Just got back from my UCI interview so excited for the chance to stay at home!! 🙂...hope it went well for u too JJ, i think the interviews were all so conversational its hard to gauge how well you did..at least mine were.

i hope you hear back some good news from them soon!🙂 ive found the same exact thing with the interviews ive had so far-its so hard to tell how you did because its kind of just how much they like you as a person. hopefully we're doing well though and just dont know it!

anyway, peeps, tell me if i'm crazy here. if you submit your app in july and are complete sometime in july or august, and a school starts offering interviews to people complete around the same time or after you, does that mean they've passed you over for good? or is there a chance they might come back to you in a few weeks or months? because i am so sick and tired of people asking about "silent rejections" in the school-specific threads in the month of freaking september.

Really, who knows? A lot of schools split up apps and give them to different reviewers. So the faster the reviewer the faster the interview. I'd still think they'd go back over them. I mean they do have interviews in like Feb. and the application deadlines are way earlier than that.

No, I don't think so. When they say "reconsider" or "review your file further", I think they actually mean it. How much they'll reconsider is up in the air, but I've gotten 2 invites from ambiguous stati after preliminary review.

I mean, I'm assuming some silent rejections even though it is September, but I'm not going to be all ZOMG!!!! THIS SCHOOL HATES ME AND HAS THE WORST PEOPLE EVER FOR NOT EVEN BOTHERING TO TALK TO ME!!!
 
One nice thing about it being a little further along in the process is that I don't check the school specific threads that often any more. Only about once every couple of days for the schools I'm interviewing at. It's nice to not have to check 16 threads multiple times a day, like over the summer.

Plus, like you said dw, some people are starting to get really panicky there.
 
Silent rejections are the ones I'm afraid of. I won't know a clear status until much letter.👎

will they let you know sooner than oct 15th? it seems like their whole schedule is ahead of the other schools so hopefully that's the case!

i feel that. i'm psyched about all the interviews i have (except the one i had today), actually, but i'm going to withdraw from at least 4 schools if i get in anywhere.

OK, I know I pretty much only know the way things are done at Baylor... but it wouldn't surprise me if other schools do it this way. The way they do it at Baylor (so I've heard, at least) is that they will score your app numerically and put you on a running list of all of the people who have been reviewed. Then whenever it's time to send out another batch of invites, they'll just pull the top X scores off the list and send out invites. So if you are reviewed and wind up, say, 53 on the grand list, and they decide to pull the top 50 names off... it doesn't mean you've been passed over forever, it just means they might get back to you one or two more cycles from now. So don't assume the silence means anything 🙂

Actually, the Texas schools didn't send anything out to in-staters until 11/14 last year, but they sent out MASS acceptances on that day.

thanks for that helpful info. too bad i didn't apply to baylor :laugh: but still, i assume some other schools do similar things. here's hoping! (although i am pretty damn satisfied at the moment and don't want to get greedy!)
 
I eon't be satisfied until I get that first acceptance. Will be super nervous until then.

Im probably going to withdraw from Drexel really soon so if anyone's waiting on that school for some reason, i hope you take my spot

dw as far as vermont goes, at least from what I gathered from the interview coordinator, they interview the people who they feel would fit into the program best, regardless of when they turn their application in. One of my fellow interviewees had her app turned in 2 weeks before her interview. You're just not going to win at every school.

With that said, you've got some great interview opportunities at some phenomenal schools. Breathe it in 🙂

Haha, I didn't post for two days once and just kinda lurked. I didn't think people would notice that I hadn't posted, but they did. I obviously post here too much.
 
I can not post for an extended period of time if I wanted to. But then I thought you guys would get too lonely without my awesome presence. So...
