i think the guy who got lucky was Bonds. he honestly shouldnt have even ****ed with roids, he could have hands down be a top 10 all time if he kept his 40/40s up and just let the other guys go down this hill
 
even with the hate of roids, baseball was dying before Mark and Sammy went off that season. It has obviously been covering up for a long time

Two things I hate more in professional sports are
1. the Tim Donaghy incident - what the **** happened to it? probably the worst thing that could happen to a league + organized crime involved
2. Ivy league/DIII academic schools not offering athletic scholarships, but giving merit based scholarships to athletes (somewhat under the table). just come out into the open and give out the money. Most of these athletes drop out, and since the school cant give out athletic scholarships, they cant take back those fake academic scholarships, basically losing a service and taking a scholarship away from the lay student
 
I am a huge fan of the NBA age limit rule though. I think its great for the NBA. Should stand as is. There's going to be SAT scandals all over. But I'm cool with it. It's just the SATs. I'm more into what the consumer of the professional entertainment service would get out of it - which is cost-free marketed young talent
 
I agree... Bonds was well on his way... then all of a sudden his head expands by 2 1/4 inches and he's hitting 73... ummm?

Now he's just coasting out of the conversation...

Who thinks its about time Pete Rose gets Hall consideration?

I mean, what do you want? It was pretty terrible, but there hasn't been any conclusive evidence linking any other refs to Donaghy, and at this point I think it's been talked to death.

Ahhh but it brings such a new dynamic to college bball tho, and that's where it's at! One hit wonders left and right... though there's so much talent now that the parody is still kinda there.

The NBA blows except for the playoffs, which are sweet (aka the players are trying for the first time all season).

This was my high school senior exit project... really fun. Read a lot of baseball books on guys in the HOF that have done terrible things... Juan Marichal beat the crap out of the opposing catcher while up to bat because he felt his throws back to the mound were "buzzing him"... among other fun ones I forget at the moment.

Anyways... he should be in the hall. Plain and simple. What man doesn't like to gamble?

I still find it interesting to watch the teams evolve over the course of a season. But yes, the season is too darn long.

The playoffs are really fascinating, though, seeing how coaches start making adjustments game to game. If you've got two good coaches out there, it really becomes a game of chess out there.

It's kind of weird to come back from a game and see all the LSU hate spewed upon these pages... only to return with a victory. [see last week]

Hopefully it's the same today. I expect a rowdy crowd and the result of 2007, minus all the 4th down conversions that shortened my life by about 5 yrs.

Yeah, I'm a UT fan, though I didn't go there. Went to a small liberal arts school w/o a DI (or even DII... we were DIII) team, so I stuck with UT, who I grew up being a fan of my whole childhood cuz of family connections 🙂

I know how that is, it's a weekly occurrence in my building. 🙄 In other news, it's snowing!!! This is the first real snow of the season and it always makes me grin like an idiot. I can't wait for ski season 🙂

American airline sucks! The plane got delayed for two freaking hours! But I'm home.
 
afternoon, y'all.

Interviewed at ECU yesterday. Seems like a pretty awesome place--huge trauma center with helos continuously zooming in and out. Here's hoping for a happy ending...

On the negative side, it took me from 7pm to 2am to make the 4.5 hour drive from DC to greenville, and the place I stayed legit didn't have hot water. So I was dead tired for the interview, while still wide awake 😛. Now I'm back in raleighworld working all weekend 🙄. How's everyone's weekend starting out?
 
Best of luck to you on ECU, hopefully you'll hear from them soon. As for the weekend, I'm at work. Lame.
