. :hello: Welcome to the coolest thread in existence.

its cooler when shes in denver for math conferences:meanie:

im applying just for the University track:

Required Autobiographical Essay:

(Required for all applicants)

The Admissions Committee is interested in gaining further insight into you as a person. Please describe the experience which you found most personally challenging to this point in your life and discuss how it helped shape you as a person. You may discuss a moral or ethical dilemma, situation of personal adversity or other life-event you believe to have been an important hurdle for you. Please limit your essay to 1 page (about 3,500 characters) and leave a blank line between paragraphs. If you cut and paste your essay from a word processing program, be sure to place your cursor at the end of the pasted text and click on the space bar. This assures that the program will save your text correctly.

Optional Scholarly Essay:
One of the four pillars of the Western Reserve2 Curriculum is Research and Scholarship. Although research is not a pre-requisite requirement for the University Program, if you have participated in research or another scholarly project please tell us about it. Describe your experience, including the question you pursued and how you approached it, your results and interpretation of the results, and most importantly, any thoughts about what this experience meant to you. Remember that research is broad-based and can include such projects as a senior capstone or a thesis and can include both medical and non-medically-related investigations. Please limit your response to 1 page (about 3,500 characters), and leave a blank line between paragraphs. If you cut and paste your essay from a word processing program, be sure to place your cursor at the end of the pasted text and click on the space bar. This assures that the program will save your text correctly.

Please note that your application will not be viewed unfavorably if you have not participated in scholarly work or research. If you cut and paste your essay from a word processing program, be sure to place your cursor at the end of the pasted text and click on the space bar. This assures that the program will save your text correctly.

whyd you decide not to do the secondary?? just curious

Well, I applied to too many schools in the primary, I was, uh, a little too eager at that point. Now, I'm running out of money and I'm getting tired, and so I decided to drop a few schools. Case seemed like a good one to drop.

damn i need to sign up for fall classes tomorrow and i can't decide to take an easier fall semester or spring semester.

easier fall semester means i get more time to prepare for interviews... easier spring means chillax time

Id drop case too if it wasnt free by fap...its just too tough to get in there and expensive. And the secondary is a pain...

I had a similar decision, I choose to make my fall easier, though this fall im graduating too. I think it will just be reallly nice to chill during the stress of interviews. 🙂. I took like 20 units last spring so i could only take 12 in the fall and have fun ! 🙂

I just want an acceptance by the middle of this next semester, from any school that I applied to, then everything will be bearable for me.

maybe i'll just replace one of my tech classes with a p/np humanities... that's a nice compromise

i just got an email from your school, acknowledgement, and their online applicant status check doesn't work!

Easy spring for me.

It's like all of a sudden they all came in...sitting on 6 right now 🙁

i'm working on ucsd tonight... hoping I can get it done in 1 night. i have no idea what to talk about in my childhood... and how formal/professional this should be. autobiographical statements are usually pretty revealing, but i'm guessing this should be a little more conservative...
