sigh my professor didnt write my LOR on an official letter head, she just did in on some random piece of paper..........now i cant apply to med schoool because I have no idea how to get a hold of her...since shes gone for the summer...and i dont have the right lors now-_-..I ****ing knew she would do that, its what i get for asking a stupid community college professor for a letter ugh so mad right now.

if I put a course that I was going to take this fall on my AMCAs, but I have to drop it because it got full, is that okay? Those future courses on AMCAS aren't binding?

🙁 There's no one else around that you can talk to and get it fixed? Like a professor friend of hers or something?

It's fine.

ill have 2 lors then.....I called my lame CC they said i can email her or call her office, whihc is awesomely useful since shes not teaching over the summer and on vacation until school starts in sept......

My best bet now is beg every professor ive evr taken to write me a letter in <1week that isnt total trash and at least average...then upload it to amcas. Serously wtf doesnt every prof know this **** needs to be official, not some **** i wrote in my mac.:boom:

Is there another prof you can beg to write an emergency letter for you?

can i just say that i am so, unbelievably glad that i did not go through college as a pre-med? 'cause i am so unbelievably glad that i did not go through college as a pre-med.

reading that "you know you're a gunner when" thread made me sad for the people posting there who act like they're joking but actually aren't.
Me too. I really only started to hang out with Pre-Meds once I graduated. haha

Dude, me too. I found out today when BU sent me a threatening email. Sorry to hear about your situation though. The guy who wrote mine works in the office next door to mine. I've submitted the non-letterhead one to a few schools, so I guess I"ll just fix it for them if they start complaining.

you know wtf i have complete emails at some schools though, do they just not give a **** that its not official? and bryson how did u go about fixing that, does the prof just reupload the letteR? did u just delete the old one...tomorrow is going to be a long day of asskissing for an emergency lor if i dont get one...im going to :boom:

Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to leave it alone for all the schools that don't complain. I only assign letters to specific schools after completing their secondary. For the schools that do complain, I've already made a new entry in my interfolio for the letterheaded letter. I've also made a new entry in my AMCAS for the letterheaded one. I'm goign to assign the AMCAS letterheaded one to each school from now on, and the schools that complain. And I'm going to send the interfolio letterheded one to the two schools that don't do AMCAS LORs.

This is an important LOR for me b/c it's a science one, and they guy taught me in two classes, I got an A+ in one of the classes, and his office is next door to mine. I think he knows me pretty well.

i wonder if my prof is on fb...or something...interrupit her vacation to fix this problem!!! The school office was so unhelpful ugh.

is anyone else experiencing this problem with their letters not being on letterhead? i have no way of knowing whether my letters are...

OMG!!!!!!!! Harry Potter movie in like 3.5 days!!!! :soexcited: What am I gonna wear??? I dressed up as Trelawney for the last movie. It was by far my best HP costume.

I can't wait either! I'm going as Angelina Johnson in full quiddich uniform (googles & guards). I'm so excited!

i only have 1 LOR that isnt from my premed committee...and i just emailed that professor and reminded to put it on letterhead.

sorry to hear about you guys' misfortune. i feel like we shoulda been told about this when asking for LORs either through AMCAS or TMDSAS. i mean we have to give those stupid letter request forms to the guys, it should say on there that this stuff should be on letterhead

haha **** she isnt on fb 🙁. seriously though wtf, i cant believe this. If this screws me over-_-...

was it specific schools that are complaining, or is it AMCAS? if it's a couple of specific schools, maybe you can email the deans explaining your situation, and they might excuse you.

I don't understand why professors wouldn't write the letters on letterhead.... It's only formal, and they write everything else on letterhead. Odd.

:hello:

Good evening everyone.

Been at new job "orientation."

I have to take it easy on the internets for the next while, but just thought I'd drop by and say hi.

Have fun you all.

only boston has complained so far...i dont want to call all like 40 schools i applied to and ask about my lors, thats like 3 hours on the phone-_-...if i cant find this women, or get an emergency lor, ill just call each school and see what they say and starting praying to god or something:scared:. Some schools dont complain and will just probably never review me...i really think that all schools have a policy that it must be on an official letter head...

im so ****ing dumb, I thought about this problem 1 month ago but figured my prof was smart enough to know what to do...now i pay for it. She is a community college professor i.e she probably has never ever written a LOR for med school...so i thought this might be a problem but dismissed it.

yeah, I would get an emergency LOR or something. A letter on a piece of paper is just weird.

sorry for going off topic guys, but quick question.

for jefferson's secondary they ask for a 500 character optional statement about something.

would a quick blurb explaining an uncharacteristically low semester be appropriate for this? more specifically, I was pledging a frat that I deactivated from after that semester.

thoughts??

EDIT: also, do you guys who have done the jefferson secondary think theyre serious about a 500 character limit? doesnt even look like theres a counter or some sort of limiting measure in place

save it for interview if they ask you. I am in a similar situation and I decided not to draw unncessary attention to it.

wow, guys. i just did the stupidest thing possible over the weekend. i wrote a 5000 character essay for a 2009 prompt, and the prompt is completely different for 2010.

Yeah, I even sent him an email with this in the text 4 days before he turned it in:
Make sure the letter has these things:

-My degrees are ___ '07, and ___ '09
-Please include my AMCAS number: _____.
-Make sure it's on _________ letterhead.
He's just an airhead (lovingly, not insultingly), I'm lucky that I can just talk to him any day without setting up an appointment or anything.

So the "fully furnished" place I'm supposed to be staying in for the next month doesn't have bed sheets, towels, a shower curtain, pots and pans, dishes, silverware, or a TV. Interesting...

Luckily one of the docs I'm working with recently moved and had a ton of extra kitchen stuff. But still, he shouldn't have to deal with that. Really nice guy though.

Ok not to sound creepy but I was randomly clicking around the 2014 FB group and it turns out me and JimmerJammer have a friend in common.
