well... its just my place.

of course if you end up in penn, it will probably leave you with the crappiest of apartments but it will probably be the only school that you can live RIGHT near by for less money. maybe drexel med too. Jefferson is in center city, which is nice but a bit more pricey. Temple is in a part that you probably will not be living. so you will end up getting a nice apartment (b/c it makes no sense not to, if you won't live a block away)

haha I do the same thing!! I'm a waitress so I usually work nights and have to actively try to find things to keep myself busy during the day so I can't obsessively check email/get sad that other people are getting invites from places I applied to😛

Exactly, I don't really care what happens with other schools - I just want to make sure that mine aren't leaving me behind... pitt

Yeah, that makes sense. I've heard Temple is located in the middle of a really bad area. I have a buddy starting dental school there and he said they let you out early so you don't have to leave the building after dark. ha ha. I thought he might have been exaggerating, but I guess one of their med students was shot leaving a while back. This is all hearsay though.
 
i'm not gonna lie, i shadow at temple and i've seen bodies carried out in stretchers near the area quite frequently

i would still love to go there cuz they have a really solid clinical foundation on the people they cater to, and i don't really mind the area, i'm kinda numb to it.


i do understand people from far not enjoying philadelphia or nyc though. but i am glad that these schools are not public/state funded, making a more diverse student body possible
 
I'd still go to Temple if that was the only place that accepted me.

yea I'd say Temple is in my top 5. The new building is better than penns, jeffersons and drexels med school building but penn obv has the nicer research buildings. i think temple is in much better financial standpoint than drexel or jefferson since they have a really SOLID group of patients set (the other two are kinda sandwiched in and awkward)

i need to bang a girl from jefferson to take over the area

yea philly is REALLY slow at administrative things and i think the schools will be slow, not too nice, etc etc. fun place to live. In between a NY and a Boston (and also driving distance to everything)

:laugh: Dude that sounds sketchy, but I would still go there. I'm sure it's a great med school and what better place to learn how to treat trauma patients than by Temple.

I recently heard that Temple is all that friendly to residents that aren't from PA or along the coastlines. Any merit to this?

The undergrad school is a public school but the med school is private (like Pitt), with no IS/OOS preference. I have met people there from California to Louisiana to wherever. However, they do charge OOS people higher tuition (snakes) but i think you can claim residency after a year.

I think all of the PA schools say they have a slight IS bias, but its not that conspicuous.

16 is a good number. I think you'll definitely get into your state school and you've got a good shot at some of the others.

Ahh, nice. I hear Pitt is pretty friendly towards my state, but that could all be rumor. We'll see when my app goes out (assuming the MCAT went alright).
 
I don't know about the ladies of Jefferson, but if you walk around a bit you will get to the really nice area of Philly w/ the high class shopping areas/Rittenhouse and people are pretty banging there.

The osteopathic school PCOM is located in a REALLY nice area (where Kobe grew up) as well.

I heard about a guy in NY who won the Lotto 2x. It wasn't in a year, but it was still pretty incredible.

I would like to, I just don't want it to kill my GPA this semester. I also don't want to count my chickens before they hatch and be like "well, I'm going to be interviewing a lot all over the country this semester, blah, blah..." I'll just take it as it happens.
But I know I'll get one from state school, profs have basically said so - it's a quick drive.

Just started watching True Blood. Still haven't decided whether I like it or not. What metallica said is basically my reason for disliking it:

And even if it was set somewhere else, I'm just not a fan of this vampire craze right now - especially Twilight. People like Twilight because of bored housewives' and little dreaming preteens' fantasies about their version of the ideal guy and transmogrify it into their love for the series. I haven't read the books, from what people tell me about the storyline, the guy seems like a creepy douchebag who happens to be a vampire.

It gets better. I was undecided until about episode 6 or 7, but after that I was hooked.

I am slightly biased though, because I thought that the girl who played Sookie Stackhouse was hot, so it kept me coming back for more. Now it's a mix between the hot women, raunchy nudity, and story line that keep me coming back for more.

If you make it to the second season you won't be able to stop watching it until you get caught up.

I watched it and didn't think it was that bad. I did think the leading lady was somewhat hot, so that kept me entertained for the slow parts.

I am a huge fan of vampires, warewolves, comic book movies, and just about anything else sci fi or fantasy horror related.

Yeah, Twilight is pretty lame. I read the first one and the first chapter of the second book and I haven't picked up the book since. I'm not all into lovey dovey stories. The only reason I finished the first book was because I had seen the movie and knew there was a fight scene at the end. Come to find out, what's-her-face passes out and none of the fight is in the book. Lame. 👎
 
So, I'm not sure if I like my class schedule anymore. I don't really want to take Virology at 7:30am on Tues and Thurs, but I can't really find any replacements. The class list for all departments suck this semester. I have a backup Anthropology class at 9, but it has a lot of books to potentially buy and then I would only have 1 Bio class this semester. Any other addition of classes would add classes to Monday or Friday, where I only have 1 each (and would like to keep it that way for interview purposes). I could add Biochem on Mon and Wed, but I'm not so sure I'll do well in it. I kinda wanted to save it for my last semster.
I would also like to have an easier semester this time for school updates and in case I miss a lot of class.
What should I do?

Take anthro. 9 >>> 7:30

Plus, Anthro will be an easy "A."


Not to mention, anthro is a class I sort of wish that I took while in school. You'll have years to study viruses.

I guess I could just go to both classes on the first day and see what happens and how easy the Anthro class will be.
That means my spring will have 2 bio classes that aren't quite of my choosing (biochem and some molecular/cell type class), but oh well. Plus I'll get some sleep. 🙂
If only I wouldn't have delayed my 4-day a week Spanish class until now, I could just add Biochem and then graduate this semester. Stupid foreign language.🙁
 
I took Anthro freshman year. Boring as hell. Or at least my class was.
