Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have some dough I can share.

the #1 thing I miss about college: the unlimited portions dining hall

brought my lunch today but I got really hungry and ate it within 1.5 hours of arriving at work. had to go out and buy lunch 🙄

my biggest expenditure other than rent is food. and I'm a budget shopper!

the amount of my september rent?

Blue, I'll pay my rent if you could front the med school application costs that'd be great. kthx 😀

costco healthy choice soup variety packs ftw. 10 cans of soup, $9.

So jealous!

Thanks guys! I was really starting to get nervous before, with a BU rejection it was sort of starting to feel like it was going to be a bad year. First interview is a huge weight off...

ah, now... the trick is to be so broke that you get FAP 😀

false! DC has a metro-accessible costco. I have my fav store in Raleigh as well. There's one in Lynn, MA -- about a 30 min drive from the Boston schools. Plus, Sam's Clubs and BJs abound on the east coast!

I spent waaayyyy too much at the Harris Teeter yesterday, but I ended up getting some food for yummy recipes 🙂

if you spend $10 to buy the boxed ingredients for this Egg Drop Soup recipe, you can make 10x the recipe before you have to buy more. Plus it's filling and FANTASTIC 😀 http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/asian-egg-drop-soup-recipe/index.html

I always thought they were basically only in cali😕...i knew there were a few on the east coast too but ...midwest im near 100% sure they dont exist. Maybe ill ask my med school interviewers that question at the end...so umm do you guys have a costco close to the school? Because thats a huge selling point 😛

wait how do u qualify for FAP?
you and your parents must be broke basically. They include your parents income even if they dont support you in any possible way, which makes it hard for some 🙁

from the site...."FAP eligibility decisions are tied directly to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' poverty level guidelines. For the 2009 calendar year, applicants whose total family income is 300 percent or less of the poverty level for their family size will be approved for fee assistance."

I miss HT. I've had to switch to Kroger while I'm in broke-bryson mode. 🙁 When I start getting money back, I'll be back in HT in no time.

in retrospect, it says it doesn't take familial status into account, so I guess they'd have looked at my parents' records as well if I'd applied. How old do you have to be before they stop expecting your parents to fund your education?
they include your parents income even if you are 55 yr old man with a wife and 4 kids...they always include it no matter what there is no age limit, thats what screws people. At the time i was married and had a kid and my parents dont even support me, but they made me include my moms income. In fact i dont even know who my father is and they almost made me like track his ass down, luckily they finally let me out of that, but they are super strict and crazy about it.

basically if your parents arent dead you are including them, or if you are legally emancipated.

that's interesting -- Kroger is more expensive than HT in my neck of the woods.

My weekly meals are determined by HT's weekly VIC specials. This week will involve a lot of chicken (BOGO), strawberries (buy 1 lb get 2 free), and white bread ($.97 a loaf)

There's costco in ohio

I'd believe it. I was upstate with a bj's five min from school so that worked for me

haha when i hear new york, i assume city. now that i think of it, there's actually a costco in queens as well. costcos everywhere!

I have homework in two classes already. 👎
HW seriously? I guess thats one good thing about being a bio major, i havnt had anything like HW since HS. Except these stupid lab classes...but at least there are only 3 🙂

unless you just count reading books/chapters/articles as homework. I haven't had much "go do this and turn it in" for a while, but i have had plenty of reading assignments

Speaking of costco, I just came back from one. I had to buy some items. I love costco.

lol on espn they just had "breaking news" vick was spotted with a drink in his hand...seriously though? Football season needs to start to ESPN can stop searching for these meaningless idiotic stories.

We have Sam's here. I don't have a card. 🙁
OMG, my classes are going to suck balls this semester. I think all of them have attendance/participation parts, outside reading crap, writing assignments, and tons of that stupid little stuff you shouldn't do outside of high school. Just give me exams and be done with it. 😡

I'm already through with attending my classes. henceforth I will only go to clinical skills classes, exams and meetings with free food.

I'm sorry, but why would you ever do that?! I worked it out one semester senior year that each hour of class cost me $400 or something outlandish like that...if I'm paying THAT much, I might as well go 🙂

idk, i missed 80-90% of my classes in undergrad (i dont know how my professors looklike , at all). the material moved too slow and if you put me in a dark room with empty chairs, err, i'm definitely passing out

i wish i could have gone to class though, i feel like i just learn better not going

yeah I probably slept through more lectures than I should've (hell I fall asleep at work if I'm not doing anything), but I still tried to go if for no other reason than I already paid for it.

strong motivator 🙄

on a separate topic, I just spent $3 so I could better access SDN on my iPhone. FML I'm addicted to y'all 🙂
