Yeah, since Thursday is over I've basically given up on all medical school related news now. Unfortunately, I must move tomorrow and work on Sat and Sun - so not a fun weekend. But then I have some days off and shall buy a new suit and shoes. I also have to learn how to tie a tie...:laugh:

I would like to have one before school, but that's why I scheduled only 1 class on Mondays and Fridays.

It's surprising how quickly you can learn to competently tie a really nice-looking tie. I learned how to do a double-Windsor from my roommate in under 20 minutes. After practicing it a few times I can do it in 1 or 2 tries every time. I still need a mirror though. 😛

Well, normally my mom pre-ties my ties for me, but they don't always fit right, since it's much better when you tie it on yourself. It's ok, I need to know how to do this, I just never wear ties ever.

And ksmi, your husband will thank you for your tie-tying skills. I need to make my gf learn and tie my ties.

stayclassy, totally agree. didnt want to say anything cause ive been tieing ties since 9th grade...

although i feel like its a skill that is thrust upon many. i had to learn to tie one because I went to a boarding school. you got raped if you werent wearing a tie. bonus points for bow-ties. extra super secret bonus points for a bow tie you tied yourself 😉

I've tried to tie a bow-tie on myself before. It didn't turn out very pretty. I'm very good at tying them for my dad though. 🙂
 
do you think bow tie to the interview would be automatic acceptance?
 
For sure. Hell, if it got me an auto acceptance, I'd even wear a bowtie. I'd have to match my suit though. Have I mentioned how much I love my suit? Because I do.

Yeah, band camp was much more fun as a drum major than as a tuba player...

Except with the Mississippi Lion's All-State Band...best. group. ever. Won the international convention parade in 2000 in Honolulu.

That was just great. Oh well. I just realized I've almost been out of high school for 10 years. And conservatories don't have marching bands. I did ask though before starting school :laugh:

I dont know how to tie one either 🙁...i tried to follow some instructions, like 1 hour later still; utter failure lol...im going to have to aska friend to like tie my tie for me, then loosen it and pack it like that so i can just slip it on agian....

Wow, I learned how to tie a tie in middle school. I went to a private school and learn from one of the guys.

lol luun, thats the one i used but still failure...i must be pathetic :laugh:. When it comes to like household things like cooking, tieing a tie, ironing a shirt or something, im just at a complete and utter loss ahha, i need another women in my life to do these things agian.

lol, nah. Maybe you just need some one with you to help. I mean, even when I learned, it took me a while before my ties actually looked like they were supposed to.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention, my bf doesn't know how to tie a tie either. lol And he won't let me show him on a tie he owns because it's already tied and he doesn't want to undo it, and he's too apathetic to let me show him on one of my ties. :laugh:

I plan on wearing what I wore to work yesterday:

last year's version of this suit with the pants option and this pink shirt

Brooks Brothers outlets = best thing ever. Esp. when you hit them @ sale time. $90 shirts for $30. FTW.

Recently, I've considered getting a new interview suit -- I have 5 suits, but I've worn them at least 1x/week consistently for over a year...I'm a little concernicus that they might start looking a little dingy. Not to mention I've dropped 20 lbs since buying them. Saggy pants do not a professional make 🙄
 
so I work down in research at the teaching hospital of one of the schools i'm applying to. On they app, they ask if i've ever been employed by their university. I didn't know if they considered the hospital part of their university, so I emailed them, asking if I should mark that I've worked for the univ. The response I get is:
"This will be added to your file.
Thank you for your interest..."

wtf?
that's not a satisfactory answer!
 
suit with light blue top and red tie. but im bringing my entire dress shirt and tie collection with me on these things. you never know what your mood will be that morning!

I'd interpret it to mean that they're taking note that you work at the teaching hospital. So, that's a good thing right?

alternatively, the paranoid premed in me is thinking "we're keeping a record of how many times you email us...:caution:" but that jerk in the back of my head is nearly always wrong, so I think it'd be safe to ignore 'em.

in short, answer "Yes." and they're definitely going to see you've worked for them.
