Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. taking mcats in may!
2. personal statement- at draft 4, working on draft 5 today, having difficulty because each draft is completely different from the others and I still dont like them so far so will attempt again.
3. going tommorow to meet profs from college for recs..I have requested them..I just need to send them my cv and personal statement which will happen sometime today =)
4. other stuff- I had the most scary, crazy, weird dream last night, and i swear it could be made into a horror flick, i think the mcat is messing with my brain lol. =)

You've got plenty of time to perfect that personal statement, so keep staying on top of everything! 🙂

I can't believe it's still snowing places. But I don't really know how the snow usually works. Here, our weather is crazy as usual. 80 degrees on Friday, 30 on Saturday. Still in the 30/40's now.

wow..thats pretty drastic!! yeh we got A LOT of snow here..prob a foot by the end of the day. I might have to attempt a snowman today hehe. youre lucky ur bday is at the "lamb" end of march 😉
 
i would prefer not to go into details on my dream cuz it was sooo scary. =)
 
so here was my dream. it was in my segments and parts
1. My bf and i were heading somewhere but everyone we met on the way was trying to take him away to some other place..at one point when we met a group of people we knew we were both talking to different people..and suddenly he got this pain on his right arm and went into this parking garage type of thing..and then this car came head on towards us..then we decided to go to the other side where cars wouldnt be able to ram into us
2. the next thing i know, im walking in a building, looks like a school..i see bunch of people rushing downstairs, i ask them where my bf is and they say he is outside but when i look outside i dont find him there
3. in my dream, i wake up and suddenly im in bed but not my own bed..and its set up so that there two levels and my parents are sleeping downstairs, i hear my dad recollecting his own dream and its the same one as i had in my dream, so i go downstairs and tell my paretns about my dream( this is still in the dream) and my mom jsut shrugs it offf
4. i go upstairs and i have the fave 5 function on my cell phone and try to call my bf to see if he is ok, but i cant find him and i can see my relfection on the phone but it loosk like someone can see me and suddenly it dilas a number(not his) and some song about bumble bees starts playing and it sounds like one of those old fashioned songs
5. I am now lindsey lohan but when she was like 12( but in my dream i think its me) I keep on thinking that i cant hear my inner voice, then a nurse walks up to me and a little with her face down is holding the nurses hand. The nurse hands me a picture of (lindsey lohan's baby picture) but I think its my picture. Apparently someone stole my inner voice and the only way i can find it is if I am shown a picture of myself. and the nurse tells me that my dad is ill but the little girl tells me not to beleive her and to get out of there.
6.i see myself in the mirror except, my eyes look differnt, like they are swollen, or something but they just look different and it freaks me out even in my dream. I woke up this morning and the area around my eyes still hurt.
7. I wake up again in my dream( but i havent actually woken up) I see my mom in my room and I ask her why she is there and she is like why are you up so late. I see this repeated the three times. Every time I see her in my room and get confused because each time I remeber the past times she was there. except here is the freakest part, the last time i try to wake up, I cant because i feel someone holding me down tight and suffocating me with my blanket..and I swear to god I was sore this morning. It felt like someone was holding on tight to me, I felt it, and I woke up for real!

now tell me that isnt freaky..i really need to take this exam...because i cant sleep properly gosh!

Wow... I wish I had dreams half as vivid as yours! And the fact that you can remember all those details, sheesh. I've been out of school for 10 months now, but the only things I can dream about are going to class, going to lab, driving home, etc - basically, reliving a school day, but in my subconscious state. :laugh:
 
haha..those werent even all of teh details! i have very vivid dreams..i have had them since i was young..and usually around exam time they just get weird and freaky. like when i was taking ap exams in high school they were worse! i graduated 10 months ago too! =) i was working until i decided to leave and stduy for mcat full time in jan! =)

wow, 5th PS draft???

do most people end up writing numerous SEPARATE drafts? I mean, I'm revising my first draft right now, keeping the same content/ideas, maybe reorganizing the structure a bit and making large deletions, but I'm not completely rewriting it.. do most people do that?

The writing process is different for everyone, don't be too concerned about what others are doing. How many drafts you go through can really vary depending on how much brainstorming of ideas you did before hand, and whether you end of changing approaches/themes from version to version. Just make sure you have other individuals review your draft(s) for feedback, and if something isn't working for you (whether it's a paragraph or the whole statement) don't be afraid to chuck it and start over again.
 
not to worry about the many drafts.
1. my first 6 were def. different PS's because I did not like any of the other ones except my 6th draft
2. the reason im saving all my drafts because I dont want to delete something and think i may need it later
3. i think everyone has a different way of writing as mentioend above so i dont think it means anything to have multiple drafts!! I am meeting my lor writters tommorow and one of them is an asst. dean of a med school so Im just feeling super anxious abt showing my ps to him..thats why im being overly concerned..
4. do what works for you but yes get lots of ppl to read it! my sister was a comp. lit major and she tore mine apart but i love it! =)
 
sneaking this one in at the last minute... happy birthday to sandey, sandey's daughter, and aerobixchica!

MAJOR snow day here in NYC... it took me almost 1.5 hours to get to work (usually 35 minutes). then my office had no internet today. (nothing to do with the snow, just a freak and sucky coincidence.) not the best day :annoyed:

Congrats! I totally called it too on your MDapps! ****, i should have said "I hope you get a 45." I'm sorry I screwed you like that. 😉

I like it though. My new goal is to match your score. (don't worry, it isn't going to happen.) But I like how you have set the bar for us 2014ers. And trying to match it will make us work extra hard!

Anyway, I'm sure you know that as a next step, it's your SDN duty to write a long, long post in this thread.

Haha yeah. I just posted there. But for reals, ask me anything. I do better with more specific questions. I'm more than willing to help anyone with any MCAT stuff I can.

Of course I wouldn't really hate you, lol. You have clearly earned it. Besides, what I said on your MdApps is true- the higher your MCAT, the smaller the chances that you'll even be applying to any of the same schools as me. Which reminds me, I hope you'll be updating your school list soon to reflect this! You should be applying to Harvard. 'Cause I won't be. 😀

Haha... Harvard is very iffy for me for non-medical reasons. ALLLLLL of my mom's family lives in the Boston area, and they tend to get on my nerves sometimes. I don't think I could handle them without my mom or brother around to go through it with me and to be my escape. I love them and all, but I've just gotten used to being far away.

I updated a little but I'm so unsure about what I want in a school right now. I just need to sit down and figure it all out soon.

Thanks!!! 🙂 When I talked to my mom this morning, she asked if I was down from Cloud 9 yet. Idk if I was ever up there. I was super excited to see that score, but what the number means for me while I apply hasn't really hit me yet.

I feel so honored to have the 2013 kids being nice to a 2014er for once. hehe 😀
