yeah clinical training is #1 for me and the fact that they take the Step earlier than any other schools to accommodate for more rotations is huge. Plus you can do your 4th year rotations in FL! meant to be.

BB, they e-mail you if you're accepted, and if you're waitlisted or rejected, its in the online status center

Well good luck. I'm sure you'll get good news.:luck:

Apparently they usually don't accept people on the 15th. They wait awhile. But maybe they will this year. That'd be cool.

Last year anyways I think the first day was 17th. Who knows why day it will be this year.

Btw, acceptances come via phone call, so if you get a call from an unknown number, PICK UP! 😀

oh i didnt know that! i guess i shouldnt start obsessively checking my status or anything and just hope that some nice emails come our way🙂 did they tell you which day of the week theyll let us know? i think i remember them saying the committee meets on the 30th but im not positive

Erm, I really don't know. They both have their strong points. I'm a pretty indecisive person, so yeah, if I end up with multiple acceptances, this should be interesting.

haha same here, every school ive visited seems like a great place and somewhere i could be really happy at. it would be great to have some decisions to make, but definitely really hard at the same time.

Don't worry, I'm still planning on calling all your other schools and withdrawing your applications. Doing you a favor by saving you from those kinds of hard decisions. I know, I'm so nice :meanie:

Is your cell phone the only phone you have access to in Houston? I think not.

Actually, it kinda is. Not sure where else I'd get one. Way too cheap to use a pay phone.

LurkerMom, back from my one (and likely only) interview. I love UMaryland and enjoyed the presentations, tour, etc, but my first interview didn't go that well. The hospital (where I used to volunteer, so I'm familiar with it) is ENORMOUS, and they gave me the guy's name and office number and sent me off. I went to three information desks, called twice, ended up hijacking a nurse who's worked there 15 years to walk around with me, and finally had to have the guy come MEET me, 30 minutes late, to take me to his office. It was so frustrating - being horribly late and flustered to my first interview when there was no reasonable way anyone could have found their way to the location. Anyway, mostly came here to vent I guess. Still hoping for the best. What's the consensus on thank you notes - snail mail or email best?

Either's fine, I believe. I would do email if they gave you a email address.

aw im sure he understands that his office is hard to find🙁 getting lost on the way to an interview is like my #1 fear. as far as thank you's, i emailed one because thats how they told us to do it and snail mailed the others because it seems a little more personal. if they didnt give you a preferred method, id say its completely up to you!🙂

No interview from mayo mstp for me. And it was my top choice but I guess not. 🙁 🙁 🙁

I told you will get rolling. Just trust me.🙂

Urg off to lab.👎

I just need to keep reminding myself that it doesn't matter when the Harvard, Yale, and Penn interview people, as long as they do. Though, I would be lying if I said I'm not jealous of the people who have invites there already. I'm super excited for you, though.

It's sad how this process makes us act sometimes. I mean I've got 10 interviews at awesome schools and I'm upset that I haven't heard from the 3 ivies I applied to. How totally lame and gunner-y of me. 🙁

hey, i totally get that. as hard as we may fight to stay calm, this process forces us to wig out from time to time. we may not want to care about certain things, but sometimes we just do. i'm frustrated that i haven't gotten JHU, penn, columbia, NYU, cornell, or tufts invites. and i don't even bother telling myself, "hey, it only takes one" or "i've gotten invited to other great schools" because i know the frustrated moments will pass, come back, and then pass again. i'm just trying to ride this crazy wave until next summer when everything is decided. you're not alone!

Not really gunner-y. Just dont be one of those annoying jealous types. Gotta worry about yourself though 🙂

More gunner-y than I normally am. I hate being jealous. Makes me feel like such a bad person. 🙁

I mean I'll never get to the point where I'm not happy for other people who get interviews or acceptances to awesome schools. And I'd never do anything to hurt someone else's chances, but still, I just feel bad.

... sounds human to me 🙂 I mean, I'm sure if someone told you at the start of this process that you'd have 10 interviews by mid-September, you'd have been thrilled... but now that you have those in your pocket, it's only natural to want more. Kind of like, "OK, climbed that mountain, now I hope I can climb that next one."

I think that's one of the benefits of going through this process with less-than-great stats. Every interview invite is an unexpected, pleasant surprise 😀.

This is pretty much the first time in my life where I've gone after it wholeheartedly while simultaneously having zero expectations of success.

Congrats on the Harvard interviews! I keep hoping I'll miraculously get one too, but I'm not holding my breath 🙂

EDIT: And KSMI et. al -- you're totally NOT being a gunner! With those stats I'd fully expect interviews as well. But look at it this way -- would you prefer to interview early and then stew for 3-4 months or would you prefer to sit on an acceptance come October 15th, sit back and enjoy senior year, then get an interview invite around December/January and then only have to wait a month or so?

I totally agree with you. I have absolutely sub-par stats so getting an interview to a school like vermont was an awesome feeling

Yeah, I know how you feel, ksmi. I keep telling myself I want more, but in reality, my assumed top choices have already given me invites. Honestly, I don't think I need any more (unless I don't get in anywhere) because after Vandy I thought that was enough for me. Getting invites at the places I got them at was amazing because I thought my MCAT eliminated most of my reaches from even talking to me.

As long as my schools are fairly quick getting to me around the 15th :xf:, I could just withdraw from most other places. The only schools I could see myself still reallly checking out after getting into one of the places I've been would be Emory or Pitt (and NYU as an excuse to go to New York for a weekend).

Congrats on Harvard, peeps. Maybe I should have applied there for s&g.
