I'm not done with secondaries yet. Still 3 more to do, but Vandy gives interview invites along with secondary invites, so that's what I'm working on as I type. For the others, I prewrote a lot of them. I've been stuck at home all summer with not much to do, so that was my way of being productive. I'm just weird though. Most people aren't complete yet at schools, no worries.

started writing them in may, so 2 months later when I got my 1st 2ndary, near all of them were at least in rough draft form, so it wasnt too hard to clean it up in a few days then send it off.

And i didnt get to see the ksmi pic 🙁🙁

I didn't prewrite a single one. I just worked on them five nights a week and shared a lot of essays between schools. It's all about time management.

Time management, or rather time in general.... That's one of those lovely things I tend to do without at the moment. I am doing 3 summer classes right now and I have a 3-year-old... Ok, I don't feel so bad now. 5 nights a week would just be impossible for me 🙂

And I am not really feeling like I am that far behind, it's just sort of hard to keep up with the nutters on this site 😛 Plus I just added like 7 schools a week or so ago and I am getting flooded with stuff now. I was just curious cause it seems like everyone had a 1 day turnaround or something!
 
Haha. I didn't mean that I spent my entire nights doing them. I've been working two jobs, among other things. If you can find even an hour a night to write or outline or even just brainstorm, essays get knocked out surprisingly quickly.

Or you can be like me and lay in bed going "I SHOULD WRITE ABOUT THIS! NO THIS! OR THAT!" and then look at the clock and realize it's 3AM :scared:

Well I don't have any interview invites, but I didn't write my secondaries out ahead of time and managed to get almost all of them sent out within 5 days. I also work full time and am a total lazy ass when I'm not working, so it's not impossible. It's not like all I did was write essays when I wasn't at work. My thing was to just sit down and write the essay out completely first, let it sit if you like it, then edit it a couple of times to polish it up. Once you get a couple of them done, you can find yourself recycling old essays and manipulating old responses to answer new prompts. It gets a lot easier after the first 3 or so.
 
Yeah, the thing that has helped me get the secondaries out is just writing something the night before I want to send it.

I just write what I'm really thinking and don't give a crap about what it's going to "sound like."

I usually end up with some pretty dramatic stuff that I want to slap myself the next morning for having written, but it's much easier to edit than just write. 👍

It has worked well so far. :xf:

That's why I always make sure of what I'm saying, especially when it comes to geographic/regional things. We have our views down here, and other people have their views in other places. It's one of those "no offense, but I think..." things. But then again, I like Texas so 😛.
 
oh i love texas. he just quoted me on an off day cause i had just realized that i had to independently send my scores to tmdsas otherwise they dont send your app to the schools. i had submitted my app june 30, and didnt figure out to send scores in till july 31. it would have just been nice to have seen a mention of this on the app site, or have them send reminder emails like AMCAS does with LORs. thats all. i would love an interview from a TX school, was just upset that i had wasted a month thats all

Hopefully Class of 2014! One interview so far, but I took a break on secondaries for the 7/31 MCAT...so I'm cranking out the rest now.

Amuse is not even the word...this may be one of the few sites that make me laugh out loud and run to find someone to share what I've just read.

Funny story...I actually thought the MCAT was uncharacteristically reasonable. I'm trying to keep from being really overly optimistic...but I felt pretty ok leaving the test. Now we'll see if I say the same in a month.
 
Amadelphous, where did you get an interview before even taking the MCAT?

Also, if this site makes you laugh, MSH would have you in fits.

I took the MCAT in Aug 2008 and got a 29. So I completed my primary early, did a few secondaries and took the MCAT again. Last Aug. was pretty early since I was always planning for this cycle and will be going straight in if I get accepted. I hadn't taken cell bio/genetics or anatomy last year, which came in handy big time on my test with lots of cell bio/genetics.

My interview is at U Pitt!!! 😀 So, while I'm almost positive my score went up...someone thought I was already good enough! Have hope everyone numbers are not everything.
 
Wow, Pitt is giving out a ton of interviews. We're going to have to blow the adcoms away if we want to have a chance.

Edit: According to the MSAR they typically give out over 1000 interview invites, which is more than all but like, fifteen other schools. I should've checked that when I got my invite -- I feel a lot less special.

Haha just because I had a 29 doesn't mean EVERYONE is getting an interview. I think the rest of my app counts for something. But I think applying early definitely has its merits.

I didn't mean it like that. If you look at the Pitt thread there's about 25 people there that got interviews as well. I edited my previous post to reflect that they just give out a ton (okay, half a ton) of interviews, whereas most schools give out closer to 600 or 700.

No worries Blue I'm sure you'll interview at places I won't. I think the struggle in this process is to not turn into pre-med cannibals.

No offense taken Aggro...on that note I agree they give out more than a lot of other schools. But they might accept more people too to even out the odds.

Blue you might get one just randomly a little later. My friend submitted almost the same time as I did and waited much longer...but her invite still came 🙂. Have faith!

If it doesn't come...that's why we apply to more than 1 school. Doesn't mean you're not a good applicant.

I really don't think that's what he was implying. I think he meant what he said. They give out a lot of interviews and he hasn't gotten one and he wants one. It wasn't a shot at you.
 
That mdapps is great until you get to "LeCOM Bradenton - Rejected" hahahah its funny because they accept everyone!
