Yea, Vandy! Apparently, the interview doesn't really matter there. Two employees of the admissions office told me so on separate occasions. They just use it to see if you can communicate well and if you're a weirdo.

So since I couldn't find a host, I tried to find the cheapest hotel I could find. I ended up staying at this hotel that's about 3-4 miles away from campus. The front office and the actual rooms were separated, with the rooms circled by a fence. When I tried to get to the front office to check out this morning, the friggin thing was locked. I was like WTF? So I called the office, and they wouldn't unlock it until 8 a.m. Again, WTF? It was like a friggin prison.

When people write your songs for you, it's not that hard. They have them stored in a vault and give them to the people they think can make them work.

And dont' give me any crap about how "she writes her own music blah blah blah." 😛 Not many people (especially in the pop scene) do that anymore. Look to real bands for that.

I know. It's quite remarkable! Hasn't she broken the record for having the most #1 songs from a debut album?

Just got back home from trivia night. My team got dfl 🙁

And I feel good for Blount getting that TD... I think he's a good guy (or capable of being one)

The music business is fishy that way. Everyone "writes their own songs." Which is true to an extent, but it's mostly collaboration with mercenary professional songwriters that provide the foundations of the songs.

Another reason why I dislike the music business although music is one of my main passions in life.

Oh we feel crappy about losing, no question. But we were one of the worst rebounding teams in the league last year, and that was something we wanted to get better at in the offseason. I'd have rather gotten a win, and Boston is clearly a league above us right now, but there are definitely positives to take away from the L.

Except the only one I've really liked is Just Dance. The other ones are all weird/stupid, IMO; they're all catchy, but that just means I'm annoyed when they're stuck in my head. Haven't heard this new one, though.

I think she still writes some...I remember reading a lil while ago that she wrote Bad Romance while touring in 2008...I could be entirely too gullible of course in believing that.

Sucks if she stops writing entirely...a lot of pop songs that were made famous by other people are written by her.

Meachem will tear it up. Holmes has a tough matchup with the Oakland secondary but he's a monster himself.... good call on benching TO.

Oh yea, according to my shuttle guy, that place is or at least was full of hookers and crackheads.

But Vandy was great, amazing facilities. Too bad we couldn't get a tour of the anatomy lab, 'cause pics of it looks sweet. It's pretty nice that they have everything all in one place, the students seem really happy, and their board scores are amazing. I mean, 247? Seriously? That's just beyond ridiculous.
 
Yeah I think I've played TO enough this year and been burned by 1pt outings, so I was due to get a benching right

Yeah, Vandy is 😍. Only beaten by JHU to me. But if Vandy wanted to give me some monies, I'd happily spend the next 4 years there. 🙂

They're on the cheap side for a private school too. They're pretty generous with merit scholarships, so I think it's almost a given that you'll be offered essentially free tuition to go there. Think about it, an awesome school will probably PAY you 160k to go study there, good thought eh?

Unfortunately for me, tho, they seem to value GPA a lot and mine's pretty low by their standards. They also value the secondary essays a good deal and I'm not a very good writer, I was pretty burned out after writing a billion secondary essays by the time I received Vandy's beast too. I thought the interview went kinda "meh" too, so I'm a bit pessimistic about my chances there.
 
Then again, I am currently really excited about OSU right now.

But Vandy would be great. Sending that letter of intent just set the "reset" button for my neuroticism. I have hope again.

Don't toss your towel in yet...I didn't even get an interview invite....and I wouldn't say I am a terrible applicant per say...they must have seen something awesome in you 🙂
 
did u really think that vandy had good aid? i felt the opposite, they were really awkward about financial aid when i went

it must be that silly "$2000 scholarship for everybody!" thing. why not just make the tuition $2000 cheaper? cause they want to have 100% of students receiving financial aid.
 
Looks like pandemonium in Oregon. Glad to see we won't be watching USC vs OSU in the Rose Bowl.
 
dang, i just tried the sporcle name the countries thing for the first time, i only got 80 something lol.
