No way, Molecular/Cell Biology majors are the real cool people.

Gosh, filling this AMCAS thing is taking a lot of time. I already had all my stuff written out beforehand, and it's still taking forever.

does that also go under work/activities?
 
somehow my AMCAS app says 2009. should it say 2010? i opened an account last year to see what the app looks like and never submit it. so how do i get it to say 2010 at the top?
 
I'm having a hard time coming up with 15 work/activities. I mean, it's not like I haven't done 15 things, it's just that I wouldn't consider most of it meaningful or something an ADCOM would be interested in. Must we fill out all 15, or can we leave some blank? And does this look bad?

u must be in the wrong app
log out completely
then go to
http://www.aamc.org/students/amcas/
and try to click on the login link on the top right side
hopefully that would work...??

and im still tryin to get some extra shadowing right now
so im just goin to write everything on down...
then group accordingly in a couple weeks

did u see that thread on tips for entering work/activities

No I heard it is not necessary at all to fill all 15 slots up. If you are short, don't worry about it. It's the quality that counts, not quantity.

:laugh: Of course you can leave some blank.

I would concentrate on what matters. Quantity is not the most important thing on your app. If you start adding too much fluff you are going to bury the main message, you.


On another note! I was in the shower and a unifying theme for my next PS revision just popped into my head!!! It's by far the best one yet. I'm pumped!!! This could be the one!!! :soexcited:

i have a question
for one of my employment
for summer 2006, 2007, 2008, and now also 2009... (mid-may to mid-sept)
i have worked in a family business...
i worked approx 40 hrs a week (more or less depending on what is needed)
however, it wasn't paid... since it was a family business... i really dont have pay stubs or anything to show for it... my uncle just helped out with my rent/tuition/etc in return...

i dont know how to list this in the AMCAS... i did spend ALOT of time on this job...
since it wasnt paid... i feel i shud leave it out... but then i don't want it to seem like
oh she sat idle in all her summers except for a couple summer classes...

i do have volunteering and shadowing experience
just not 5000 hours coz of this

what do u think i shud do?
 
i'd put it as either volunteering or "paid" work, and then explain the details on the situation in the description. they'll read it and figure it out.
 
this is random but...are there more guys than girls in this 2014 thread? i feel that guys are overshadowing girls in this thread. 😀

question about puerto rico med school..do they only take a few oos? and also the score requirements are lower for the PR med school, do these count as carribean schools? I am bit confused..

are u guys applyign to PR schools..

i would also say put it as paid and explain the situation..

It is a Caribbean school. Although it isn't geographically, because it lies between the Caribbean and the US it is still considered a Caribbean school.

So I just heard today from a buddy that my state school is starting to base ~75% of the weight on whether to accept an applicant or not based on the interview.

shiz kids...I am frustrated enough with finals & the like. With AMCAS this thread is taking off, and now I have >9 pages to catch up on.

Two more days. I think my system is all off from too much coffee and not enough giggly juice. Balance that mother out on Friday night.

Then worry about AMCAS hungover hunched over the computer the next morning. PERFECT SATURDAY! Not sure if I am more excited about getting into the AMCAS or the brews; that's when you know this pre-med thing has completely Fed your priorities.
