where is everyone tonight???
where is everyone tonight???
You have a good app and a decent list of schools. I'm sure you will do fine.so anyone think its gonna be a tough cycle? I'm hoping I can snag an interview or 2 at some of my reaches. It won't be long until some of the gunners start to show up and I feel like I'm wasting money applying![]()
yay for ur orgo test being done!! i dont know where everyone else is but i doing some dry thermodynamics problems from the 1001 series chem book =)
We are growing in numbers exponentially it seems!
Good morning everyone! I overslept and missed my first class today. Oops, not a good start to a very busy day.
Your stats look good. Apply early, and consider adding some safety schools.so anyone think its gonna be a tough cycle? I'm hoping I can snag an interview or 2 at some of my reaches. It won't be long until some of the gunners start to show up and I feel like I'm wasting money applying![]()
the only schools i am really considering for new york city will be downstate, nyu and sinai.thats what i should be doing!! sounds like ur having lots of fun lol!
so i was going through schools tonight..why are so many schools ill never be able to get into in NYC?? i really wanna stay in NY but they are making it very difficult!!!!

True. The list does include Albany and a few other low tier schools, but it wouldn't hurt adding a couple more safeties schools.Your stats look good. Apply early, and consider adding some safety schools.
true i am going to apply to everything i can, it only takes one.
ps i think it also depends on whether you prefer living really in new york vs being at NYMC or downstate, those are just way too far to really be part of new york life
True. Though they are only miles outside of NYC, you won't have time to straphang at NYC as much as you would like.true i am going to apply to everything i can, it only takes one.

Anyway, it is really hard to predict how things will turn out as there are so many variables schools consider. Who knows may be I will be welcoming you guys to Sinai (or another NYC medical school) a year from now.
Isn't it great that the drama is now over. Hearing about Favre's pseudo-retirement then his not so welcome return really upset me. I just don't understand why he did that to himself, green bay, or the jets.btw...im a hugeeeee jets fan..not that im super proud to admit that, but hey favre is retiring so we'll finally be moving on!
Thank you. Sinai is an awesome place and it is a really good fit for me. However I would not mind going to downstate either.in my most amazing dream!!! but ya never know! Sinai is prob my number 1...it just seems like a really great school in every aspect! congrats!!
true about downstate...the exposure you get there is like no other!!! It supposedly is helpful when trying to match!
yeh im applying to them all even tho its a waste of my dads moneyI guess ya never know right??

btw I don't mind the Jets, though I do hate the the Eagles, Cowboys, and Patriots.
i'm applying to all the NYC schools too. and praying that at least one loves me 😳
whoa, whoa. not that i like living in brooklyn, but downstate's proximity =/= NYMC's proximity to NYC. brooklyn is part of the subway system. and technically part of the city. you do feel farther away from the action in BK, but it is NOTHING like westchester!! (sidenote: never thought i'd be defending brooklyn, given how much i dislike it here, haha)
i live right near downstate and commute to manhattan every day. MUCH easier than my boss' commute from white plains. just sayin.

😕 Its not like we lost to a high underdog. We lost one of the most important players to the organization then saw the team decline. What was your excuse?hardcore Pats fan here...It is quite a shame they had to blow it big time last year. Well, at least the Giants' true colors came out this year during the playoffs![]()
Not necessarily. You can walk to many places depending on where in White you live. You're alright in my book 👍
Brooklyn vs. White Plains is no contest. It may not be Manhattan, but there's still the subway and everything is within walking distance. You need a car to get anywhere in Westchester.
Btw, I'm going to be starting at Downstate this year, so if you guys have any questions, feel free to PM me.
Best of luck!

what i meant to say about the NYMC comment was that most students live on campus there, making it more social than going to Downstate, where most students live in other parts of the city. I think I would like to be at NYMC just for that fact, since living in Brooklyn is more expensive and I will prob end up in the city as often as I would if i lived in Westchester.
that said, its true that DS is on the subway line, making it pretty easy to commute from other parts of the brook, or the city - both schools have pros/cons but i would not mind either one to be fair.
ps - if you really want NEW YORK, go to nyu. columbia/aecom are so far from any action whatosever. i like sinai's location by the park, and cornell is ivy so i am not going to really worry about that one lol.
gosh, 2014ers have yet so much to learnI wouldn't assume that getting into NYU is any easier than Cornell. Their averages are pretty much equivalent, according to the last MSAR.
👍 agreedNo one in 2014 got swagger like us...swagger swagger like us!!!!😎😎😎😎

To mess with you, duh 🙂
why are you guys here? 😎
To mess with you, duh 🙂
ah, i see.
thought i'm not gonna lie... a year from now when i'm (god willing!) holding an acceptance or two i think i'll have better things to do than hang out in the 2015 thread 😛
why are you guys here? 😎
You mean like working full time and being bored at my desk?
for the 2013ers and 2014ers that are in the thread, I have a question for you all. I am bit confused with how the LORs are sent to the various schools. Can you pick which letters go to which schools if you have an abundance of letters, or do you need to send the same letters to all schools. I know this sounds like a silly questions but I was just inquiring because some schools may value a rec. from work experience..vs..another school that may value more science heavy recs..I know 2 need to be from science..but I just wanted to get your opinions..Currently, I can think of about 13 people I want to get potential recs from, no I will not be sending 13 recs to any med schools..but I was thinking of using a different combination of recs based on the school..

i have a letter already on file from the premed commitee but i am not sure whether i should use it since its from 2 yrs back since I was orginally planning to matriculate 2008 but mcats through me off schedule. but premed committee only write you a letter and you have to take care of the rest urself.
sorry i didnt read my post before I read it so it was unclear..what i meant to say was even though we have a premed commitee we are responsible for collecting our own letters and sending them, our premed commitee only writes you one letter which u send with the others. does that make sense?
if you have 13 possible letter writers, just ask new ones. your prob better off showing recent evaluations even if they could possibly update the older letter.
new ones are better, and you seem to have a lot of options.
