anyone ever panic when they see an iTunes receipt enter their inbox? 9 times out of 10, I've downloaded a free song or app, and it makes me panic and i start thinking someone's hacked my account (again) and is downloading with reckless abandon...

Hate micro lab? that is a dagger to my heart my friend

lol well its not so much i hate micro as i hate anything involving lab bench work/research. Its just not my thing i hate being in the lab, i hate doing the same cultures and techniques over and over again.

Lol its ok, I definitely know its not everyone's cup of tea

Yeah, I loved micro lab, but whenever they said "do a graham stain" for the 20th time, it did get kind of annoying.

Geez, this guy already has 6 interviews on the school-specific fourm.

Haha yeah I felt the same way. It was my favorite lab though. I mean I really liked Chem lab (well except when we'd have to boil something for 2 hours), but I hated doing the lab reports. Micro was the best of both worlds, short and easy and still interesting.

Micro was oen of my favorite labs - I disliked Gen Chem lab, and loathed (as you know) Organic lab.
I also really liked Parasitology lab, it was like a Micro lab without doing stuff, but you (hypothetically) get really good at identifying different parasites and what they do under a microscope and by case studies/pictures.

Here is the secret to a quality orgo lab.

Step 1: Throw stuff in beaker w/stir rod

Step 2: Tell group at bench behind you to make sure your stuff doesn't blow up while you're at lunch

Step 3: walk to Reseraunt across the street: order lunch and some Sam Adams.

Step 4: return 1.5 hour later, and purify product.

😀

Agreed - shouldn't the stats work out to get 2 or 3 acceptances with 6 interviews, at least mathematically?
something like that maybe 2/6 acceptance maybe another 1 acceptance off a waitlist or so. Regardless if you have multiple interviews at this point its probably a great sign that you will be accepted eventually.

watching that guy, he just got his 7th invite. Share the wealth!

i think he lives in ny/nj. he should be able to drive to most of the interviews.
true...i forget not everyone is screwed like me and blue in cali :scared:.

I dont even want to go to NY to be honest lol....i could care less in some ways if i get in there. Id take creighton or near any other school over anything in nyc.

my week is going like i predicted

i expected 0 invites, 1 hold from gwu, and maybe a rejection

i got the hold from gwu so far and the 0 invite looks solid

well i need to talk to the penn mstp director and see the prospects of continuing my research here. so i have not applied to penn yet (i'll probably tailor it to my time here)

secondaries are starting to give me a headache . . . at least some will reject me pre-secondary. I think i've been rejected from WFU (i got that status that says 'you will be notified by email of your status') or something like that.

i don't know what i was thinking with some of the schools i picked. i am going to re-review the MSAR for more biochem-instead-of-orgo2-friendly schools and add them.

at least i got UIC and Tulane done. if they don't love me, who will??🙁

Wow - I'm sure there are some crazies on the School Specific Threads that would want to kill you if they heard that.
Since you apparently want to stay in Philly, did you apply to all the Philly schools?

haha, well think about it. i have like a 30% chance of getting into vandy w/ an invite and it costs $300+ for the interview. i have a 1/6 chance of getting into ucsf w/ a secondary ($60 + a possible cost of interview) = max $1000 spent on <50% chance of getting in

compared to jefferson which is a walking distance/subway ride ($2.90) and a higher chance of getting in!

Aw man, this sucks. We're all going to wind up going to completely different schools!
