damn, why such an early flight

all my flights have been on monday night at around 830-1030 PM since I work and then I teach until 630 (I dont teach tuesday, thats why i fly monday).

luckily most flights are an hour or two hours max from PHL.

I'm scheduled to arrive at JFK 3:00 PM EDT.

Depends on which part of LA, but around 3-5 hours. I drove in the night before, though.

Flying is safer than driving. You drive more than you fly, I assume? You're good.

The amount of people that die in traffic accidents is the equivalent of a full 737 crashing every day. And that doesn't happen.

Are any of you guys fluent in other languages? The French I know is very basic.

Chinese for me, speak a lil Spanish too. The goal is to first master the 3 most commonly spoken languages, then become the ruler of the world.

Seriously, there's a nomination process. It's kind of a "we find you, you don't find us" kind of thing. Basically, whenever we decide we need a new mod, we look for users who are helpful and active in the area that needs more staff and that doesn't have an extensive disciplinary history. It's kind of an inexact science.

btw, OSU was awesome. Everything about it was awesome. Even my host. We get into the car, he hooks up his iPod, and Muse comes on. Awesome. Their dedication to teaching, their millions of hospital ON CAMPUS(plus near the campus), their new 1 billion dollar medical center, their extremely friendly staff/faculty/deans/students...everything was awesome. After this visit, my list is clearing up:

1)OSU
2)Vandy
3)Case

Not sure about the rest, but based on what I know so far, that's the order. Man I need to get into OSU.

Not a problem at all. They have some INCREDIBLE staff. For example, they have this study community thing where ~12 students get together once a month to discuss studying stuff with a faculty as the leader. My host's group's faculty decided not to do it anymore, so an ex-dean came out of retirement essentially to take over.

Also, there are at least 3 hospitals ON CAMPUS, plus many more in the city, and the only school they sorta share the spots with is Toledo. So there are PLENTY of teaching resources. Also, one of the unique things about their new 1 billion dollar MC is that it has teaching space built into it(classrooms, etc.). They're really, really dedicated to teaching. Anything you wanna do, clinical or research, just find someone you wanna do it with and tell him/her you're a med student, and generally they'll let you participate. The class size is no problem at all.

I found that it actually isn't that much bigger than other places, anyway. It was kind of nice to have that many people, actually.

Oh, I'm back. I've had waaaaaay too much caffeine to just study until I go to sleep.

i'm not in school... and no one else i know has gotten this sick. but i always manage to get sick at the very beginning of october. this has happened to me for the last 3 years. strange.

My sister got swine flu! But she lives in Ohio and I live in Tennessee. Crazy times.
