Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
my school doesn't even have a football team.

same but ive always found college football somewhat boring....I dont really like watching amateurs....I mean the difference in talent is so huge between a lot of teams (such as USC) that most of the games are jokes. I watch some of the better bcs games but thats all! I always thought college football was more of a southern midwest thing.

You know, when I first browsed through the AMCAS, it didn't seem all that intimidating. Seemed fairly straightforward.

And I guess it is, but now that I'm trying to finish it up, it's taken more time than I had thought to fill out everything and write up little blurbs about my activities/life.

When it comes time to click "submit," I'm going to be so darned nervous about having a mistake in there somewhere. Or having some competitive sabotaging pre-med sneak the word "penis" into my explanation of working with inner city kids.
This may make you more nervous, but it's true. I had a mistake on mine last year. AMCAS refused to fix it, and I had to embarrassingly email every school I applied to to make the correction.

Oh, on the football note. My school has sent a top ten draft pick 3 of the last 4 years. We didn't even go to a bowl this year. We always have some good individuals, but never get organized enough to get a good team together.

College football's pretty fun for me. I mean, sure they aren't as good as NFL teams, but they play for the love of the game (I guess they also play to get drafted), not for money. So it's pretty fun to watch that.

I like any sport better when it's played just below the professional level. It seems the players are still human. I understand why UT has such a fervent following for the Longhorns (big school, tons of alumni and family of alumni). Never quite understood why anyone gave a crap about the NFL.

In south Texas, you used to hear "HOW ABOUT THEM COWBOYS" a lot.

I never knew what to say :meanie:

I agree. Sure not all of them just play for the love of the game, but it's way more likely in college than the NFL.

Top.

Now THAT's what I'm talking about

I just got an interview to teach for TPR. Yay for trying to find summer jobs. Especially ones that pay $18/hour. 😀

I contacted them too but they aren't answering back.👎

👍 for you.

I just ate another glazed donut. Damn, this has got to stop.🙁

I read a story not to long ago where that actually happened to someone!!! Ha ha. Their friend thought it would be funny. It was a Master's presentation or thesis. I don't remember which. That's one for the funny pages... Unless it happens to you.

Why would you want to be somewhere where it is 93 degrees in mid-May??

Hope you feel better!

Hmmm, beautiful tanned southern women, next to no clothes, lots of booze, plenty of boating and water skiing...

...I don't know... I'm drawing a blank... 🙄

Thanks! Advil helps. 🙂

my grandmother just brought home 2 live pigeons today! 😱 someone gave them to her at the seniors club.

she was so excited to raise them and eat their younglings when they hatch. she and my dad raised them before in vietnam. i'm like WTF?!?!?😕 she said it's very nutritious in soups. right...

Ha ha. That's officially one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard.

You should teach the pigeons to play ping pong!!! Shaping for the win!!! Gotta love Skinner, the man was genius!

0C i saw your face on facebook. 😀

Uh oh...

So I wonder if his wrist playlog has all of the other teams plays on it too...

my school doesn't even have a football team.

Neither does mine... But we do have a huge rivalry between CU and CSU that's always fun, especially since CU usually wins. 🙂

What was the mistake?

I think that's only because you can see the disparity between the great players and the average players. It looks faster and more intense. In the NFL everyone is an allstar and the game speed seems slower because they're all playing at the same accelerated rate.

I just love it when fans jump on the field in the middle of a play and get crushed... Ha ha. What a bunch of idiots!

Wow! They are short changing you! Kaplan pays $20!!!

So I just finished my final a little bit ago and it required me to fill out an entire Blue Book... :wtf:

We use Blue Books at Cal too!

I think they use Blue Books at almost all universities...

Yes, but do you guys have to fill out the whole damn thing!? The only page left was the back of the last page... After this semester my right forearm looks like Popeye's!

All the ladies ask what I do for my arm routine, I dust off my shoulder, "Blue books, baby." Then I proceed to tell them about the manual dexterity that results from all that writing and they're mine!!! 😀

I have not. Although I do know people who bring two bluebooks, because they usually use 1.5 bluebooks... Seriously, how do people write so much?

Good lord! 1.5 blue books!? That's a lot. I thought one was a lot.

I don't think I could have submitted less to my prof, unless I wanted a grade lower than a 95%. I figured I would finish out with a bang. Plus it was a cool/interesting class so I didn't mind doing the extra studying/writing for it.

I wouldn't write them off just yet. I applied there and didn't hear from them for 2 months. I had already taken a position at Kaplan and decided corporate tutoring wasn't for me though. Oh well.

TOP scoring team right now...sorry Myuu😳

Yeah, I had a buddy who did some tutoring there and couldn't stand it! Were you tutoring in Denver, Boulder, or CO springs?

😀 I do what I can. You ready for apps? Where are you applying???
I wouldn't say I'm ready for apps so much as I am ready to be done with them. I haven't finalized my list yet, but my not so short list is as follows:

Stanford
UCSF
University of Colorado
Yale
GW
Pritzker
Harvard
Tufts
Mayo
Dartmouth
Albany
Columbia
Cornell
NYU
OHSU
Brown
Vermont

I'd like to narrow this to 15 but it's not easy.

Are you a URM? That is a very top heavy list.
