Spanish 1102, it should be easy since I've never had a problem with Spanish. Tested out of the first one. It pisses me off that it's a Tues -> Fri class. Who does that crap? It's supposed to be Mon-Thurs if its 4 hrs!
Glad I didn't have to take 2 years, though.

Wow, those don't sound Spanish at all. All of my teachers came from either Central America or Spain. Sounds like you have non-native teachers. Never heard of them either. I'm sure they're fine though.

Cool. I'm just trying to make this semester a little easier. I want next semester to be very biology based - probably Biochem and Endocrinology. This one can just be whatever to help me out a bit.
If I only took Marine Micro, this would be my first semester ever with less than 7 hours of science.

Hope Monday is a charm for me like it was last week!
Unfortunately, I'm having carpet installed at my house tomorrow. I would have liked to be in Baton Rouge to unpack my stuff in my room, but we have no internet or cable yet - so I would die.
I guess I'm out, it's quite late.

easy A?! i dropped the only anthro class i ever signed up for after 2 classes. SO MUCH READING. holy cow. a lot of boring reading.

Awww I missed the True Blood convo!? Yesterday's episode was crazy awesome! I know I'm biased. 🙄

And yes, the accent and image of the south was kinda irksome at first, but I figure they usually play up stereotypes in movies/tv so I don't take it personally.

Plus, I've always loved vampire things. (Anne Rice, why did you stop writing!?)

Yeah.... Anthro was hella hard for me. There was so much reading and it was really hard to study for because my teacher only picked the most specific things to test you on, but we'd have a test that consisted of nearly 10 chapters with hundreds of small details.

I saw the behind the scenes sneak preview for that. Could someone enlighten me about Curb Your Enthusiasm? What kind of show is it? From the few things that I heard about it, it's seems like an improv comedy show... But it draws inspiration from popular culture?

Probably a better description than I could come up with. There's a lot of yelling and arguing. Like in every episode because I get the feeling that's just what Larry David likes to do. It's usually hilarious though.

I watch on HBO, but there are multiple websites where you can watch it online. Google "watch true blood online" and you'll find a bunch.

here's hoping for some good news today! I've only been complete at schools for a week, but that's not stopping me from getting all bent out of shape worrying about interviews! I keep wanting to add schools just in case...

curb starts on september 20th



curb is a great show. if you were a fan of seinfeld you HAVE to watch it. you can see where the ideas came from and stuff (basically i think geoge costanza = larry david, kinda)

its always sunny in philadelphia is a great show for seinfeld fans (but a bit more vulgar)

o, and on the topic of tv shows, i guess comedy central bought the rights to scrubs season 7
I dvr-ed it, and watched it over weekend, pretty terrible compard to 1st 6 seasons IMO

I'm just starting to realize that scheduling interviews is going to be really hard when you're taking classes. I'm contemplating dropping one to keep my Fridays free, but then, what if I have a school that doesn't give interviews on Friday?

Plus this class is one that I definitely need to complete my degree.

having the same issues...luckily i have no class tue or thurs...hoping i can do them all then. Thank god if i do bad next quarter it doesnt matter as its my last lol.
 
oh btw my night shift was really fun. the attending i was following was pratically prophetic. it went a little like this:

EMTs bring in woman with tasers in back.
EMTs - hey, want me to bring you some cool traumas tonight?
Attending: huh?
EMT - do you want a nice trauma tonight
Attending - yeah, sure. bring it on!

Literally two minutes later...
Radio call: ambulance arriving with man shot in face

There were additional prophecies as well. Haha.
 
i really would not worry about classes. prof are usually understanding, and you won't be the only one out. you also possibly cannot have more than 20 interviews and each of them are worth a lot more than a 1% (or whatever that missed class would be worth) of your grade. but thats just me, i have missed at least 90% of all my classes in undergrad since i learn better alone/have a different sleep schedule. yes, i have been asked if i was a visitor during a final and asked for ID since the prof did not know me. just enjoy your last year and the interview season as much as possible.

i expect no news for the entire day! i'm applying to some of the mstp programs you are (applying both md and dual degree, depending on the program). i really like iowa's program a lot!

Yeah, I was thinking that, but the Friday class I have is only once a week, so I'm already going to miss it two weeks in a row. I'm about to send and e-mail to the professor and see what she thinks.

he was quite lucky, actually. i mean, pretty messy - his jaw was completely shattered, but he's lucky he was alive since the bullet got caught just as it was entering his brain. about two more inches in the bullet's path and it would have gone through his brainstem.

still, i wouldn't want to be in that position.

I'm basically applying to the programs that either I have seen seminars of interesting research by, collaborate with, work for, are in small cities (so i can buy a criiiib).

i got past the initial reviews from UAB and MUSC's MSTP. Still haven't heard from Minnesota or UCD. Sent one to Wisconsin. Washington and UCSD (scripps is pretty dope) and i'll send one to Penn after I talk with some people (I work there)
 
once virtualevals makes your letters available to AMCAS, how long until AMCAS sees them? and the once you resubmit, how long till schools see the letters?

Yeah small cities would be great for me. I'm hoping mayo, Iowa, of michigan come through for me. For 8 years a nice small house would be fantastic 🙂

They are both supposed the day after the previous step. Schools don't always download them every morning though. AMCAS is supposed to. They didn't with me. I had to contact my advisor and get him to resubmit my letters in VE so that AMCAS would recognize them.
