morning!! so glad im almost done with secondaries...gotta finish rush and univ toldeo this weekend, then im finally almost all done 🙂

I still need to do my U of Chicago one but its hard to work on when I;ve seen so many people rejected already and with such fast turn around

Is it sad that I dreamed about secondaries last night??

Nothing much besides working on these secondaries..... (some time in the next 30 mins... lol).

Hey Blue, how are you preparing for your interview? Anything specific that you're reading up on?

I've heard lots of things about the possible ethics and health questions that pop up and I wanted to maybe read more into that to make sure I have a good understanding of everything, but I have no idea of where to start. :uhno:

I'm not doing anything yet. It's still like month and a half away. I'm enjoying some down time since I 'm done with secondaries.

Good. So you should have time to watch HP6.

Whee. Day 4 of strep throat and my throat is finally opening up. I can swallow solid food without grimacing afterward. Calooh-callay.

I'm sorry to hear that but glad you're okay.

Michael Phelps! Glad you beat that loudmouth Cavic.👍

I'm around, but there's nothing really going on. I'm reading Complications by Atul Gawande.

Edit: And listening to a playlist of All Time Low, Anberlin, Boys Like Girls, and Search the City because apparently I'm a fifteen year old girl.

That's a pretty good one. I've been meaning to read Better, but haven't found the time to really read anything lately.

 Send some rain this way. It's hot out.
It just rained here - really hard for like 30 seconds. Maybe it's headed your way.
And I didn't get a Vandy letter today, and my mail already came. But that could be a good thing.

You should be getting some soon. Think it's supposed to hit BR around 5, but then again, you know weather forecasts. It might skip BR entirely.

Happened here too. Then it went away and about 40 minutes later it started pouring again, but this time with strong winds.

Rain never comes in my place.🙁

7th Millenium! I'm super excited I didn't miss it. 😀

So I can't find a new Post-It notes type program for my computer. I used to use Post-It notes Lite and I can't seem to find it. All I get are stupid regular Post-It notes that aren't what I want and are a free trial.
Any advice?
Edit: I finally found the one I had before.

Hmm, never used those programs, but you can try Yahoo! Widgets or the Google Desktop sidebar. They both have a post-it type of program you can add-on. That's all that I can think of...

Just get an iGoogle homepage or download Google Toolbar. Alternatively, if you're on Windows Vista, there are desktop gadgets that you can download (just search for Vista Sticky Note Gadget or something). Windows 7 comes with a program called Sticky Notes, so if you know where to steal that, that's an easy option.

I've been trying to find time to read more books on medicine, just because it's more interesting than reading the New York Times and whatnot.

If anyone has read Catch-22 and wants to read a book in an extremely similar style but focused on the first year of residency, you absolutely have to read The House of God by Samuel Shem. It's unabashedly cynical, but it's fantastically well-written and engaging.

That sounds really good. I didn't realize how much I like Catch-22 until after I finished it. If the book is written kind of like that and about residency, it would be really good.

Complication is good, Better, not so much.

Where is my mail? I mean if metallica didn't get the Vandy letter, then I probably won't, but yeah. Still hoping. :xf:
Yeah, that's why I gave you the heads up. But BR mail comes later on in the day, maybe that helps? I have no idea, and I hate the USPS when it comes to anything but small packages.

I'm always amazed when people with 4.0s and 40s are surprised about secondary/interview invites.

There's is a medium between being haughty and stuck-up and being unbelievably humble. You don't have to post, "Pff. Yeah. Of course I got an interview. I'm amazed they haven't accepted me yet, given that I'm God's gift to pre-medicine." However, I'm pretty sure you're the only person surprised by the fact that you got a letter from Vandy.

Whatever, I'm just being a tool by pissing on your parade and no one needs to do that. I just feel feel like Hell, and I'm in the middle of an exceedingly frustrating day. Sorry.

Do secondaries only start coming in after you are verified through AMCAS? I've only received three so far, but I am still not verified...

:wtf: AMCAS??

So, I just realized that AMCAS changed one of my classes without letting me know that they changed it with that little circle thing. I took ENVS 4101 (Environmental Chemistry) at my school and classified it as CHEM on AMCAS. AMCAS changed it to CHEM 4101. 😕 So now it doesn't match my transcript.

I only noticed now because I'm putting my biology, chemistry, physics, and english classes into my Vandy secondary. Now, I don't know what to call it. If I call it ENVS 4101, it won't match my AMCAS, and if I call in CHEM 4101, it won't match my transcript and that's not even a class at my school.

Sigh.
