Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey, ksmi, if you wait to take Biochem in the spring, we can take it together and you can help me when I don't understand anything about it.

haha... Sounds like a plan. I'm like super excited about this other math course too. Not only will it clear up my fall. But it'll replace one of the math electives I was gonna have to take in the spring. So it's like getting rid of an entire class. I just gotta make sure that my env. chem. class fulfills Vandy's requirements since all the pre-reqs need to be done by the end of the fall. It is classified as chem on my AMCAS, but we did like zero chemistry in it. If it doesn't I'll need to take biochem in the fall. 👎

Oh yeah, because you're not Bio, right?
I have to take it because I am Bio. There are a lot of times when I wish I wasn't a stereotypical Bio major. They need to have more info on majors and what you learn and can do with them at college orientation or something. Then students wouldn't get in over their head with majors they didn't really want because they feel they have to be that.

I'm a bio minor, so I have to take it at some point, but it just depends on Vandy to see when I suppose.

And I agree about that major stuff. I came into LSU as a pre-med but refused to be a Bio major for God knows what reason. I just wanted to rebel the pre-med stereotype, I suppose. But I'm really glad I didn't. I love my math major. 😀

I think if I wasn't a Bio major, I would be either Anthropology, Nutrition, or Food Science. I am doing a concentration in Marine Biology, though, at least that's fairly unique.

OK seriously today is the worst day ever, I called the vet and they said i should monitor the cat and if he is acting weird (vomiting or diarrhea) i should bring him in tomorrow. So I am sitting and eating in my living room and I start to hear weird noises. I think they are coming from next door. All the sudden my ceiling collapses in my kitchen!!!!

😱 I'm sorry to hear that.

Poor cat.

Yeah, sorry for the cat though. I like cats.

Hmmm... thinking.

So I had a friend who applied and got at interview at Vandy. At said interview, they told him that he needed 2 more hours of Chemistry because he had placed out of the GChem lab. But, I know he had taken Biochem before that which should have fulfilled the requirements by AMCAS standards at least (don't they classify Biochem as a chemistry course?). So maybe Biochem doesn't fulfill the requirement. If that doesn't and my env. chem. doesn't either, I think I'll just take GChem I. Hmm. I wonder if I can do that, unuse AP credit, I mean. I've taken all the Chem above it, but I used my AP credit for that one semester. That would be an insanely easy class if I did that. I wouldn't even need to go. Just show up for the tests and final.

wow, some people are having a rough week. i thought it was bad working late on a friday, but at least my kitchen is intact. make sure the cat is okay. i bet he/she will be.

and ksmi - take biochem. i loved it. biochem is great. and important. and it will make you cooler.

I have to take it regardless of what I take in the fall. I'm just saying that if it doesn't count, I'll need to find something else to take.

Poor cat.

Yeah it was super scary, he fell like 10 feet and the lower half of his back hit a picnic table then his whole body rotated and hit the ground. I could hear him hit the table. I thought he was going to be dead or paralyzed. Luckily he just got up, a little disoriented but fine. I feel really bad about it because i put him in the tree. He has no front claws so he can't get up there, but he loves trees. he normally just finds a perch to chill on and watches the birds and squirrels. No more trees for sparta.

<<<---- my cat sparta. super adorable if i do say so myself! 🙂

What a super bad luck for the cat.🙁

I just had the coolest idea for an ec that i think i would actually REALLY love. Ski patrol! Since I have my EMT-B I would qualify. And I would get to ski for free! I am super excited about this right now!!!

Clarification for southerners: this is snow skiing!

What's that??? 🙄

Ugh I wanted to go out but I am sitting on a bunch of secondaries and I knew i would just feel guilty all night if i had left...
but seriously i would have :scared:

I'm thinking about doing this this year too. There's a chance to volunteer weekends at our ski resort. It'd be fun, and I also have my EMT rating, so I'd just have to learn how to use all their equipment.

Yeah lift tickets are super expensive. I got my mom's hand-me-down skis when she got parabolics, so it would be 100% free!

i kind of stayed in to get 2 of my duke essays up to draft quality, but probably watching A Few Good Men with a friend later. apparently its a classic that i never knew about. before my time.

Oh God, I wish. That would be awesome...
But, no, I work at a movie theater where most people treat me like crap and think I'm an idiot. 🙁

do you get to wear one of those sweet suits with the bow tie? if so you should rock that at an interview! you would get in for sure

wow if i started watching a movie at midnight i would definitely fall asleep unless it was super riveting!

Oh, no. It's not that nice. We wear khakis with polo shirts that have company colors and logo stuff. There was a time before my theater switched companies, when the workers wore red and black vests. That must have been pretty snazzy.
So for interview suits, powder blue ruffle tuxedo?

You can't handle the truth!

If you like it, Rules of Engagement is a similar movie that's worth watching.

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

OK, so now that people have gotten Vandy letters, I'm freaking out.
Do yall think that interview invites will start next week for a lot of schools? This seems to be the common thought, I just want to know if someone has researched if history backs this idea up.

Seriously though if I saw someone dressed like that it might throw me off. I would be laughing at that person pretty much the whole day.

oooo wear a corsage too! and bring one for your interviewer!!!!!

Did anybody ever figure out how to play tetris w/ each other?

Nope. 🙁 The only thing we could think of was playing something on Yahoo! Games together, but there's no Tetris there.

Yeah, I mean, the thought is just based off when lots of invites went out last year.

Well that's better than just assuming it will happen because it'll be the first week of August.
So yesterday, I missed LSU-NO's 2 hour timeframe to call about app status because I was at work. 🙁 Working messes up my applications and such - I can't tell you how many delays I've had just because of work.

I hope so. I'm ready for those invites!

Funny People is a really interesting movie.. not exactly what I was expecting, but definitely worthwhile. Long though, 2 hrs and 15 mins.

I don't know I would like to get rid of some of the secondaries I am sitting on. I will feel like crap if one of the schools that i haven't completed the secondary for yet starts giving out interviews.

I haven't seen it, but I was looking at my movie schedule at work today, and caught a glimpse of the run time - 2hrs 40mins (includes 15mins of previews)!!! Why does a comedy need to be that long? I'll still see it soon, though.

It's a comedy in the same way that Knocked Up was a comedy. There are certainly some extremely funny moments, but the overall tone of the movie is very serious. It's easy to understand why Adam Sandler took the role -- I'm sure a lot of what happened to his character reflects his real life experiences. I loved it.
