Dude im meeting so many people (girls) at my interviews, this is awesome.
 
Congrats on HARVARD dw and Jolt. Sorry we didn't get to meet up dw. I wouldn't have made my flight if we had met. I took the wrong direction on a bus and wasted 45 min on that, so I ended up at the airport only 30 min before my flight took off. I was stressing :scared:, and it's hard to stress me out.

Back from Einstein. Good school in a good part of NYC. Great interview style. No BS, they just have you meet your interviewer and go to lunch with med students and then you do whatever else you feel like all day.

Vermont's admissions committee met today (IIRC). Supposedly they'll have status updates up tomorrow for people that interviewed early enough (maybe everyone so far). I bet there's no acceptances for OOSers though. They're big waitlisters. I'll let you know tomorrow if my status gets updated.

hey what do you guys think about the "tell me about yourself" situation.

do you guys talk about yourself in general and slowly lead into medicine, or do you go into it quick? do you talk about medicine at all with that question?
 
i just wanna express my utter amazement at both ksmi and blueelmo's continued presence on here. im pretty sure your current levels of involvement in this thread rival those of the summer. ridick

on a side note, i just had sex and received an interview invite immediately after...and i must say sex ftw 😉
 
So out of my 4 classes, I don't know what the hell is going on at all in 2 of them and don't really have any grades yet. I have both of those classes tomorrow.

That is why I hate Tuesdays and Thursdays.
 
well, the harvard thread has confirmed my biggest fear throughout this process. i do not want to be grilled about my research at interviews because i've been out of school for a couple of years now and would actually need to study to recall many of the scientific details. obviously i can talk about it intelligently on a slightly bigger-picture level (what i did and why, general results, etc.), which has been more than fine for all the interviews i've had so far. but it's starting to seem like i got invited to harvard because of my cell publication (with a HMS PI, no less), so now i've gotta re-read that paper, along with my senior thesis, combing for details. eff.
 
at hst they'd grill you about your research...from what i hear, np is more relaxed.

i think the posters in the harvard thread are probably just a tiny bit jealous 🙂 don't let them get to you!

hedo sucked.

losing lee was huge, cause you're basically saying "we need to win now." and i don't think dwight has reached his peak yet.
 
yea dwight def has not, but i think he can be an all time great

if i had to build my team around someone its def dwight (well lebron is up there too)

i feel like losing hedo made them lose their height and versatility in handling the ball. vince, who is a great athlete, just sits behind the line nowadays. but maybe he'll be different this year

NBA is great, there's absolutely no parity

we'll be better but I think it won't all be attributed to VC. I dont know if you know but we also picked up matt barnes and jason williams (Miami's PG from their championship season). barnes is nasty from the suns and i think he'll be a good 6th man and jason williams will help out jameer nelson off the bench too which is huge because we didnt have a great #2 PG last season.
Hopefully VC can keep the level of clutchness around that Hedo had, bc hedo was the last shot of the game guy. We've also got Rashard who can step up in a situation like that too. most people are upset about Lee leaving, but he really wasnt a Great player all season. He just kinda got going during playoffs and that was it. I think barnes will fill his void pretty well, along with ryan anderson (who looked really good in camp apparently).
Im sad about Alston leaving bc I liked him the best and he was fun to watch but now that Jameer is healthy again, hopefully we wont need him. I dont think they should have pulled Alston during the finals though so that Jameer could play bc it obviously didnt work out well.
Hopefully Stan Van Gundy does a better job of coaching this year, hes so stressful to watch lol

See, I think that Vince is an upgrade from Hedo. Losing Lee and Alson hurt, but like stayclassy said, adding back Jason Williams, Matt Barnes, and don't forget Ryan Anderson--not to mention a healthy Jameer Nelson, and maybe most importantly, a Dwight Howard with post moves (which he's supposedly been working on all offseason) and an improved Gortat--should cancel that out. For all the hubbub about Cleveland adding Shaq and Boston getting healthy, Orlando is actually still my pick out of the East.

dw as far as vermont goes, at least from what I gathered from the interview coordinator, they interview the people who they feel would fit into the program best, regardless of when they turn their application in. One of my fellow interviewees had her app turned in 2 weeks before her interview. You're just not going to win at every school.

With that said, you've got some great interview opportunities at some phenomenal schools. Breathe it in 🙂

i haven't gotten a secondary app from that school yet. should i be emailing them or something. i actually teach kids that are guaranteed to go to their md program. nice bunch

It's not like they're asking him to do much, just come in for 12 minutes a game to give Jameer a break. All he has to do is not screw things up; if Anthony Johnson could be his backup, surely Williams can too, right?

Let's just say I definitely think the Magic would be a good bet at those odds. That's a pretty huge diss for a team that made the Finals last year and unquestionably got BETTER. Of the longshots, I think the Mavs are mildly intriguing; if everything goes right with Marion playing with Kidd, I could see them being a LOT better than people are expecting (of course, I think it's more likely that they're just mediocre, but I could see them coming out of nowhere).

Yeah, FYI, I'm not sure whether the site I quoted has the "official" odds. It was just the first hit I got for "odds 2010 nba champion". Trying "vegas 2010 nba champion" gets me a bunch of sites that I can't access from school. But the site I used said those odds were current as of today.

BTW, if those odds are reliable, I'd say the Nuggets are highly overrated. I didn't think they were that good last year, and all they seemed to do was lose Kleiza and Jones.

Yeah, but you have to keep in mind that for a good 6, 7, 8 months I rarely posted. My post count per day is probably somewhere around 30-40 now.
